As my contribution will be negligible I'm looking for a 4 year contract.

Oh ****...I can see if I'm going to be able to "press" from the off I'm going to need extra training. First, what's an "Iphone"? On the credit side, living in North Baddesley we do have a Thai Massage Parlour which I can stake-out for potential embarrassing photographs...who should I be looking out for in particular?

Could I, in all sincerity offer myself as a "failed journeymen poster". Having joined the bandwagon around page 1000 and largely lurked, feeding off the "goodwill vibe" of the subject matter, I feel I have something particularly worthless to offer the thread at an inflated fee. Being one of the senior members of the squad I'm hoping you can see the value in my inclusion in the first team. Thanks for listening. P.S. Will there be extra training to get us journeymen up to speed on technical trivia?

Osvaldo to start as main striker for italy on Friday
lifeintheslowlane replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
Don't worry about it...it was an article in which Dani mentioned at the end of the interview he'd like to end his career playing for Boca Juniors (the team he supported as a kid) only to find another lazy journalist thought he could rearrange the facts to read, "Osvaldo Already Plotting Saints Exit." -
There's no such thing as a "suspect" **** at Puerto Banus...they're all guaranteed canker.

This is a joke! No credibility without Sir Clive Woodward. -

Would you ever give up being British?
lifeintheslowlane replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Lounge
Correct me...if you can. It was reported to be said by Johnson...not least by Boswell. -

lifeintheslowlane replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Lounge
Don't worry about quoting Johnson...he also said that "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" which isn't entirely contradicting the former pronouncement but pretty close. I'm English/Sotonian and proud. -
I skipped an after school KO game for our school team to watch the Notts Forest game. On the bus to The Dell I found I was travelling with our games master who was also going to the game. I had to put on a heavy limp all the way up Hill Lane just in case he was watching.

I'm another who was there that day...a 13 stone, 6ft 2", 20 year old whose feet hardly touched the ground we were packed so tightly in the Milton. George Best was an established superstar at that time...certainly not a 1st division newcomer.

Barack Obama, Che Guevara and Mauricio Pochettino
lifeintheslowlane replied to Graffito's topic in The Saints
He gave the interview in English and it was mis-translated into Italian before it was translated again into Spanish and then back into English for the Internet article. I think it makes perfect sense. -
For future transfer activity, lets avoid Serie A...

This another favourite from earlier in the year...Full Circle by Canadian band Half Moon Run.

OK this is for "SuperMikey" "saintbletch" and the other Calexico fans here. As I said earlier you missed a great show at The Corn Exchange in Brighton in Feb so here's an, (unfortunately) "top 'n' tailed video of Guero Canelo. BTW Mikey they played Glastonbury on the Saturday night overlapping with The Stones which rather ****ed them off as they wanted to catch the show too. As it turned out they got to see the second half of The Stones set.

Shameful...an absolute farce.

In order what decade was the best time supporting Saints
lifeintheslowlane replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
60s and 70s for me. Demands and expectations weren't so high and we supporters weren't so saturated with two-bit Internet "Experts" and "Analysts." We just paid our 35p to watch the lads play flowing attacking football, making heroes of great players who lived in the same street. I do still enjoy my football but the dissection of every minute of every game...and the demand of instant success from our latest signing, takes the edge off it for me. -
I've been a Calexico fan for about 15 years. What's the best listen to get into them? It has to be a live recording...like all great bands, that's where they excel. If you go to their band website: http://www.casadecalexico.com/topspin-store/featured/ you'll find a live recording from last years tour...top stuff..."Ancienne Belgique Vol 2"...if you enjoy their Mariachi tinged numbers there's plenty there to keep you happy. I'm surprised you missed their last tour that took in Brighton last Feb (superb gig)...they also did Glastonbury and Latitude this summer. I don't think they'll be touring in Europe now for a couple of years...they're gearing up for a new album.

Not quite like that but I do have some more in the loft...better get searching. Edit: Here some more...this one taken in Shirley at the junction of Shirley High Street and Park Street: -

I have my pictures. I took this as were were walking towards Foyes Corner in Shirley Road. Got about 100 yards from the cross roads as they came around the corner. There were a row of buses parked at the side of the road so I ran up to the top deck of a No. 17 and took this picture through the front window. -
Your favourite Saints players that weren't popular?
lifeintheslowlane replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Haha...the same as Duckhunter I bawled a f**kwit out whilst (really) standing under the east stand. He was a middle-aged-bearded-apoplectic-heart-attack-waiting-to-happen-kinda-tw*t. He had this red-faced-raging hatred of Alan Ball. Towards the end of his time at Saints in the late '70s early '80s Bally's performances could be variable...still a class act but his legs were going and Steve Williams was doing a fair bit of Bally's covering work. Even when Bally was having a good game this tw*t would rush down the terracing when Bally came near to loudly berate him. Most of the time it was funny as the guy's face was purple with rage. In the end I said, "If you're having such a lousy time...why don't you FO home." The whole terrace supported with a collective, "Yeah why don't you F-O home.":) -
Has so much time...never looks flustered whatever the level and stronger than any teenage full back I've ever seen. Still he'll get better.
