Never got into their previous albums but I'm loving Midlake's new one...Antiphon.
-
I don't disagree...just felt sorry for the lad in the circumstances. Doing well in a shambles of a team performance isn't going to make things easier, as the clock ticks down.

J Rod was thrown in at the deep end remember...not only his first England squad but his first England start against tough opposition. He's not been afforded the luxury of a gentle introduction...squad first...being brought on for the final 20 minutes in a comfortable game. He you are...here's your big chance to impress...3 games to go before we select the 23 for the world cup...f**k it up now and you're history. Anyone surprised he looked nervous?

Were England playing any particular formation this evening...I couldn't detect one. Utter shambles.

TBH I'm finding the articles boring...they are repeating the same old thing, just reworking them and presenting them as blinding original insight. Is this what it's like to be "Top Four"? Seems like the bandwagon of lazy journalism is rolling...and the brakes have failed.

I feel a bit easier now...Bastards! -
MoPo speaking English in interviews
lifeintheslowlane replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Until he feels he can express himself well enough in English he'll no doubt continue to get his message across using his interpreter. A sensible precaution against a predatory media who already use their own interpretation of English. -
Yep Chockys at the Milton Road end only...There was an unofficial kids and adults box but not rigidly enforced. If you got there early and made it to the front you had a wide parapet you could lay your stuff out on...Duffle bag, programme etc. The whole game was laid out in front of you...best uninterrupted view in the ground but perishing cold and bleek in the winter. Sad day when they made way for the Milton End remodelling in the early '80s(?).

Todays Saints related orgasm from the Daily Mail

No...we've had players featured like this before. What you're uncomfortable with is that they're coming thick and fast at the moment. It's average players, playing for the big clubs who get regularly overhyped. -
The Chocolate Boxes...best view in the ground.

Feet on the ground...head in the clouds. Oh dear.

26th May 2001...shortly before myself, (left) and my mate Mike (right) began digging up the penalty area.

I was interviewed on the pitch after the last game by Radio Solent...I was choked...all I could think of were my Mum and Dad who both loved Saints and sadly didn't live to see the move. When asked what they would have thought about the new ground I said they loved The Dell but they would have loved the new ground...time to move to the next level. Now where have I heard that before.

Let's get this straight...it was never a stadium, it was a good old fashioned football ground. Two not so grandstands on either side with nothing much at one end (ArchersRoad) and a couple of concrete boxes on stilts, (Milton Road) at the other. If you were a kid you stood behind one of the goals for one shilling and sixpence and if it rained you got wet. The pitch was a quagmire when it rained until the early '70s when they cut slits in it and filled them with sand...making, not much difference. The crowd was intimidating because if you reached out you could touch the players...it was a cauldron of noise because you were shouting in their ears. Big clubs hated playing there because of the atmosphere and were regularly turned-over. The toilets were third-world primeval and the catering a cup of hot Bovril. It was a fantastic place that on a good day raised the hair on the back of your neck and the fear of God in the opposition...I loved every squalid minute I spent in the place. I was on the pitch at the end of the final game digging up the turf from the spot where Matt swivelled to smash the final goal in a competitive game. You really missed something.

Anyone else nervous about the wheels falling off?
lifeintheslowlane replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
Just imagine how Arsenal fans must be feeling...top of the Premiership and looking anxiously over their shoulders. In the Premiership you're either waiting for your bubble to burst or for your team to realise it's potential and start winning. Don't ever be complacent enough to accept a comfortable mid-table position...life would be so dull. -
RIP Stuart Williams, a fine footballer and a thoroughly decent man. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Diving is cheating? or okay if he's your player?
lifeintheslowlane replied to Hedgehog's topic in The Lounge
What staggers me is how easily ref fall for it. You could see what he's done as it happens...he goes past the defender throwing his arm back and spins around. I called it straight away and thought the ref, with a great view, had booked him for diving. Couldn't believe it. As we all know Young's a cheat. -
Confidence in the way your team is playing...what's arrogant in that? I can remember only too well travelling to top clubs and hoping we'd avoid a thrashing. If things have changed SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS...Saint's are no longer here to make up the numbers. How embarrassing was it to be an also-ran.

Watched the Stoke game at The Bede's Lea in North Baddesley yesterday. The reception via Al Jazeera Sport was good HD and the atmosphere good too. They will be showing all Saints PL games this season.

I think he was caught up in the desire for celebrity...to be a "quotable" personality...hence his ability to rub people up the wrong way. Probably a nice guy underneath the veneer.
-
I counted 10 Man U attack shown to 3 of ours...unbelievably poor editing. Even the after match analysis highlighted our pressing game and dominance using clips that were never shown in the highlights.

[video=youtube_share;5WnATZLcXuA] The new album...first new music for 13 years...is great. "The start of another comeback"

Come guys stoke these rumours...get the odds lengthening on a Saints win...then go in and mop up. Wa-heeeeey:D

FFS he's a JOURNALIST...leave him alone! When did it become necessary for them to get their facts right?

Well I've been a Scummer all my life...this is not something I take lightly so I'm, as you'd expect open to offers. Having said that, being a retired old fart, if I was to be offered something better, it very probably would have already happened. I am I'd like to add the "Genuine Article" someone prepared to kiss whatever badge you'd like to stitch on my Damart Vest.
