  1. Why do they have to be either...why not Celine Dion...turd or word...why does anyone need to know. You either like them or you don't. Personally I don't have an opinion on them because they don't appeal to me but I don't think their music needs comment. Why should what I think have any bearing on the quality of their music.
  2. Hmmm...beaten by a bad bounce in a sand pit. We owe them one.
  3. It's bad enough having players feigning injury to get an opponent booked...we've all seen that happen but now it seems players can demand the game stopped for what could be a feigned injury to their team-mate to halt an attack. I hope our players are being put right in this respect and play strictly to the whistle.
  4. I agree...especially as the Chelsea players had virtually stopped playing. Pressing in the final third...the game's stopped...player gets attention...Chelsea boot the ball to the other end of the pitch...job done.
  5. Whatify?
  6. Apart from being a poor game in atrocious conditions is a warped idea of sportsmanship robbing fans of a competitive game? Players stopping the game at the demand of opposition player for one of their injured players. I can understand the head injury rule but surely it is at the behest of the referee to decide when a player is so seriously injured they need instant attention. Last night Ramirez went up for a ball and lost out...no foul, he landed awkwardly and (debatably) injured himself. Arsenal played on until several Chelsea players pointed to the prone Ramirez demanding the ball be put out of play. Ramsey halted the attack 25 yards out and played the ball into touch. Players in these circumstances are running and in my opinion ruining the game for the paying punter. Has it gone too far or am I just an old fart who remembers the "bad old days"?
  7. ...and of course Calexico - Spiritoso if you count that as this year.
  8. In no particular order: Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City. Brendan Benson - You were Right Antiphon - Midlake Prefab Sprout - Crimson/Red Nadine Shah - Love Your Dum & Mad Laura Marling - Once I Was An Eagle Public Service Broadcasting - Inform Educate Entertain John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts Ron Sexsmith - Forever Endeavour Eels - Wonderful, Glorious Half Moon Run - Dark Eyes
  9. I thought the atmosphere was quite good today although particularly ****ed about the waste of breath singing songs about how much we hate a forth division non-entity. Someone get some new songs going.
  10. Perfect illustration on how the commercial side of the business intends to double returns for 2013/2014. It was a stated aim in Nicola's annual address at the beginning of the season. Reassuring to see measure are being fully implemented.
  11. Hmmm...must have been against the run of play...what dashed bad luck!
  12. Don't worry I expect hundreds more made the same mistake...oh um, no they didn't did they.
  13. Bought mine direct from http://www.hagiologists.com Top book; indispensable for all real Saints supporters.
  14. Thanks...I knew you'd understand. It's just that I don't have a short attention span...just looking at the Saturday line-up last year I knew it would be like planning a military operation...there were too many bands I would want to see and too many clashes. Perhaps paying £3.25 in 1969 for a 2 day festival makes it difficult to pay out over £150 to miss so many bands I wan't to see. Phil I do understand your sentiments but I did squalid over 40 years ago and as far as I remember disentry held no attractions for me. Today's Glasto is about as sanitised as Dubai 5 star gigs in comparison to festivals 40 years ago...Portaloo? What's a Portaloo.
  15. I'm an oldie...when I went to festivals, every act was a headliner and there was just one stage. You sat down on the grass at 12 noon and got up at the end at 12 midnight, having seen everyone. Someone convince me you can do a multi-stage festival justice. It seems to be put together to appeal to a generation with a short attention span...flitting between stages in a desperate effort to catch everyone you think you should see. I was offered a freebie to Saturday Glasto last summer...a friend's band was playing The Park Stage and he offered to put me on the guest list but only had one ticket. All I could think of were the hassles so I told him to give it to another deserving fan. Are there others out there who would rather go to a gig with one main act and a support than put themselves through the extended frustrations and discomfort of a modern festival?
  16. Don't worry he'll be back for our game...they play West Ham in the Capital Cup on Wednesday.
  17. I think he was looking to see if he could steal a kiss while his missus wasn't watching.
  18. I think if any of the current crop were more of a legend elsewhere they should be replaced with players who made their name and legendary status as a Saint. No disrespect to any of them as they contributed to the history of the club but to omit more deserving of the title "legend" is unfair in my opinion.
  19. Pre-season 2004 in Sweden where he was mobbed everywhere. After the first game in the back of beyond there we a couple of young girls with white T shirts with "I Love Anders" on them. They were too bashful to go up to him and the team were about to leave on the team bus. I said, "go on he won't bite" but they were still too shy so I called Anders over and they finally got their pictures. He was great, signed their progammes and gave them each a little peck on the cheek. Needless to say, it made their day...probably their year.
  20. Big Ron is a must...unbelievable he's not there.
  21. It will only be an issue to those who want it to be. Staff? No Players? No Supporters? No, not amongst my friends Media? Not really...unless it's a quiet day and they're looking to fill column inches. Is it disrespectful to others? What would contributors to a fan's message board know about that?
  22. "All The Saints"...every home should have one.
  23. Early leavers...Saturday's game poised at 1 -1 Saints in the ascendancy, with 5 minutes to play plus another 4 minutes for add-ons. How much did these jerks pay for their tickets. It's like going to the theatre and leaving before the last act.
  24. At that age I was on "Janet & John - Book 3"...but I was still playing on bombsites in Southampton. Sorry for the interruption...I'm enjoying the topic.
  25. RICHIE BARKER!!! Wow, who saw that coming?
