  1. I think that we're playing way too defensively minded in the structure of the team for these types of games and need to let the more creative attacking players run free Forster Clyne - Fonte - Toby - Bertrand ---------- Big Vic --------- Mane - Djuricic - Morgan - Elia ---- Pelle------ Give Mane and Elia freedom to cause havoc, use Djuricic in a #10 type role and let Morgan do what he wants. Philosophy for the game = attack, attack, attack... no f'ing about Subs - KD, Yoshi, Reed, Long, Tadic plan to bring on both Long and Tadic so let Mane, Djuricic and Elia run their legs off..
  2. What about using the 3-5-2 format like --------- FF ---------- - Yoshi - Fonte - Gardos - Clyne -------------- Davis ----- Big V- Reed ------- -- Elia ------ Mane--- ------- Pelle ------
  3. IMHO our only bad results this season are the loss to Burnley and not beating Villa. Add in 5 points we missed from those games and 3rd place is easily ours.
  4. Had this link saved in my browser from a few weeks back. Is it still working? http://streamsp.com/
  5. Looking at the next 8 league games I don't honestly think that we have too much to be concerned about if we can keep up with our recent levels of performance. Villa Away - Winnable Man City Home - Winnable (we beat them last year) Arsenal Away - we've already won at The Emirates this season - so why not again Man Utd Home - Winnable Burnley Away - Winnable Everton Home - Winnable Palace Away - Winnable Chelsea Home - draw would be OK So, we can probably look to bank wins against Villa, Burnley, Palace and Everton. Possible wins against Man City and Man Utd. Draw against Arsenal, making a possible 16 - 19 points. Why the **** not. COYR's
  6. It's all going to plan currently. Here's to another 3 on Saturday. COYR's
  7. With where we've got to over the past 10 games and Ron's comments in the pre match interview, he's kinda strongly suggested that a couple of games in week is no issue so won't make wholesale games to keep players "fresh" Therefore - -------- Forster ----------- Clyne - Fonte - Toby - Bertrand -- Cork - Morgan - S Davis -- -- Tadic - Pelle - Mane -- The magnificent 11
  8. Our next 4 fixtures are all winnable IMHO Stoke H Hull A Leicester H Aston Villa A Focus on getting 12 points from that lot then the games after against City, Arsenal, Man U are much less of a concern. 3 points from those three games would give us 31 points before the Christmas schedule. Lovely.
  9. Hopefully, once all fit etc... -------- Forster -------- Clyne - Toby - Fonte - Bertrand ------- Wanyama ------ --- Tadic ----- Morgan --- Mane -- Pelle -- J-Rod
  10. Embracing the new Saints ------- Forster ------- Clyne - Fonte - Yosh - Bertrand -------- Big Vic -------- --- Taider --- Davis ---- Tadic ----------- Long --------- Pelle --------
  11. Being a little underwhelmed with the likely signing of Shane Long, I'd be happier if we'd gone for Welbeck as he's younger, will have something to prove after "failing" at Utd and has most of the attributes that SL has.

  15. It's not asset stripping but it's certainly a very unusual pattern if decisions from the people tvG are running the club. To see so many senior players leave us becoming more and more concerning for us fans as each day without positive news passes. By reckoning, we're looking likely to loose a very significant number if our match squad from last season without getting rid if the dead wood players we really should have let go. To loose Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, Lovren and Osvaldo, as well as looking likely to loose Chambers and Morgan over the next few days, with rumours of Cork , JRod and Fonte also considering moves is careless management IMHO. I'd be less concerned if it looked like Jos, Mayuka, Gazza and Yoshida were the subject of bids but they're not and it looks like we'll have to rely on them next season. Concerning times indeed.
  16. I think that there a couple of relatively minor tweaks which could be made to the current structure of the league which unfairly assists the big four and restricts all other teams in the league from competing on a fairer basis. Firstly, the division of TV money between clubs in the league needs to be changed. The current situation whereby clubs get a larger share of money based on the number of times that they have televised games needs to be ditched. This current arrangement effectively enables SKY to provide secondary sponsorship to a select few, thereby increasing their annual revenue and removing the possibility of a fair competition. All clubs in the league, regardless of the number of actual televised league games should receive exactly the same amount of TV money. If you look at this years numbers for example, the difference between the favoured clubs and the unfavoured clubs, like Saints, is tens on millions of pounds. This money enables the favoured clubs to circumvent the FFP rules and buy up players from less favoured but potentially competitive teams. Secondly, all clubs competing in the league should have a mandatory squad size cap of say 28 players. This reduces the opportunity for clubs like Chelsea or Man City to buy up as many players as they like because those not named in the league squad would be unwilling to stay if they knew that the likely hood of game time was massively reduced. This would have a couple of secondary benefits in that the fees paid for players would be lower due to increased player churn and that there would be a greater number of decent players for smaller clubs like Saints, Villa etc.. to employ. To reinforce this cap, a freeze on the ability to clubs to loan to other teams in the same league should also be introduced. Teams in the champions/europa league would have an increased squad size, but only by say 4 - 6 players. Also, stricter rules around what clubs can reasonably declare as revenue should be introduced to help control excessive transfer fees and escalating wages. These declarable sources should only include items such as ticket sales, TV revenue from league and domestic cup activities (excluding champs/europa), prize monies from previous season, player transfer fees received, directly attributable merchandise revenue (excluding secondary sources such as brand image rights) and a capped (as an agreed % of TV revenues) input of monies from owners in debentures/loans etc.. However, its highly unlikely that these types of reasonable rules would ever be accepted by the cartel of the big 4 and Sky.
  17. And my reply to Polaroids post Check out ersan gulum :-)
  18. Maybe reading a little too much between the lines here but, and it may be a very large but, we could be looking at a certain left sided CB currently playing for Besitkas. He's 27, on the verge of the national team and chips in a few goals a season. Probably available for €4m or there abouts. Ersan Gulum is his name. Aussie lad of Turkish parents and been playing in Turkey for the past few years. Is he good enough for us? Possibly...
  19. Check out Ersan Gulum.... :-)

  22. Thinking about this situation with Lovren, I'd be inclined to make him aware of his contractual responsibilities to the club and that he signed a 4 year commitment to us for the provision of his services to perform a specific function for that duration. If he's not willing to do that then I'd place him on gardening leave to cool off and discuss with his legal advisors. Once he's realised that Southampton FC hold all of the cards needed to win the case we'd then be willing to discuss next steps. However, if he takes the path of conflict with the club I'm of the opinion that writing off £8m to prove our point is a cost worth taking because it will be a once-off situation. Obviously, no wages are paid for non performance if contracted duties due to refusal to work. This is a game of brinkmanship I'd be happy to play this time around.
  23. Is MLG dropping hints? http://idenation.com
  24. I've got a hunch that we've already identified and agreed to sign a replacement for Luke which is what set the ball rolling with Buttner leaving MU for Moscow Mafia United and Shaw's move to MU being sanctioned. Guan has kind of alluded to this in his posts I think. I guess it remains for us to find out in the next few days who this Mr. X is.
  25. I think that we'll see an initial tweak leaving us with a structure like this ----------------- GK ------------------- ----------CB ------------ CB ---------- WB ------------ DM --------------- WB ---- AM ------- MC -------- AM ------ ---------- ST ------- ST ------------
