I miss the old days of paper fanzines. Back in the day when outside the Dell you could by the Ugly, On The March (& even Devalued) were days now gone. You could even pop up to SportsPages in London to pick up zines from other clubs, I used to get plenty. Normally I wouldn't want a PDF copy but have 2 flights in 2 days from Mexico coming up so this will do nicely! I have ordered & look forward to reading it. Thanks in advance for taking the time to put it together.

Europa League 2016/2017 (Died 8/12/2016)
Sydenhampton replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Sums up my situation & feelings too! 4 of us are flying from Luton to Turin for £19 each with BlueAir on the Thursday, then back home Friday afternoon for £13 each on Ryanair to Stansted from Genoa; ridiculously cheap trains linking us up with Milan. If we end up ticketless then we won't have exactly broken the bank to try. If so, we'll find a bar, get hammered and scream at a telly! Sorted. However I reckon home-ending it will be no problem. Also I'm not buying this "must show ID" lark either. Over in the Euro's we had tickets with another chaps name on it, were told exactly the same in advance & experienced nothing of the sort. Close to kick-off, they simply won't have the time. If an offer of a ticket came my way, I'd chance it. -
Pfft. This reeks of a scam!

Harsh!! Well I'm no mystic meg unfortunately. I said we'd have Zlatan in our pocket last week. We can win though, and should. COYS!

Not feeling the pessimism. We'll smash 'em 8-0 again!!!

Go on then, let's have a go. Obviously this will change based on who signs who and the undeniable fact that I always get these kind of things wrong! Citeh (Can't see past them at the moment) Spuds (really hate to admit this but that are going to be really good) Liverpoo (also really hate to admit this too but no Europe, whilst f-ing hilarious, will help them) Surrey Utd (I hope I'm wrong & they finish bottom) West Ham (I reckon they'll be top 3 at Xmas) Arsenal (Wenger out??) Chelsea (transition season for them) Southampton Leicester Everton (Let's all laugh at Konman, lalalala) Stoke Palace 'Boro Swansea Sunlun Burnley West Brom Hull (Not enough in the tank) Bournemouth (Really hope I'm wrong about this, but I reckon it'll be curtains for them) Watford (Their slump at the end of last season to continue, minus at least one of their top strikers)

This is so disappointing. I've been to a number of Dutch towns & cities in the last few decades and I can honestly say Zwolle is one of the more picturesque. Just look at some google images! It's pathetic how this mayor (named "Nuts" - uncanny) can use the trouble caused by Russians in Marseilles and the Feyenoord fans rampaging in August as reason to push for a ban on Saints fans from the game. I reckon this is a sign of things to come though. Just wait till the group stages draw. Azerbaijani, Israeli or Russian clubs probably won't be bothered but if we draw any clubs in DACH or Benelux then be prepared for more of the same.

Be careful what you wish for. Many of us thought the whole brexit thing wouldn't happen but alas the idiots have spoken, and now the country is in accelerated decline. And I understand America has more than their fair share of idiots!

Quite happy to let Pelle go. A fully fit Austin, J-Rod & Long can lead the line between them, so in the big scheme of things, he won't be missed. Big Vic on the other hand? Hmm, talk about being caught between a rock & a hard place. What I think I would do is mess Spuds around as much as possible by waiting until we've black-boxed a replacement in first and foremost, then give Levy the run-around. He'll leave, but there's no reason why we should hold the door for him & call him a cab....

This is awesome, just watched the video and I can't say I'm not a bit jealous! I'll keep tabs on this. I'm moving to Catalunya in the new year so if something's going on in Madrid then I'll travel on over.

It's so British to hate change, isn't it? I bet some of you lot still hate the Itchen Bridge for taking the Woolston Ferry's business away! I'm not buying this "Uber is taking our business" claim by the Hackney cabbies up in London. I live up here & have been using Uber for a couple of years now, never a problem. Uber's trade is coming from mostly bus/nightbus users and those who would normally go and sit in the office at Station Cabs waiting for a private hire; that's who, if anyone, is being hit by the surge in Uber popularity. The Hackney's trade had been reducing in recent years due to the sheer cost of using them! Take Uber away, usage of Hackney cabs will not increase anywhere near significantly enough to count, trust me. An example, 4 of us disembark at Clapham Junction late & a bit ****ed after the match and have up to a half hour wait for trains to our various ends of South London. Our choices are to either wait then tap-in our oysters and pay a couple of quid each or request an uber, spending pretty much the same each. Chuck-in a cold wet Wednesday in January & it's a no-brainer. Yet, faced with a choice of a Hackney or a nightbus, the decision every time is to grab some fast food & wait for the trains. Besides, Uber's market share has pretty much plateaued now. There's still a demographic who will always flag down a Hackney, so that trade won't die any time soon. Even if it did, another company (Addisson Lee for example) would compete with them more closely in order to bring the fares back down. So Uber is in Southampton now? F-ing marvelous! Anyone who has ever tried to get a cab during peak kicking out hours to, say, the Pilands or any other outer-lying area of the city will know that the cabbies won't want to take you. With Uber, the driver cannot tell where they're taking you until you're sat in the cab and they're obliged to accept it, so great news for anyone in that boat specifically. Lastly, the done thing in London is to not leave the Uber car until you've seen the driver swipe the "completed job" tab at the bottom of his app. It registers instantly on your own app so you know then that you can leave the car and are at no risk of being ripped off. They're all used to being asked that now.

Your memories of the great Saints/ Southend love-in....
Sydenhampton replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
That was so funny at the end. "Spongebob, give us a wave" followed by Patrick pointing at himself as if to say "my turn", but it took about a minute before anyone knew what he was called before the song went out! What a great day that was. -
Dele Alli has the player award wrapped up, surely? Great to see VVD recognised though! RK though, much bigger shout. He should win.

Spare ticket for Palace away wanted
Sydenhampton replied to Sydenhampton's topic in Saints Away Supporters
When it comes to trusting people off the interweb for spare tickets, Saint Keith is Good for his word. Cheers! BaldBarbarian, not so much. -
I can remember a young Paul Moody smashing it for Fareham Town back when I was at school, he was quality. When he signed for us I really had high hopes for him. I think Branfart did too, or at least "high hopes" were his idea of a pass from defence. Sadly he turned out to be a bit of a fish out of water for us.

Cheers fellas, it would seem my pal is sorted now. Thanks for replying. -
So a nice group of us are looking forward to Palace away on Saturday! Sadly though, one lad is ticketless & as it stands will have to wait for us in the pub. Can anyone help the plight of this poor creature by donating a spare ticket? He will reward you with beer & of course the cost of the ticket itself. He's a good lad too so if you had a ticket & it was situated next to you, you wouldn't have a nutter or axe murderer to deal with! It's a long shot I know, but worth a go.

My local is a great choice for pre-Palace drinking. It's called the Bridge House Tavern & is adjacent to Penge West station, no more than 20 mins door to door. Penge West to Norwood Junction is 2 stops and 4-5 mins, after which it's a short walk to the ground. A few seasons back a decent sized group of us went there. We left the pub at gone 2:30 and were there in time for kick off. It has two spacious indoor bar areas, a 2-tiered large garden which includes a covered bit with heaters for the smoky bears. It's also well worth considering if you're thinking about lining the belly as their food gets them rave reviews. Only curve-ball though is that they have a strict no colours rule, so if you show up with so much of a scarf, your stay won't be so long! Getting there? Personally I'd head to Clapham Junction, get a train to Crystal Palace (every 15 mins) and from there take a 10 min short cut through the very pleasant Crystal Palace Park (google it). Penge West itself is on the London Bridge - Croydon line. http://www.bridgehousese20.co.uk/
