  1. Doesn't stop teams like Chelsea spending £25m on 25 youth prospects and loaning them out. Imagine how much courtois would have cost them if A Madrid had bought him 2-3 years ago...

Glad to see him doing well, ripping Man Yoo apart tonight https://mediacru.sh/qOs5TJfaueE2 https://mediacru.sh/n9isVIEZe99o https://mediacru.sh/PJCsFGsc74yT
  3. Hutton dressed as Lahm
  4. Facepalm pic didn't work, doesn't make u lot any less pathetic.
  5. Koeman said about the Swindon game that we 'lacked a cutting edge' in front of goal and this was definitely an issue last year. Got me thinking, how much of MoPo's training regime was about finishing in open play? Alot of it seemed to be down to structure, positioning and fitness levels, which for the latter, Adkins had laid alot of the ground work. Anyone with a better knowledge of the the training schedule care to elaborate? Would be interesting if anyone has an insight into how RoKo has switched it up too...
  6. I would guess it's more about our high pressing game & attractive football we play. Plus we are the 'in' club atm, the neutrals favorites, and ultimately viewed by the media as the best of the rest. The only thing worse than people talking about u is people not talking about u
  7. And i was thinking I might get an answer, instead this has gone completley off track...
  8. And dors this mean the pompey shirt will be dug up....
  9. We don't need it because of the coastal winds and the gulf stream. Never had a frozen pitch. Just a thought... How do PL requirements fit into the finances with FFP regulations?
  10. Although we finished in the top 8 we are still being seen as one of the bottom 13. If we were one of the 7 clubs above us how much do you think shaw or lallana (and others) would cost to secure them? Or to put it another way, how much would united have to pay arsenal for shaw? The probable answer is they wouldn't sell unless the player forced it through or we got an offer 40-50m plus, and it would still be down to the player. Obviously this is all speculative but then so are the endless rumours. As with all transfers, comparisons are hard, taking in inflation and the individual nature of footballing talent. And as a footnote, surely the prize money from this year will cover any outstanding transfer fees we owe. Does the '27m debt' we have actually have any bearing on what sort of offer we accept?
  11. Brilliant year, we won the Premier League 'B' title by a mile.
  12. so i don;t have the knack of made up gold like you do tbh i didn't even try this year due to wasting so much time last year. the only tickets I could get were fulham and I was only eligible for 1 seat. like i said, no fun.
  13. As someone who can't afford the time or money to buy a season ticket, (and lets face it, a single ticket is no fun you've got to have a pair), I'm so fed up of being on a waiting list for everything. Season ticket holders already get a cheaper seat, and priority to away games. Living in London, the only away games i've managed to get to in the last few years have been sitting in with the home fans using friends seats at WHL and the bridge. For fairness, I'd much rather have a raffle where every 'member' gets first chance to buy tickets for one home and one away a season, you can buy or opt out, and over the course of a few years you would get a few big games, and an away game or 2 you might fancy. the current system isn;t really fair on anyone, even the points based system didn;t work, i got less points for going to a league cup game on a tuesday night than the arsenal game at home last season
  14. Assistant manager Jesus Perez on why Southampton made six changes: "Obviously, it was a tough game against Hull [on Tuesday], we played away as well, we came home late and some of our players were not fully recovered and we decided the best players to play today. "For us, every single player is important and useful for us and it doesn't matter who is on the pitch. "There was a lack of freshness, that's obvious, but nothing more."
  15. we we're 3 points behind man yoo and 6 points behind everton, and 11 points behind spurs. for context everton were 11 points behind arsenal at the same stage. no denying our season has tailed off but we we're still in the chase for a top 5 finish, if anything this defeat only highlighted our lack of depth in the squad and the fact that we still have a championship quality bench.
  16. pfff, we are still the FA cup scapegoats then... it was poor journalism after the defeat to sunderland, and still is. Both teams made a number of changes, and it was an awful game of football, and the press jumped on the loser as the bad guy of the FA cup. It is not the fa cup is insignificant, it is just a lesser competition these days. If we take hull, and say the don't beat arsenal, they will have made about £2.5m in prize money and they will qualify for europe. going on current positions, and last years prize money (this years is considerably higher anyway) the financial difference between hull in 13th and us in 8th is £3.8m. Until the fa cup has a bigger incentive, be it money or a champions league place, it will be considered less significant, and with some teams playing 60+ games a season now from round 3 you could see your self playing 6 90 minute games and 2 120 minutes games. had we won that game sunderland would have been branded as the bad guys of the fa cup anyway, journalism is dead and football journalism has rotted through. I actually came across 2 articles this morning that said luke shaw is a step closer to signing for man yoo because.... he's now following phil neville on twitter! and being a club outside the current top 7 no one really knows us so much of what is written is crap anyway since we got knocked out of the fa cup, we've gained a league place, and beaten our biggest rivals 4-0, which should have been 12-0. our season is over more to the fact of the chasm we find ourselves in between 7th and 10th, we don;t have much to play for in the league, and a lot less than the teams we have been facing in the last few weeks.
  17. one win away from having the same amount of points as QPR got in total last year even if we trail off and finish in the bottom half, this year has already been a success. even if you don't consider a core of this squad has made this sort of rise in the last four years
  18. actually if it was out of warranty i could just pop the back off and replace the battery for £15
  19. so you pay an extra third for an extended warranty, basically. a nexus 7 with extended warranty is still cheaper than an ipad mini. lol
  20. More nonsense. Bought a nexus 7 just under a year ago and the battery is playing up, called Google, they talked me through a reset. Few weeks later sane problem, they said give us the s/n, so I did. They've just shippd a new nexus against my Google account, and Details where to send the old one. I can't walk into a shop, but don't even have to leave the house.... You also bring yup the price, if I was paying an extra third four the v same product it'd expect **** to work. Never had a Samsung, Sony or Asus product die on me after a few weeks so never had to resolve it. Even dropped my phone in a paddling poll this summer and our still works :-) For any more myths that need de bunking?

  23. David O'Leary Ireland May 2003 July 2006 35.88 % win ratio Martin O'Neill N. Ireland August 2006 August 2010 42.11% win ratio Gérard Houllier France September 2010 June 2011 38.89% win ratio Alex McLeish Scotland June 2011 May 2012 21.43% win ratio Paul Lambert Scotland June 2012 Present 36.36 % win ratio looks like hiring a manager who just got a (rival) club relegated is the downfall in the system, let's make sure we don't do that. the lyon system would never work in this league, as sstated if you sell to clubs outside your league they can't finish above you. also, the french do not have a history of any one, or two, or three club(s) dominating. when lyon started their rise the most famous french team, st etienne, were in the 2nd division
  24. Talking football with a couple of colleagues yesterday, the point was raised about how young our squad is, and actually working it out, providing we keep hold of our academy players, leaves for very, very positive future. Without buying anyone else, going against the trend if buying one or two superstars each summer, here is a possible line up 5 years from now. Boruc - 38 Clyne - 27 Shaw - 23 Lovren - 29 Yoshida - 30 Spiderman - 29 Wanyama - 27 JWP - 23 Lallana - 30 Gaston - 27 J Rod - 29 This isn't specifically sating where will be in 5 years, but more of the potential this group of players has over the next 5 years. Boruc seems to have a new lease of life, so who knows how long it could last, and Gazza will still only be 26. Also, Chambers is untested at CB, so have put yoshi in there instead, but another young option. To quote Holloway, we are definitely an orange club, the future's bright.
