How many international teams have had Saints players?
SaintPC replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Saganowski = Poland Did Kanchelskis play for Russia while with us? Doubt it as he wasn't here for too long. -
Good to know. Thought I heard this on solent, but perhaps going mad either that or solent talking rubbish...

No shots on target apparently! Says it all really. We need to be giving the better teams at least a game. I only listened, but based on commentary is very disappointing. I have no problem with losing if you make a good effort. Too much respect perhaps??

Getting my first glimpse inside the Dell as a 10 year old will always stay with me. Couldn't believe the size of the place at the time. Even walking past the Dell as a kid was a bit special. Lived in Fareham at the time so probably could have chosen the dark side, but for some reason this never even occured to me. Southampton til' I die. I still get excited for a match day 23 years later regardless of league, position, team, manager, chairman. No other club will ever do.

Summary of Nigel's Post-Match interview after Leeds
SaintPC replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Sounds to me like he knows that he doesn't have a lot of time to sort it out and simply doesn't know what to do to get the players motivated. I honestly don't want him to go but he has to have the means and thought to change things when it's not going well. You cannot just keep sticking your head in the sand and not changing one up front when you are 1-nil down. Having said that, the players need to have a bit of intellect to change tactics when you have not had a shot on goal all game. -
Even with a second choice side why can't adkins motivate the team with the chance of getting through to the quarter finals. To carry on playing with one up front when one nil down and then bringing on kids just makes no sense. What was he thinking? Thing is there seems to have been a number of times when I have thought this both this season and last, but we got away with it last season in the most part. This season we are being found out and now against a not brilliant Leeds side is embarassing.

Even though it is his first game for us Boruc was poor and for me should be deemed third choice after that, Fonte was poor, Hooiveld looked better for most of the game but his defending for the third goal was terrrible. Yoshida out of position and not a winger. Clyne, a good player but still young, inexperienced and developing in this league. Howeever after their third went in our backline fell apart. I am not a Guly hater, but his pass led to the third goal and I thought that he just doesn't have the necessary attributes to play in this league. Lallana, other than the goal, in and out of the game tbh. Schneiderlin and Davis covered a lot of pitch, but didn't have the creative flair needed to open up an average West Ham side. We really missed Ramirez IMO to settle the game down in midfield and put good balls into the box. Rodriguez showed glimpses, but the balls to him generally were just not good enough. Puncheon, in and out of the game tried to create but very little end product. And finally, why oh why was Lambert not starting - I understood it to an extent against Man City, but this is West Ham surely you play to win even if you are away from home. On the basis of that Spurs is not going to be pretty....

Gutted about the result but we were immense today. JWP was a different class, Lallana and Punch on the wings looked right rather than JayRod who is not suited to that position IMO. Can't help but feel that we lost that with the subs, we just seemed to lose all momentum going forward with the three changes. Fox, honestly really not convinced and KD was his own worst enemy at times, but we know that. Taking the positives, for me for the majority of the game we were the better side. If we play like that against Villa then I am very hopeful, but who knows which saints side will turn up the Manchester team or the wigan team.....
-
In perspective - we knew we wouldn't win every game and yes we've been beaten today, but still a long way to go. It makes the Reading game all the more important, but we are still top, still the team to chase and today's game will hopefully ignite the rest of the season on to becoming champions. Still the best team in the league, still the very best team in the south... COYR

What the hell is wrong with Butterfield? Although to be honest nobody (including Lallana) is covering himself in glory.
-
Knew it would be a hard game, but we just haven't turned up today. Makes the Reading game all the more important. Blackpool are playing well but they are by no means the greatest team I've ever seen.Good to hear the vocal saints supporters still singing especially as there is nothing from Blackpool considering they are 3 up on the league leaders. If that doesn't make you sing nothing will!!!

Oh forgot about Punch, in which case Punch for De Ridder on bench.
-
Wouldn't start with Guly IMO. Chaplow is a much better bet for me. Guly is too inconsistent, in the games I've seen this season he seems to panic when on the ball and just seems to want to get it away from him asap. Having said that thought he did a job on Saturday when he came on, no more though. Would also go with Sharp and Lambert up front. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding Chaplow Cork Schneiderlin Lallana Sharp Lambert Subs: Guly, Lee, Hammond, Martin, De Ridder
