  1. Seems odd, surely you'd hear about someone with THAT many? Surely at some point the punishment is more than just having your licence taken off you if you carry on repeat offending? Obviously I'm far from an expert on the law, or driving offence (never even had a speeding ticket) so anyone more knowledgeable please do correct me. If he has done this several times, then yes that is obviously disgusting. Drink driving is a careless, reckless and seriously dangerous thing to do. I personally won't touch a drop if I'm driving, granted this is slightly to do with being a passenger in pretty serious crash involving a drunk driver a few years ago. Ralf may have some points, I don't know him or Clarke Carlisle or what has gone on between them. It's clear he has an axe to grind. Personal issues aside, some of his attitudes highlight the problems of perceptions of mental illness, he actually even highlights this, here: "(On reflection, that’s the nature of addiction/illness, and I know that all too well, but as I say, a rash tweet and it’s not the place for it. )" Yet still carries on attacking him, but only because he cares so much about everyone else. It is extremely hard to understand the destructive nature of someone suffering mental illness. From the outside it's extremely hard to understand and it can be appear 'selfish'. Full disclosure, I have suffered mental health issues and take this ignorance personally. Depression transforms your brain, it is every bit an illness. I was recently trying to explain to my gf for the first time what it was like. I would spend literally days lying in bed face down in my pillow listing all the people in my life and coming up with reasons why no one cared about me, why they all hated me, and convincing myself I was worthless and better off dead. This is what depression is, the processes in your brain are broken. There's no doubt it can have serious impacts on others, like any other illness. Tell me watching someone suffer with diseases or illnesses that make loved ones slowly fade away before your eyes don't affect other people. Illnesses that make people confused, angry, and hurtful towards those around them. Strokes or heart attacks where people die right in front of their eyes - are they selfish? Or are they suffering from an illness, like those suffering from depression. Now if it is the case the Clarke Carlisle was drink driving, he should absolutely face the consequences, no question about it. If it is indeed the case that this is the latest in a long series of offences, those consequences should definitely be more severe. But the idea that people suffering depression so severe they want to take their own life by walking in front of a lorry are acting out of selfishness and not as a result of a serious illness are demonstrating a lack of understanding and empathy. Nobody wants to walk in front of a lorry, nobody wants to die (especially not when you have a young family) in such a brutal and horrific way. Attempting to commit suicide like this is a symptom of devastating illness, to call it a selfish act is a really callous thing to say. I also think the timing and manner in which Ralf Little is airing the grievances is pretty pathetic if I'm honest. Yes, Clarke Carlisle may have done some crappy things. That doesn't entirely negate a lot of fantastic work he has done elsewhere. Just dismissing things like his documentary, which thousands found extremely helpful, and the other work he has done for mental health and equality are to be commended. Attacking the man based on his illness and the less savoury actions that can lead to is really, really low. I've posted this before, but it is worth posting again: Edit: sorry Hypo, this is not all directed at you, just to clarify.
  2. Probably been said before, but I'm too lazy to scroll through. People that get irrationally angry whilst driving. It's utterly bizarre just how worked up people get whilst on the road, people don't act like that walking down the street, why do it in a car? For example, had a man in a Range Rover right up my rear end honking his horn and flashing his lights accompanied with shouting and gesticulating at me on the M1 last summer - whilst stuck in bumper to bumper standstill traffic. He was signalling me to move out of his way, which was both impossible and pointless as the traffic was solid. Utter idiot. Also, people who get out of their cars and start screaming in the street at each other over basically nothing. Awful people.
  3. Got a pretty decent Gameboy emulator on my iPhone at the minute. Playing Pokémon has made my recent commutes infinitely more enjoyable, even if it does garner a few funny looks from the folks around me heading to their respectable jobs. Gonna crack on with Zelda now I've finished that Will concede though that Android is most likely better for emulators.
  4. 1) Morgan 2) Toby 3) Vic
  5. That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
  6. Yeah, it's shockingly poor. I don't really think of them as Dance Music, it's more inoffensive pop I think. Saw a bit of them at a Festival and they were quite enjoyable, like some of their tracks. Can take or leave them really.
  7. Was that part of the reason United loaned Falcao? I suspect his injury record may also have played some part, but seem to recall this was mentioned also.
  8. Ok, turns out I may have got my wires mixed up. He was there unpaid prior to QPR: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/harry-redknapp-returns-to-bournemouth-as-a-football-1311343 Seems that may well be a different role, apologies: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/420513/EXCLUSIVE-QPR-Harry-Redknapp-Bournemouth
  9. I could be wrong Windows, but I thought he was doing that free of charge? I thought that was what was claimed before he took the QPR job on?
  10. Isn't he in charge of Jordan or someone like that? Think he's having a shocker as well.
  11. That said, surely they can only get better. Right before they play us. Great.
  12. I do think it was a red, but I'm not sure on this. I saw it as a tired/desperate lunge towards the end of a game that was slipping away, as opposed to a malicious swipe. Just my take though, I could be wrong on that.
  13. Yup, I was shocked at first, but when you see him go over the ball (even though he touched it) and go through the man there is only ever one outcome.
  14. St Vincent are cracking live if you havn't seen them (sorry if you have) - they really were a highlight for me at Glasto last year. I kinda like Hot Chip... http://www.readingfestival.com/line-up
  15. Haha, let's not get too carried away just yet. Annoyingly, Arsenal, Spurs & Liverpool are starting to look good.
  16. As said, it does seem the deal for Toby is somewhat more complex. Athletico may well fancy their chances of getting more wedge elsewhere, and Toby may well fancy seeing who else comes knocking, he may well get offers from CL teams. As unhelpful as this is, these deals vary depending on the individual or club in question. There doesn't seem to be a set way these play out. The Bertrand deal was pretty straightforward, loan agreed with agreed fee, player happy to get first team football at Prem level and club happy to move the player on. Seems both Athletico & Toby are hedging their bets a little bit more than Chelsea/RB. Effectively, option to buy can mean a number of things. Though, in practice means a bid of 'x agreed amount' has to be accepted - unless other stipulations are in place, and the deal is then subject to player agreeing to move.
  17. Wouldn't normally put this here, but as we were talking about it: http://www.greenman.net/ Looks impressive so far, better than Reading & Leeds which is having a stinker.
  18. That only works on the assumption that all religions and everyone of their followers took religions scripts and teaching literally. Which isn't true even close to being true. Again, saying the only reason anyone believes in god or follows a religion is because they are 'stuck in the bronze age' is both ignorant and massively disrespectful.
  19. I get the comparisons, but I'm not sure if I agree. Suarez would give, then throw himself all over the shop if the wind changed. Costa seems to accept that if he gives it, he's going to get it back. On a slight tangent (sorry, Pap don't yell at me again plz) I saw this description on Twitter the other night, thought it was spot on: ‏@JananGanesh Costa is the archetypal Mourinho player: self-made, late developer, radiates aggro, somehow more than the sum of his parts technically.[/url] I do like Costa, he's a proper nutter in (just about) the right way. I certainly wouldn't like to come up against him.
  20. They'll be alright with Remy/Drogba I reckon. All* my mates are particularly salty about this, which is always great. Edit:* meant to put Chelsea in there, but it pretty much works without it with where I'm from.
  21. Is part of Cork's problem not that there are 2 homegrown, academy talents coming through in CM?
  22. They can't do this. It's not allowed under PL rules.
  23. Completely fair enough, as far as I'm concerned. Good luck to the bloke.
  24. Just stumbled across this, which I really enjoyed. Need more from both Joy Formidable & Passion Put in my life
  25. And the Tory MP on the board of that company is, coincidence?
