Not going to jump on replacing DH just yet. He can still be the Club Captain, in a way I think KD probably still is. However, if Hammond isn't on the pitch, then it has to be Rickie for me.
-
I'd certainly be happy with this, should it materialise. Talented, tricky and whilst he has moaned to the press a couple of times - it has only been about wanting to play more. Considering how little playing time he has been given under Redkrapp I'm surprised he hasn't thrown a lot more full-blown hissyfits. Spurs supporting mate of mine rates him v highly. Before the 'Tottenham Reject' tag comes out - lets not forget bout 'Arrys tendency to have favourites. Or how he treated Bale at first, wasn't he set to go out on loan to Forrest a few years back? Only got in the side due to BAE getting injured.

Oh shi!t me too! Freaky!

This for me, or possibly Rickie away to Millwall. How important were those two smash & grab wins?

1) I like his lack of concern for anyone else's opinion. He does what he wants, and he wants the best for Saints. 2) I think it looks good.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
On the topic of Brum (players), I like the idea of Mutch, Morgan & Corky in the same squad. -
I bloody love Cortese, this pretty much typifies why. I absolutely agree. Felt at the time it was our 'MK Dons' moment for this season, if you know what I mean...
-
So a striker then? Putting the ball in the next, what he's paid to do? This thread shows how pathetic and hysterical fans can be. No doubt it won't be long until another signing is questioned on the basis of 45 mins, and I bet the same lot slating Billy will be at it again, having learned nothing.
-
Yes, he has made some mistakes - but the man undoubtedly makes decisions based purely on the belief that they will be best for the club. There is not a single Chairman in Football I would trade our Nic for. He is bigtime - and clearly wants to take Saints there with him!
-
The man holds a special place of his own in the history of our modest club. Statues, Stadium/Stand/Training Grounds named in his honour, Messages of thanks, nothing bar nothing will ever truly convey the gratitude I feel for Markus. Made me teary eyed hearing his name being chanted yesterday, not often a late billionaire I never met will have that affect on me. I just wish he was there, scarf on and armed with his camera and toothy grin. He would have loved it as much as any of us. A true Saint, with a place in every Saints Fans heart. Never forgotten Markus, thanks for everything. We wish you were here, this is all for you big guy!

Managed to stop running around screaming for a minute or two now. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Get the funk in you funking Stripey BarStewards! Done us proud today, so pleased Lallana, Sharp & Jos got on the scoresheet. Just need Sir Rickie to get one to make it perfect! Never doubted it at all! Statue for Super Nige? Christ I wish I was down at St. Mary's, though I wish more that Markus was there! Never been so happy about Football! Come on you Super Saints! WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!!

KelvinsRightGlove replied to Saint_clark's topic in Computer Games
Nov 2016 Having a stinker this season - currently 8th. Won the Prem last two Season's though. Still got Corky, Morgan & Lallana, though only Lallana starts v often! Got some awesome gens come through. Carlos Fierro is the the man! Lacina Traore & Andrea Poli at £2.2m each have both been steals! -
Is he not permanently treading that fine line? Anyway post limit done. Pleasant day chaps. Keep calm & Keep the Faith! COYS
-
That you are, though this place wouldn't be as fun with out a few nutters...

Alpine in another 'me me me' thread shocker. Then in surprise turnaround when others disagree, he jumps to the new line of 'I'm such a victim, everyone on TSW is so mean to me. I really cannot understand why. Woe is me'.

Should Brighton be investigated for Saturdays game ?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Yes & Brighton still have an outside chance of making the play-offs, and in that 'lottery' may well get promoted. It may seem unlikely, but stranger things happen quite regularly in footyball. The very same £90m windfall was not out of reach for Brighton, so for them to throw the game over some over-hyped non-rivalry with us is just ridiculous. A line of argument with holes bigger than an 80 year old hooker. -

So, just clocked this on the Barnard thread. That you not making sense again? One rule for one thread, another for another? -

Seeing as your argument is pretty much, well there's no proof it didn't happen. I would think maybe a bit more evidence is necessary. As you said yourself, you didn't even watch the game. So you are basing this on what exactly? It might have? Also, how can the Play-Offs be a 'lottery' & Brighton still have 'no chance'? Are you one of these people who splits his sides when a former convict wins the lottery? Forgetting that it is a 'lottery' and that therein ANYONE can win? -
Dominated possession, couldn't convert that into goals. Never fancied us to win last night, Reading have been flying - deserved the 3 points for taking their chances last night & probably deserve to win the league for this run they are on. Fair play to them, I'd much rather them over WHU - that's for sure. Saints played OK, if some of the chances we created went it it would be considered a good performance. Midfield were caught in possession FAR too many times, I lost count of how many times Hammond & Chaplow were caught in possession. I like the pair of them, but judging on last night, they may not be near the first XI IF we do get promotion. Anyway, time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down & move on to Pboro. 3 points is a MUST. A win will make everything look a lot better. No time to dwell on this game now.

Get chappers off, having a f@%$ing stinker

Great article. Worth noting that even the Barcelona players don't come through as one single crop, or even at Man Utd. Players come through, make the first XI, supplemented by talent sourced from elsewhere, then a few years later maybe a few more players do the same. It's not about immediately producing one team containing 7/8 academy products. Looking at Barcelona - Valdes is 30, Pique 25, Puyol 34, Fabregas 24, Xavi 32, Iniesta 27, Messi 24. Obviously this is skewed a bit by Pique & Cesc leaving and coming back again, but it does show that their squad of 'academy graduates' doesn't come from one single crop. I think if you look at Utd it's probably pretty similar. I'm not saying in 10 years Saints will be winning the Champions League twice in three years like Barca, but it has to be seen as a model worth following if relative (PL sustainability?) success can be attained through supplementing the first team with players of sufficient quality. If we can keep a few good players that become core players of the a decent squad there's no reason once every few years we can have a successful season, which even if players are picked off will generate revenue - which can be reinvested into the squad.

Sounds amazing! Housemate of mine is a big everton fan, and keeps an eye on all thing Saints. He is forever telling me he would personally kill Bill Kenright in the centre circle of Goodison at HT with his bare hands, whilst naked, if it meant Cortese would take over. Cannot for the life of me understand the mindset of the Cortese 'bashers'. In Nicola we Trust!

Great input there. Your concise insights really are an asset for this board. How exactly am I living in NC's arse? Just putting a different perspective on things. Which others have also referred to. If appreciating the good work someone has done for the club means I 'live in their arse' then call me an anal dweller. I never said I agreed with NC's decision, I just stated that he can pretty much do what he wants, and that on balance it is hard to argue with the progress made under NC. Which again is agreed with by many others on this thread.o Come back when you have something intelligent to say. Until that point drag your knuckles back to your hole. Better luck next time.

Petty? Maybe. The fact is though, SFC is now a privately owned company, run by NC. IF Nick Illingsworth was a regular in a pub and then started to slag off the landlord to everyone else that frequented said pub then NC would be well within his rights to bar him. As I see it, it is effectively the same deal. SFC is run by NC, if NC see's it fit to bar people that slag off his work then there's little anyone can do about it. Personally, I don't really understand how anyone can be overly critical of Cortese. I am not saying he has made no mistakes, or that he is beyond reproach or questioning, but I really believe the progess SFC has made under his tenureship is unquestionable, and he has played a MASSIVE role in this. For this Cortese has earned (IMO) maximum levels of respect and deserve massive amounts of credit.
