So is anyone actually playing? Currently a very comfortable mid table with Saints.

FM13 Network game... anyone interested?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Crab Lungs's topic in Computer Games
Always been curious as to how these work. Would be interested to get involved if poss? -
So you dislike the prem, but will still moaning about how we are doomed to get relegated? Which begs a few questions: A) why are you on here? B) why bother continuing to follow saints this season if you know how it's going to end? C) what numbers are going to come up on the next euro millions?

Don't get me wrong, I love Ricky, but at that sort of money you would have to seriously consider it. Though if Jarvis is worth 10+m I would suggest the other two probably also are, in my opinion of course. Nice to have a thread slightly different to the other ones going around at the moment, may I add.

How on earth did I forget Freaks & Geeks & Curb?! I love these shows! People who love The Inbetweeners really should watch F&G, it's infinitely better. Plus, look at what the cast have done since, Jason Seagal, James Franco & Seth Rogan.

McNulty drink driving is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I still just watch that sometimes for the LOLS. The Wire is fantastic, though for me, Sopranos is king. I've been watching Breaking Bad, I do like it, but don't think it's in the same league as some of HBO's output (how are they so good by the way?). It also just reminds me of Weeds too much, which I'm also a fan of. Nancy is simply amazing. Boardwalk Empire is worth a mention too, stunningly good show - and as per with HBO, plenty of boobies, which is never a bad thing really.

Thanks for this, you haven't mentioned it at all, anywhere else.

Ffs, I'm not saying we have done well, but a season is not decided over 9 games. Yes, we need to get DRASTICALLY better. Massively, massively better. But it's not as if it has never happened before. QPR and Wigan looked certs for the drop last year, yet both stayed up. WBA were written off when bottom at Xmas, and no one have us a hope the great escape year (funny how short all you with the p!ss stained pampers memories are). As I said, we need to buck our ideas up massively, but our season is now coming to the important part. As has been mentioned in other threads, come tues we will have played all the top 9 sides, leaving us with a run of fixtures against teams around us - realistically, it is these games which will decide our fate come may. If we carry on being as poor and pickings up as few points against these sides we should definitely worry. Though let's not forget we do still have January to improve. Yes, it would have been better if that was done in July, but it wasn't. It is hard to strengthen in Jan, but it can be done. QPR strenghtened massively in jan, and I would argue they probably would have gone down if it wasn't for that. Lets also not forget the impact of a certain mr. Sharp who was signed in....January.

So just to clarify, you don't like the prem, would rather saints weren't in the prem, but are also going to b!tch and moan about us being in the relegation zone?
-
which is the sopcast one?

United signed Taibi & Bebe, should we be disappointed we missed out on them too? Everyone makes mistakes, granted Fergie's are fewer & atoned for by signings like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That aside, it's probably hard to say. Adkins & Fergie both clearly see something in the lad. I only saw parts of him last night, looked busy/lively going forward, was definitely at fault for Braga's opener. Not sure he will be a world-beater, but probably a decent player. Unconvinced whether he will 'make it' (sorry - hate to use that phrase) at United.

Are we not better off in a lower league?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to sotonian's topic in The Saints
I really don't understand this stance? Surely you want to support a team that can pit itself against the best the world has to offer on a regular basis? Is that not what professional sport is all about? The best competing against the best? -
Are we not better off in a lower league?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to sotonian's topic in The Saints
No, obviously not. The aim is to achieve as high as possible. Players, as professionals will want to play at the highest stage, against the best possible opponents. Surely as fans we should want the same? The Premier League is amongst the best, if not THE BEST, league on the planet. Yes, by and large it is the same teams challenging at the top, but this is much worse elsewhere. In terms of competitiveness, if you compare the EPL to La Liga, Real Madrid (1st) finished 44 pts ahead of Atletico in 5th, whilst in the EPL 44 pts was the difference between Man City in 1st & Stoke City, in 14th. Yes it's hard to adjust from being favourites every week like we have been the past 2/3 years, but I would certainly be a small fish in one of the biggest ponds on the plant, than be favourite against teams like Rochdale & Carlisle week in week out. It will be tougher, and we will get beat a lot more. But look at the players we are coming up against. Tevez, Aguero, Silva, United needed Scholes to turn the game & a Van Persie hat-trick to turn us over, Podolski, Jelavic, Fellaini - these are some of the best players on the planet. How people can't see how Saints are going to fair worse against this standard of players than we have become accustomed to over the past 7 years is totally beyond me. -
Crikey Alps, I find myself agreeing wholeheartedly with you once more. WTF? Redknapp probably has a hand in all these rumours to be fair. Think of the frenzy the hacks got themselves into regarding him and England. He was never even approached. Just because the media continue to propagate this story, doesn't mean it's true. As I have pointed out previously, a proliferation of stories if often caused by journo's and press agencies picking up a (non)story, which may very well be rumour/pure speculation, and rehashing it to fill paper space. I have a good mate who is a sports writer, and has told me this is fairly common practice. (For what it's worth, he also seems fairly confident that the Harry talk is pure b*ll*cks) As for the OP's claims to have no agenda etc, it's quite frankly rubbish. You are making the same points you continually make RE: Adkins/Cortese and the distribution of power. You are taking half-comments/rumour/speculation and presenting it as FACT, which it simply is not. Pointless thread.
-
I'd go even further if I'm honest and give Shaw a go. Can he be any worse than what our defence has done thusly? Let's face it any points picked up against Spurs are going to be both a surprise and a bonus. May as well give these two a go.
-
You aren't allowed to do that! Things are set in stone as of now! Nothing will change! Why bother watching the rest of the season?

Anyone else reminded of Poortvliets reign..?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Speaking of Wotte, Anyone else see his comments that Scotchland would never get anywhere until their nippers ditched their diet of Buckfast & burgers. Made me lol. -
Well seeing as we can't do a huge amount about it until January, what is the point in acting like a brat and getting ones knickers in such a knot? Fonte, has looked ok in spells. He hasn't played in this league before, and may well be still adjusting - or is that a totally alien concept? No player has ever had a rocky start to their Premier League career before getting better have they? Teams do get better, and it can take the smallest thing to change around their fortunes. History is littered with such examples. Who knows what a bit more tinkering could result in? Clearly this alone, or some magical divine intervention isn't going to save everything. But stranger things have happened, and will happen again. A couple of good, even flukey, results could quickly turn in to a decent run and players confidence may well return. Or should the team, management and fans just take your view that nothing can be done, the season is over and we already relegated? All I have actually said is that as of yet, there is still time to turn things round, and we are not yet as f*cked as the message you and band of (un)merry matrons like peddle around these parts.
-
Tell me where I have said it is good? Or even, anything short of awful. The stats don't lie, our defence is by far the worst in the league. BUT, despite this, we are not yet miles adrift at the bottom of the table. And to the best of my knowledge, the season does not end after 8 games. There are still 7 months or 30 games of the season left. Yes, if things carry on as they are we will be in trouble. However, I don't believe we are at the panic stations WE ARE DOOMED point which you like to purvey at every given opportunity. However you have chosen to ignore this, and make an entirely separate point.

Can someone explain to this broken record how a few bad results does not a season make. can someone that has frequented this forum longer than I inform me if this person resorted to the same petulant bed-wetting & foot-stomping after our bad runs in L1 & last season? I do seem to recall a few times last season where said poster was quite categoric in his assertions that we would not get promoted whilst in the midst of our bad run. How'd that prediction work out for you?

KelvinsRightGlove replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Haha, only too happy to dish it out, and then whine like a baby when any comes back. Anyway, that still doesn't make the man 'tactically clueless', as you suggested. 'That level' is still a very high-level, the Championship is still amongst the most competitive & most watched leagues in the world. -
Too late? It's not even November! I'm not saying we are doing well, or that things don't need to (drastically) improve, but this seems pretty knee-jerk to me. We aren't even a quarter of the way through the season, and we aren't (yet) adrift from the table yet.

Can't really see who out there, that would be a realistic - or even slightly ambitious (equivalent to Ramirez) target, would do any better.
