  1. Questionable Maths if you ask me. One non payment out of what is probably what, thousand every year = 85%? I hope he isn't a maths teacher?
  2. I would love it if he joined Saints. Probably for all the wrong reasons. He was a large part of my childhood, and a massive idol for me as a nipper - and it is something that has never left me. How people can say he wasn't great are clearly kidding themselves. '97-'03 he was one of the best midfielders in the world. For a very long period he dragged a distinctly average England side by the scruff of its neck. For example, a team including players such as Danny Mills and Trevor Sinclair. Like I say, I would love to see him at Saints, purely for personal, irrational nostalgic reasons. And the chance to have Beckham on a Saints shirt.
  3. Sorry lads have I upset you? Offended one of your pals? I wonder why you are both so quick to jump down the throat of anyone that criticises a fellow cortese bashed eh? If you could point me to where I have criticised him personally? Or said anything to suggest he is not indeed a 'top lad'? I couldn't possibly comment on this, having never met the chap. But clearly it's fine for you to start slagging off and name calling anyone that questions someone that takes every story to come of SMS as the worst thing ever, and we are the worst club ever in everyway. It's as if Cortese and Saints are the only company (which lets face it, every single professional club in the country, if not the world are now). That ever do something that upsets other people or its customers. That wasn't the bit I was referring to. But congrats in proving your own point. Top effort. Extrapolating one half of a story, to make statements such as "If you couldn’t put food on your table because Saints hadn’t paid their bill", is there any evidence of this? Nah course not. But hey, as always, why let evidence get in the way of a food whine? It's Daily Mail-esque predictive misery - oh Everyone at the club is so mean? What next? Viewing tax to be able to see the pitch during the game?! Oh my god, everyone out! As for head in the sand, I would argue you lot the perpetually p!ss-drenched pampers are equally guilty. Any negative story is absolute proof of how awful the club and those in the club are - which are often, not always, based on hear say, rumour and speculation. Yet when an actual good news story comes out from the club, or those involved, it's all just smoke and mirrors, what else are they going to say blah blah? Pip pip!
  4. Why isn't Lambert in that pic celebrating he must be off in Jan. FFS, Lowe out.
  5. It's a shockingly awful piece of journalism. Ignoring the story for a moment, it really is. It's all based on ifs, buts and imagined hypotheticals. I would have been chastised for putting out a piece like that when I was doing a bit of writing, at that was at a level much lower than the echo. The story isn't great, and does reflect badly on the club, button again there is a lack of communication from the clubs side, so to pass (fair) judgement eith way is pretty tricky. I swear this Dan Kerins bloke is a skate on a wind-up? I seem to remember reading several other articles slagging the club, and Cortese despite a pretty large gap in his knowledge.
  6. He scored for Villa, more than once.
  7. Alan Carr's, yes the really annoying chatty man, old man plays a big part in their recruitment up at NUFC
  8. 7) Do you actually follow football? Are you aware that Liverpool have Brendan Rodgers in charge? Do you have any idea how he sets his teams up? Rickie Lambert is not a good fit for Liverpool. Gaston Ramirez is from Frey Bentos, does that mean he is going to leave us in a jan for a tinned pie?
  9. I've lost at least 6 this year.
  10. I'd take (I'm sure I will get plenty of stick for this) ability over experience any day. Kelvin - much as I love the guy - doesn't look up to it. Boruc is an odd one. On paper, a good signing, would have thought he would waltz into the first XI. However something looks amiss. Totally feasible that it is just a lack of match fitness, but I do have my own questions about why no one else picked him up?
  11. I'd plump for Gazza at the moment. Granted he was at fault for the goal on Sunday. Other than that, I have seen nothing to suggest that he doesn't have to potential to make it as a Premier League goalkeeper. Well worth remembering that in GK terms he is practically a toddler. For me, he is only going to get better.
  12. Also, is Clyne absolutely turd for anyone else? He had a couple of injuries, but ended up playing Frazer more often than Clyne.
  13. Finished season 1 last night. Had a shocking final few months to the season, ended up 11th. Annoying really, was pushing for Europa League at one point. Going to have a proper Summer clear out. May flog Lambert, who couldn't hit a double decker bus from 10 yards second half of the season, plus he is after a 50k p/w contract from me! Already got deals for Muniesa and Hegestad tied up. Going to try and source me a few Worldie wonderkids.
  14. This thing about Cortese taking a loan 'against future income'. Granted, my knowledge of the finance world and the nuances of loans is at best, severely limited. But, surely, by definition any loan anyone takes out anywhere ever, is on the basis of future income? i.e. to alleviate cash flow problems, I take sum 'x' now, and pay this back with future income over term 'y'? No?
  15. Personally, I'm shocked he made through Tuesday. That said, I'm glad he is still in charge. I really, really hope nige can turn this around.
  16. I may be totally wrong, in which case I sincerely apologise. But, am I right in thinking that we haven't had a manager complete two consecutive complete seasons (August-may) this century? I only started following saints c.2001, and can't remember a manager completing two seasons. This seems staggering to me, and perhaps symptomatic of our troubles in recent years. I'm sure there are some who will chastise me for this thread, but I think it's genuinely interesting, and if I am wrong, I am happy to be corrected. Thanks in advance.
  17. Quick, run, the thread police are here!
  18. I think this is a good, honest OP. I don't really agree with much of it, but that's my prerogative. As I have said in discussion with you in other threads, I want my club to be amongst the best competing with the best. For me, I would rather be 16th (for example) in the best league in the world, than higher in a lesser league. I guess both are legitimate, albeit differing, views of what one wants from their team.
  19. Thanks for the concern, I too hope this is overly premature. I just struggle to see a way back for Nige now. I do really, really hope I am wrong though.
  20. Let's face it, the guy is probably on borrowed time. Stories seem to be gathering pace of his imminent departure. Personally, I really don't want the guy to go. For me, he is a bona fide Saints hero - 2 promotions in 2 seasons is a fantastic achievement at any level. I must also admit I am kind of surprised he is actually still here, given not just results but performances. I hope this is premature, and I'm still unsure as to whether anyone else can do better, but should the axe fall, I think our Nige deserves to be remembered fondly. So, if this is your swansong Nige, thanks for all the memories - and presiding over 2 of the best years in my time as a saint.
  21. Same here. Had to tinker with tactics a bit to get going in the league, shocking in the cups. Going 4-3-2-1. gaston and lallana off Rickie or jay. Managed to convince nicky to get Bocchetti in for me - he spent £13m on him. Yoshi is poor.
  22. The RBs. My 5-a-side team.
  23. Exactly, no man is born in a vacuum. Of course they are going to be influenced by those before them. It's not as if the Beatles, kinks, small faces etc. weren't influenced by anyone at all? Weller is a legend.
  24. How foolish of me, I must have missed the memo announcing you as the arbitrator of what is appropriate or not. You just carry on moaning about the players, board, fans, manager, everything about the club - and then be indignant at anyone with the cheek to question your support? And then go round calling others morons. If you can't link the two, its clearly you who are the moron.
  25. What was that first sentence? Pretty sure that's using an insult? You would be slagging people off there mr Turkish would you?
