What are you implying Mikey? Do people take naughty things at Glastonbury? -
People accused of Sex crimes named or not?

Taking the blinkers off? You presented a hypothetical, and then after the fact said it is something that you used to do, and your partner liked it. That's deliberately misleading. It's a cheap trick to get a 'Gotcha' moment. Also, really can't help yourself can you. I don't have to be outraged to disagree with people. Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true. I really wish I could remember the thread where Bletch made this point, as it is something that happens a lot on here. -

I said it was desperate, the same way I do whenever people come up with all these alternative scenarios to try and demonstrate why men are really the victims, and the world is being ruined by all the nasty false rape claims, which has already been demonstrated as a tiny percentage. Also, you prove your own point to be daft by saying how much your ex enjoyed it. For you to know that, you've probably had a conversation about it, that's starting to sound a bit like consent? But hey, shift the goalposts and tell us all about what you and your ex used to get up to to win interweb points. Nah, still not outraged. Just y'know discussing viewpoints, which a forum is for. Funny how whenever this topic comes up I'm either angry, confused, outraged etc. attributing feelings to me that I'm not expressing. Bletch has explained this previously, in a much more eloquent way than I can. Speak to him about how silly and disingenuous a thing to do this is. -

Lol, why exactly am I outraged? It's Friday, I'm perfectly happy. -

Jesus wept there is some desperation in there. Also, being married has absolutely no bearing on anything. If a man/woman rapes their wife/husband then it is rape. Whether or not they are married is neither here nor there. If she's asleep and he has sex with her, of course it is rape. You cannot consent if you are asleep. -

That's a particularly poor strawman. Where did I ever say it is ok to ruin anyone's life? By that same token, why is it ok to assume that any person claiming to be the victim of rape be presumed guilty? Why would you ruin their lives by assuming they are guilty and dragging them through that, for 6%? -

That's completely untrue. As Smirks correctly points out, it is an extremely hard crime to prove beyond all doubt. The law is riddled with holes, getting off in court does not mean any claim brought against you is 'false'. -

These seemingly endemic false rape claims that get talked about on here are still far outweighed by the number of rapes that go unpunished. It's also worth mentioning, that someone accused who is not found guilty is not necessarily innocent, and the claim is not necessarily false. It's scary that people seem more concerned with tackling false claims which are relatively low (not to say those false claims aren't awful, and it can have terrible consequences on people lives), and not the disgustingly high number of rapes and their pitifully low conviction rate. I largely agree with the points SoG made that it is a particularly tricky issue. -
How many penalties should a team get per season?

You know how some random goals just really stand out in your memory? This is one for me: For this reason, I 100% support your proposal. -
The fact she 'stands out', kind of proves my point. Anyway, got to go. So can't continue this for now. Apologies.

Lol forever. She's wearing an orange suit! So what?

Because media shapes people's views. The Daily Mail website is the most read news site on the web. Said website chooses to comment on the most prominent female MPs outfit, nothing about what she has done, just what she is wearing. Not any of the 500 or so men, just the most senior woman. Now, not only does it comment on her outfit, it chooses to compare her to a glamour model. Which as we have seen is a profession that will cause many to look down on the model. This happens all the time, because the society we live in is sexist. This isn't just some bloke making a daft comment in the office/down the pub. Again, 500 male MPs, 150 women MPs (no sexism there either) the only one who has their clothing discussed is the most prominent woman.
-
Hmmm, funny how the article feels no need to mention the attire of any of the men in the HoC that day. There's what, around 650 MPs, of which around 500 of them are men. Not a single prominent male MP has his clothing commented on, yet arguably the most prominent woman MP does. Further more, on a conservative leaning site, it compares her to a former glamour model. Now, what are generally the attitudes towards glamour models amongst right-wing types? What has been the attitude of men on here towards women that pose for photos? Undeserving of respect, deserve what they get etc. But no, suggesting Theresa May looks like a glamour model in Guantanamo Bay has nothing to do with sexism. Definitely not.
-
The Daily Mail, aka the most read news site on the internet? You can't really hand wave it away with 'just the Daily Mail'. Tell me, what does Ms. May's choice of outfit have to do with the budget announcement?
-
So, remember when I said we live in a sexist society? And I was mocked for it. Tell me, how is this not a pretty damning demonstration of it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3001672/Theresa-sat-suit-low-cut-taken-Sam-Fox-QUENTIN-LETTS-sees-theatre-Westminster-unfold.html

Getting 25K deposit together still isn't easy!
-
Colleague at work has just bought her first place down the road from where I am renting. 2 bed flat in Leyton (granted it's a decent location, but far from the most desired) for a touch over £300k. Even living with the gf, and us both having decent jobs with reasonable incomes paying rent and trying to save that kind of deposit will take forever. As I said, between us we could afford a mortgage. But rent is so high that it seems a long way off before we can even think about it.
-
Apologies, I missed that. Is this something new announced today? Havn't had a chance to get up to speed with everything from today.
-
It's not that I don't want to save, I just struggle to save any meaningful amount whilst also paying huge rent on a tiny flat! That seems to be the problem most people my age (I think I'm a few years younger than you, right?) have. The only people I know that have bought around my age are people that have had help from their folks. Granted, I grew up on the edge of London. So prices are pretty darn expensive. But, I think it's a pretty similar story in a lot of places.
