  1. God can you imagine the absolute fit alpine will have if we dare to sign an attacker before signing a cb? Remember it's not just important that we sign the right players... But we need to do it in the right order.
  2. No-one on here take a punt on arshavin? Must say I'm surprised, scored or assist every other game for arsenal. Good for a season or two I reckon if we played him in his best position... No?
  3. Top, top bloke the zds was my first ever game (hence my moniker) and I lived opposite him for a while. RIP fella.
  4. I thought I read that they are due another -10 next season as well? Even without that they're not exactly in a great position.
  5. Don't think wages will be as much of an issue as is being assumed on here. A year ago he was released by Milan, only to sign a years contract on significantly reduced wages a few days later. Think if both us and villa 'are' interested then would assume his sights are lower than they were when left the gooners. I think he'd be great competition for morgs and cork.
  6. He had a very widely known release clause in his contract. All Chelsea had to do was bid this, there were no other bidders... Hence why it was so easy
  7. Classy player, great to watch
  8. I hearted fabulous fabrice... And anders as well for that matter
  9. I am wondering whether, after we have played Villa, I'll stop getting 'villas to go' adverts popping up on this site? Anyhoo, hoping for nice morale booster this weekend but benteke does worry me. Think 2-1 to us.
  10. You are so dense you seem to have managed (from the evidence of your 'contributions' to this thread) to have misunderstood how the transfer committee works (which is quite something since it really isn't complex). Agents don't negotiate with the committee, that comes later and is handled by cortese. The committee decides our targets and if you think it is wrong that the chairman is on it, the one who knows the finances, then you are a complete tool or a WUM. The committee is there to prioritise positions, look at who is available versus what we can afford and decide who we should progress. if you are arguing the chairman should not be involved then you would appear to be advocating the 'blank cheque' approach that has been so disastrous for others in the past. As much as anything else, canvassing a broad range of opinions should ensure a stronger decision in the longer run. It seems to me from your posts that you either don't like supporting this club very much or that you are pushing some lame WUM angle... And dragging every thread down to your level of ignorance.
  11. You have said this a lot and I dont really agree with you, with puncheon and Lallana as inside out players they naturally play narrow and any of those two and Ramirez get up and support srl. Morgan and Cork do get up the pitch and break between the lines they tend to sit more to allow the front 4 more freedom as well as allowing the fullbacks to occupy the space left by Lallana and puncheon.
  12. He's probably a bit busy preparing to answer your team news questions...
  13. Cmfg's goal away to Ipswich. The way the crowd noise built from ironic cheer when he turned his man to near crescendo.... Then silence as we didn't know if his shot had enough to cross the line... Then pandemonium when it went in. Brett got his first saints goal that day as well.
  14. Their commentators were biased as fook. No mention of the blatant foul on our cb in the build up to the equaliser. Macheda is a chippy little ****
  15. You're obviously wrong about it being the last time we played them but thanks for posting anyway. Possibly my favourite ever football moment, and the noise was incredible!
  16. To be fair, it worked pretty well Carroll never had a sniff, it's just when we went behind that we collapsed as a team, now we are collectively more confident and cork is screening the back 4 we might be able to re-integrate some of the players who have struggled, we will need to utilise our squad players before the season is out.
  17. I think Yoshi has looked a good signing now he is getting some cover from CM. That said, watching the 'highlights' of the Stoke game at the weekend and I was thinking how they would murder us on set pieces. Would get Jos back in for that game.
  18. The fox substitution made sense yesterday, despite the forum deciding otherwise, we were pressuring qpr by playing through them but Fox gives us those killer deliveries in from deep which added variety and gave them something else to worry about. The biggest thing for me yesterday was how confident we looked, gazza excluded, right from the off we looked the same, confident, side of the last two seasons.
  19. Argh I lost the stream in the build up to the second! Same again second half saints!
  20. Let's hope we capitalise on it!
  21. I thought we pretty much set up in a 433 yesterday, well more of a 4231 really. Mayuka could probably have come on for Punch, but even near the end of the game Punch was getting in behind, would've been harsh to bring him off. IMHO
  22. If you're looking for negatives (all the time) then you'll find them. I don't understand the negativity from yesterday. We looked pretty good to my eyes and while the result was gutting the performance was a good one. Cork coming back in stiffened us up and as a result the defence looked less stretched (give or take a couple of dicey moments). I fail to see the logic from those calling for NA's head. Is there an alternate universe where under a different manager gazza clears that ball up the pitch... Mental. Onwards and upwards with Adkins!
  23. Interesting. It's interesting how people bang on about stability and yet after a (relatively) short run of poor form (i mean relative to the previous 100 games) the knives are out. There was a similar business study into the 'hero CEO' effect, which said there was a 2 year cycle after which CEOs got binned, short term results improved then things reverted to where they had been, or got worse.
  24. We have exactly the same weather here... Short sleeves and Sun cream for all today ;o)
  25. Agree with this, although it did make me smile to read the obligatory 'he inherited a good set-up' line that the mail are legally obliged to credit Lowe with everytime they mention Saints...
