  1. It was in reply to something someone said above not a point about Hooper. I have mentioned that in my other posts that's the main reason I could see him moving to get a call up for England as Sutton shows doesn't matter if you are better than everyone or most of their strikers they wont pick you.
  2. Hello again on the attendance averages just to point out in we were in the championship/ premiership it would be 60,000 but trying to get that amount to watch Inverness really is impossible if your team isn't full with Larsson, sutton, petrov etc. To the person above me saying we will slowly inexorably decline i sadly have to agree if you look at our team the year we got to the final and ended up getting beat undesirably by next seasons champions league winners Porto. Since then we have been downsizing massively hiring Gordon Strachan to spend little and win the league still then a rookie manager in Lennon i fear for what comes next although to Lennons credit he has put together a strong team for what he had to spend. Anyway back on topic in that Hooper wants pay rise article there's not one quote regarding a contract terrible article tbh.
  3. Sorry for double post didn't see an edit button? On the financial situation we are in minimal if even any debt and could spend but since the debt we got into in the O'Neil days our chairman and Peter Lawwel seem to be only concentrating on 0 debt.
  4. Cheers! Also earlier on in the thread there was talk about Commons as well he is a great player but don't think he has it in him to stay committed at a club for example he was a star last season after we bought him in January for peanuts but all these stories coming out about him arguing with the back room staff etc. i think it would be a bad move to go for him.
  5. Been reading this thread with interest the past couple of days, first off ignore hooper88 any Celtic fan could see the attraction going to Southampton would have first off the wages are better ( yes seriously) Hooper will be on 10-15 grand max. Secondly he's English he will want to make a shout for the England team for the World Cup and there's no better place than the Premiership, Chris Sutton showed you can score goals all you want up here but its not going to get you an England cap. The last point is he will want to work with his old manager of course. But I think some on here struggle to see why some Celtic fans think he shouldn't want to go to Southampton obviously we have the bigger club argument but that's been said to death on here so I won't go into that. Most Celtic fans feel that if he does leave he should go to someone better than Southampton i.e established Premiership club like say Newcastle(i know they just got promoted but still safer than Wigan etc.) Also the fact that it is in January we haven't won the league for 3 years we don't have back up for him as it would only leave us with two out and out strikers. Putting all this together i would be very surprised if Southampton signed Hooper just because its in January come back in summer with 7m and we will bite your hand off imo. One last point to make on Hooper i don't watch Saints so i don't know what formation or style of football you play but Hooper needs someone to play off close by someone to play a quick one two off to get him playing his best. If you get him your buying a poacher with lighting acceleration and good close control. Also remember he has also scored goals in Europe i.e Udeinse away this season so i think 7m is justified in the current transfer market. (to who ever said Southampton get watched more than Celtic as the championship is televised more places defiantly haven't done there research biggest club in north america.) Good luck for the rest of the season lads and hope you's get Promoted.
