  1. Prowsey will be on more than 60k per week. When he signed that deal he was the top earner on 100k with a rumoured clause to maintain highest wage and likely a percentage wage rise increase each season - if you assume he's had 2 years of percentage wages rises plus the rumoured 40% pay cut this summer, he must still be on at least about Β£70k per week. So clubs will have to offer him a fair wage to get him.
  2. That's good because we will sell them πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚. JWP is staying though 😎πŸ’ͺ
  3. Its academic Hypo, he isn't leaving this window😏. He might go in January or next summer depending on how the season goes - But for now i remain firmly as convinced as Fareham that he's going o be playing for saints come October. Only way that changes if someone gets desperate and offers silly money/wages.
  4. In all seriousness, anyone who is good enough for pep to put them into that Man City side is more than good enough for saints in the 2nd tier.
  5. What are they going to do if their players on short contracts want to follow Martin and put their foot down on the move? We can basically wait until the end of the window and still offer less than other teams in that sort of scenario... And we'll get them unless Swansea want to lose them for free next summer etc. They really don't have much of a leg to stand on. I'm still chuckling that they've paid Martin's wages whilst he was on holiday and working for us, and they still got the reduced compensation for him joining a championship team (shock horror) πŸ˜‚πŸ€£. They had a reputation as a difficult club to deal with, and so far they've lived up to it. Quite nice for once to see saints play hard ball contractually and shaft them.
  6. Ah yes, basically πŸ˜…. I just mean that accusations currently relate to payments to receive stuff / keep quiet. But i wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being more than that once it all comes out πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... And similairy ruling it out seems premature. Especially as there is certainly an incriminating photo doing the rounds - although whether genuine or not who knows.
  7. No, the unknown presenter is accused of paying a 17-20 year old to send photos? Nothing has been said about them sending them?
  8. There are certainly some incriminating images doing the rounds on this front.
  9. Pretty much have it there clear as day - he was a Β£7M signing to improve the squad (which he did), and to have potential for the future (which he does)… I do not know why you've decided to stand on the particular hill of "Edozie is a failure" πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ - its not like we're short of bad signings last year!
  10. Yup, crazy how people keep referencing him and overlooking this.
  11. Unless you're egg, in which case the u21 squad player is the failure πŸ˜‚
  12. I have a feeling morgan is also available this window...
  13. No... He joined aged 19 and showed a lot of promise for a player getting his first taste of first team top level football. Their ages / experience make a like for like comparison fairly irrelevant, but the facts are Edozie is younger than tella and got first team minutes in the prem last season....
  14. The way i see it - Its very clear that Lavia is a wc central mid in the making, and the profit on him will at least pay for all the others. All of them were players for the future, and i've seen enough from Bazunu and Edozie to be confident they can do a good job for us this season in the champ, and if given that chance, they'll develop in ability, confidence, and stature. Players like Morgan, Lallana and co didn't walk into the first team at age 19/20 and become immediate stars - they grew into that. If we sign these kind of players over consecutive windows, then we will have a conveyor belt of talent developing and coming through - it takes time and doesn't deliver immediate results - but long term it should prove successful. If we pick up Tinos, Alcarazs and Lavias in amongst that and turn a profit / pay for the others then it pays for itself. We didn't get relegated because of the youngsters. Our best players last season came from the u21 bracket - with the exception of JWP. We got relegated because we failed spectacularly to buy good attackers until too late in the season - and even then we wasted a small fortune on fees and wages for players like Onuachu, orsic, and Aribo. Which left us with Theo and Ely getting too many minutes than is reasonable for a serious prem team.
  15. My understanding was that, as with a few others, he fell out with Les Reed. Koeman was similar. Once they became too important (and perhaps realised it), they tended to get shoved out the door one way or another by Les and co. Usually with the SFC PR machine of that time doing a number of them as well.
  16. New mananger? Blimey that was fast! Did Martin not bring and assistant with him as well?
  17. He has the experience of promotion within a dressing room, and perhaps even more importantly, of relegation - and the moods, warning signs, and required motivations to optimise the dressing room. As stated before, i think we've got a good manager and will have a very strong season. The simple fact that he isn't Selles or Nathan Jones, and the fact that we're dropping down to be a dominant team will all provide a fresh start and refresh to the entire atmosphere around the club.
  18. Could this means bye bye for Tella or Sulemana? If we are seriously interested it also indicates that Martin really is going to change style to adapt to more dribbling / ball carrying - A marked change from his Swansea team.
  19. Yeah, he's 19 now - its a fine age for a player with potential - look at Tella who is about to turn 24.
  20. I think we'll wait until we get towards the end of the window. Reality is that prem clubs are going to get desperate. There has been a lot of central midfielder movement already and teams are going to miss out and will make moves for some of our players. We need to play the market correctly and try to predict which ones when building our own squad.
  21. A thread that further underlines both Fareham's and my confidence in JWP staying at saints. There basically isn't anyone else. Although for spirit, i'd pick Alcaraz - ignoring the reality that he's got the temperament of a firecracker that doesn't seem to have the engine to play enough minutes... plus he is even more likely to get sent off than Lyanco...
  22. Nah, according to our non "tourist" fans its a fluke, we don't have any real fans outside the city and certainly not enough to run specific shuttle services to St Mary's πŸ˜„πŸ˜‚
  23. I never realised we had a grouping of fans that think you had to physically live in the city to be a real fan of the club and not be "tourist" fan. God forbid you grew up in the surrounding areas such as Eastleigh, Totton, Romsey, Salisbury, the new forest or any of the surrounding towns/villages... Let alone if you've moved away from the city or have family ties? If this isn't a wind up its certainly a minority of fans. Would go so far as to say we would do very well to lose any fans with that particular viewpoint immediatley. Staggered that people can be that ignorant to the number of out of town match going saints fans, or quite how broad the Southampton fanbase is in the south / sout west, or indeed nationally... Let alone actually being critical of those fans?!?! I guess they thought it was coincidence that the traffic, parking, and train service becomes magically congested on any given matchday, and obviously a complete fluke that club run shuttle services to the train station as well. πŸ™„ I agree with SaintsFan86's sentiments above re anyone subscribing to those viewpoints.
  24. Agreed. Baz is better than Macca, the decision to drop him once we were all but relegated was farcical as well. I would expect him to be more than fine at this level. Our defending was horrendous last year.
  25. Yeah exactly, whenever you read stuff like that you flat out know its nonsense πŸ˜„. Club captain walks into local supermarket, starts declaring to random customers that he's leaving the club... but won't let them know where... just a sly wink wink nudge nudge and a "tata for now". All the while he and his agent keep quiet in the media and he leads the club's preseason media campaign πŸ™„πŸ˜„. And playing devils advocate on that whole theoretical interchange, it would be more likely that he'd say that if he was staying... for the simple reason that if he was off, he wouldn't say anything 🧐.
