He was **** yesterday. And **** against Fulham. If Ferguson can drop Rooney I think we can drop Ricky 'the god' Lambert. God what poor argument. Dunno if u noticed but his replacement made the goal. Worked himself some good chance. Your opinion is wrong. And FYI, I have watched a lot more than the last 4 years. Which is probably a sounder base for my opinion than 4 years of lower league football. If u think a top striker, which he is, can't be dropped for, and for good reason against west ham, then your opinion is just wrong. He was crap, along with a lot of our players second half. To say he is our best player when he is laying like **** is delusional. No one has that status automatically. Not in this team anyway. And he was dropped so he didn't tire himself out as well
-
Sorry mate but Lambert was ****. Simple as. Best players for saints were guky, jay rod and Adam. Morgan was solid first half, as was jos to give him his credit. Second half should just not be talked about defensively. But we made west ham look very good. Had to sit in the middle of the home fans listening to the singing 'we play on the floor' at the end of the game as they gave themselves a pat on the back for scoring 1 goal in essence. We score 4imho.... 3 at the wrong end. Lambert did nothing. No shots on target thati can remember. People need to get a grip. It will be a long season, we have played some hard teams so far and we are still in touch. We currently have 1 fit full back and are playing a cb down the left.... where 3 of their goals came from. No real surprise. First half we totally handled them. Jos was all over big old Andy and we were good on the break. An unlucky free kick and spill from the keeper and suddenly Adkins should go and has lost the plot. Good grief. What do u think is harder. And whatever happens support the team ffs, if we go down.. we go down. You were happy with Adkins and saints for the last 3 years. Would a return to winning the championship be so bad n hat basis... yes of... Adkins is miraculously **** all f a sudden..... Jesus h Christ. Grow a pair. Also, guly was good yesterday and not a single goal was remotely his fault... yet I find myself reading comments otherwise aligned. What an embarrassment.
-
Did you go to Upton park. Guly was literally one of our best players. Ffs. Literally what a **** pointless comment that is moaning for the sake of it. Carroll was offside for every single goal kick. Including the one that won the free kick and penalty... not guly's fault.... lino was a bender. First 2 goals were very unlucky and came down the left, 4 was class and fair play. Stop slagging off players when you clearly don't have a clue.

We won't get into Europe, England have to come top 3 in Europe for that to happen don't they? fat chance. Interesting post though, something to be proud about, we are joint top with everton for positive play

I love how certain people are so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. If you want to know something they will freely give you their opinion. It is so helpful to have their common sense available to cut through all the crap that the majority spew....

Our Future? Stadium Expansion Proposal on Season Ticket DVD

Love it, turkish getting facepalmed! Quality! -
State the obvious why don't you... On a serious note, my concern is that we are going to likely have the midget duo of JWP and Davis, (both under 5ft imho ) against some towering powerful africans who will literally destroy them through strength and not having to jump to win headers. The only plus side is that with no Vaz Te we may not get a rodgering down our left. However, nice diagonal balls to the back post and u have carrol vs the landlover clyne. I his feet do leave the ground it will only be to fall over. All this said and done, I'm sitting in the west ham section with a gills supporting mate, if we are winning I am fully intending to stand up and sing "we are southampton, we're taking the ****" about 3min before the end and when I have halfway down the stairs I would love a cheeky 1-0 win tbh, maybe with taylor getting sent off and AL diving to win a penalty.... ahhh, that would be heaven!
-
Why do you say that.... its like one win between now and the end of the season is good enough is it? Not for me personally.

Does Lallana need dropping to give him a kick up the backside?

Can we call a vote and shame everyone who goes with yes please? Another post that makes me question the sanity of saints fans. -
In fairness I missed the first half, but the second half our support was superb. Atmosphere was crackling - on tv. Now I have been on several posts in the last couple of weeks criticizing people who attack other teams home support and pointing out how poor ours generally is. The simple truth is the club (NC) massivley ****ed up ticketing policy - from the prices to the website. The corparate boxes are a joke and will stop us ever selling out this season. All that said, we looked very good on TV. Empty seats or not. And I would rather have a cracking atmosphere than what goodison park was alleged to be like - a graveyard.

Please ban the above poster, frattonizer style. It is the only way to deal with opposing views imho

Is this a joke? Guy was disgusting. Who gives a **** what he did at charity when you consider what he did to young girls. Christ. I will assume you have not heard any of this.

Personally I am gutted about this. I have a mini programmes collection for all the key matches in my saints lifetime, as in the last game at the dell with the FA cup paged singed by Laurie M, games we got promoted from both division, fa cup, jpt etc etc, they are memories. I hope this does not make it much harder to buy them, also what was the comment about "they will no longer be able to get season tickets so they are screwed? did they get free entry for selling them?

If you could pick one player from another team in the PL....

I am amazed no-one has said Joe Hart or similar tbh. Its like you think Kelvin and Gazza are good keepers? -
I watched MOTD - Gazza should have saved 2 of the 3 goals. Won't start the next game I bloody hope because Kelvin would have got them. Although he probably would have ****ed up some other way ..... :/ Oh Artur!! The holy goalie better be good or we are going straight back down to the football underworld!!!!

CB Fry, thank you for a sensible response. I think though that you have slightly missed my point in that our debt was blanked - most of which was to buy the club and spent on investment anyway. Hence the £3m net spend under Adkins. With that debt removed, we have spend a large proportion of this years TV revenue on transfers and the rest will go on wages. The wages we can handle under tv rights. The transfer fees would be reclaimed by selling the young players who will all increase in value. Therefore we are in a position whereby we will not go below the initial budget level upon promotion. Chelsea have spend unsustainable amounts of money on players - hence the repeated debts for the last 3 years of circa -£70m each year (on the back of £230m record turnover.) Surely you can see the difference between their rare record turnover and our guaranteed 90m upon promotion.... Also, good luck to them in selling Hazard, torres etc for much of a profit. Now, if we continue to spend big then I would look again, but right now, we can stop spending massive somes of money and our team would improve simply because they are young and have great potential. We allready have a lambert replacement fighting in the wings and he is our major concern for the next 2 years. Everyone else can jog on for another 4 seasons pretty much. Therefore in my book we are sustainable at this moment. Chelski are not since they require oil money to pay wages and invest in massive transfers with sod all to no resale profit to be had.... Big difference in my book. We spent money we can afford and are guaranteed, chelsea spent someone's oil money..

FFS, Andy good effort, but you really need to understand that Turkish is either just trolling or a nutter. I agree with SaintAndy and various others stating that our strategy is clearly different to the supposed big 4. We spent big this summer, using the £40m tv money from sky. This has been invested in top quality young players. Future England CF, RB and a new KaKa. If we survive (ofc we will) we won't need to blow the boat massively next year and can begin steady growth like everton et all, buying the odd good buy and letting our quality youth players develop. The only major concern in terms of age is Lambert - and he has another 2 season in him before he is likely to old. If we go down, well hey, we sell and get our money back or better for players like ramirez. Hence our loss over 12months is negated. We then have the enlarged parachute payments and whats left of our old championship topping team with strong youth players. AKA we really should be fine. In terms of our comparison to Chelsea. They are making a 70million loss despite setting a record turnover due to a very lucky season in the cups - champions league etc. They won't do this every year. They have since spent an increased fortune on players with **** all resale (no one is topping £35m for Hazard - the silly days accross europe are gone. I quote turkish when I say WE were 7th highest spenders in Europe and our highest transfers was £12m followed by £6m). Chelsea etc can't have that season every year, or if they do, other teams are not sustainable in their place. Therefore, they have increased their wages - which they couldn't afford in the first place. If the backers leave these clubs they are ****ed. Many have huge debts and massive wage demands. Without the excessive amount of money laundering they will go under very quickly. purely from wages. I mean ffs Turkish, you really are obtuse. How can you compare our transfer strategy with TORRES to chelsea. They would need to make profit on all their star players to sell torres and get their money back. If our owners left, as i have said. most but not all of this seasons TV went on transfers, we have roughly 25% left for wages. Next year we can not spend and improve simply by young talented players growing as footballers. IF OUR OWNERS PULLED OUT, WE COULD STILL PAY THE WAGES.... our ambition may decline but we would still be sustainable. Bare in mind that this is on the back of having our previous debts blanked - so from this season onwards we are sustainable. Bit hard to understand. Male it simple for u..... No more oil - wave goodbye to city and chelsea No more swizz chocolate - we won't be getting fat on champions league football anytime soon. Give us 5-10 years and their is no reason we can't do an everton - considering they have done it with a club on the fringe of big financial troubles for the last few seasons... Thats my view tbh. As stated, how you can argue that or strategy is similar to Chelsea and $hitty when you look at transfers like Rodwell for £15m, and Torres is just flipping mental.

Lol. Rose tinted glasses. I can assure you he lost the ball a few times. Some even sloppily. And his free kick was a disgrace. However. Some of his play is fantastic which makes it worthwhile but please. Control the superlatives.

How many will Lambert score this season................
Saint86 replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
It would be a dream him he got top scorer. Literally he should just retire. Golden boot in all divisions and no caps for England. Considering he gave up football and worked in a factory to get where he is today... he is already a legend and a fantastic role model. He will always be a saint when he's done and it almost feels like he is getting everything he deserves season by season. I don't think you can doubt his determination to achieve his goals nor his ability and work ethic to actually achieve them. He says he wants the golden boot and to get an England cap... I would not bet substantially against him. He'll get 20+ no prob if he stays injury free. But I want to see him and Adam in an England team together. **** it if we go down.. but those 2 in white would make any season for me. -
Slow down. I don't want to get excited but to my memory, this guys is decking class. One of the best keepers outside of the Buffon etc grouping. Why the hell have we only given him a 1 season contract. He has the potential to be the best keeper we've ha din recent times. Looks crazy to boot!,!

I agree cbez. Up and away is an over oppinionated no it all who clearly didn't watch the game. Their goal was due to clyne and punch ****ing around at right back and giving the ball away a few times in 1 min. They were two of our worst players first half along with Morgan. Fox was unlucky to be subbed but for whatever reason it was a good sub so fair Doom's to Nigel. Richardson was solid and clyne was inspired on the left allowing him to use his pace through the middle and cut inside at speed against slow turning mid fielders like a bloody rapier to their under belly. Who new he was good at left back. Also, the guy who said he was left footed above... who were u watching? It was noticeable that he stayed off his left foot and avoided using it. Morgan improved second half and puncheon is just an enigma. Can be so dangerous going forward but equally he can loose the ball just as much. His passing was average, his goal was a lucky reflection and the first goal was a massive error by him tbh. Loosing the ball for no reason by the side of the box. As I said poor first half. Lambert was also crack first half and looked off the pace. Lallana was hands down our best player, worked so hard, tackling back, beating their players at ease and great assist for the first goal. Ramirez was quality but still needs time to gel. And yoshida was solid. I actually think that jos may have trouble getting back in the team. Keeps being clumsy at this level and fonts was imperious today. For this who couldn't see the highlights or the game.. yoshi was good. Tall for a Jap, at least to my mind, very good in the air. Good control of the ball, confident in possession and a good passer. Also, our defence didn't look slow at any point today. And benteke, bent and abonglahor are not exactly slow. In midfield Davis was a literal beast. Worked hard, some good runs and passing and ran the show. Second half him and Morgan gave Gaston the time to pull the strings. Also can the idiots stop going on about Ramirez being signed as a right winger on other threads. As I've said on several threads and been lambusted for, he is going to be central attacking mid or left wing, with mayuka on the right... oh look. Isn't that what we played today? 12million to play him out of position.... ye right.
-
This doesn't exist, and has never existed. If it has then we have been failing for 100 years. Saints. win a league. Jesus, is that why alpine is always depressed...
-
FFS, GRam is not a right winger. What the hell is wrong withe people. He is going to play central mid behind the front 3 or left wing with the lallana in the midfield role. We have Puncheon and Mayuka as the right wingets and lallana and Guly can both play there. We are not paying a £12m for this lad to stick him out on the right Surely. I am like wtf everytime I read this. Nothing i have seen on him has been at right mid/wing.
