  1. Are we interested in John Guidetti? I have just heard a rumour to that affect, although it was over lunchtime drink and given with a sly smile. Dare I say this on this forum, but is there actually anyone on here who is in the know on this? Braces ones self...
  2. Sorry fonte - championship/league 1, but my meaning doesn't change.
  3. Sorry, come again? Who other than Steven Davis and fox had premier league experience.... Lambert had never played above league 1, lallana and morgan had a handful of games at championship. Hammond - league 1 Fonte - League 1 Jos - No english experience what so ever I could go on... what a joker... How you can slag the man off I will never know.
  4. I think bridge could do a good job for us, he was the best fullback in the championship last year, and look how jayrod and clyne have stepped up from that level. Plus we all know that bridge can hack it in the prem anyway. His wages would be the key factor. Another point to consider, is which young players are we going to sign to be an understudy to an 18year old? I think this is key, because unless we stick with fox (shivers) then bridge is exactly the kind of player we will be targeting - older player with experience to impart on the youngsters. Also, who better to persuade the young shaw to stay at saints than someone who went to chelsea and city and wasted his career.... He also comes back to Shefield English now and again, so still has roots here. I also would like to think that he would be interested in repaying the club and fans where he made his career... perhaps that is expecting too much. The other issue ofc is Nicola's view of all things pre-take over are bad, and should be shunned or just never mentioned
  5. I get fed up wtih people banging on bout heritage and demanding stripes. I want us to wear a miss Southampton kit next year... THAT KIT WAS AMAZING. Even watching it now I think how stylish we looked when we played our samba league 1 football! I also think that most people who bought this years kit are selling out the clubs traditions. The last good kit we had was the championship one last year! This years is a disturbing non entity.
  6. Horrendous trolling surely, all those players joined the club between the ages of eight and 12.... Ergo they are products of our youth academy. Cesc was a barca youth product, ramsay was a cardiff youth product.... I mean how the hell can you say that and then count oxo as our player... By your argument he is an Arsenal youth product.... WTF
  7. Percentage of the ground wise. A small minority want it. Personally, if people want it, the take all the seats out from northam area. The rest of the ground stay seated and are happy that way.
  8. I thought Torres played for Chelsea? At least some of the time!!!! He's so ineffective I must have missed him playing for West Ham.. that explains why he only gets on the pitch every other game at least!! Also, is this another eample of West Ham cheating their way in the world... double registration of a player at 2 clubs at once, tut tut.
  9. This is one of my pet hates at home games. Our players had slipped over 8 times in the first 8minutes yesterday. It is definitely worse for us that the opposition as well. Usual culprits are clyne, Big Jos, lallana and fonte. I think cork went over a few times yesterday. I don't know if it is our studs or our style of play or what, but i think it has cost us goals this season, at both ends (i.e lallana through on goal yesterday)... Needs sorting out for next season.
  10. Change the record. Lallana has had some great spells this year but has been injured and subsequently in and out of the team and has lacked match sharpness. He had a great game vs stoke yesterday as well. Personally I would replace Lambert, and have JRod up front, lallana , punch and ramirez/davis
  11. The lad got injured and found it difficult to get back into the team plus he has niggles on and off. This has culminated in a lack of match sharpness. Fans should be supporting a club stalwart rather than knocking him for me. He had a great game yesterday against stoke and we looked far blunter after Lallana and davis came off.
  12. Good news and never in doubt. Ill go one further and say we should be seeing stadium plans this summer... If they trully exist anyway. Would be very telling if we don't.
  13. When it comes to manipulating the fans, I honestly think that Nicola is a master. He has played us all beautifully on this one... when it came to Adkins' sacking he readily took all the flack and pressure by not attending the press conference... so much so that few people knocked Poch for effectively taking the job from underneath Adkins. He played Le Tiss into being a fool when it came to their "agreed" meeting - and numerous other examples with Le Tissier, so that the fans now side with NC over Le God... I don't think Cortese has made a single move at saints that he trully regrets in hindsight. This is just another example now, he is making a power play, and all of sudden "Mr behind closed doors" has whipped up a media frenzy for his won benefit. I have no doubts that NC is a ruthless genius, I honestly think at this point that he has intended every media interaction that has occurred, and the ones that may have gone against his plan are to small for him to care about. Ultimately, Its Nicola's plans, and he has not done anything wrong yet... so he if wants to take on the owners then good luck to him!
  14. Worked pompey, chelsea and man city in fairness.
  15. Wtf, that did not happen - post 5 for reference
  16. Hypo, it clearly states the opposite in the quote given. I know who bought the club. I am commenting that this (original version) well written, checked and reliable article has a massive error in it. Read my post before being an egit would you.
  17. "Southampton should be feeling optimistic. Yesterday’s point away to Sunderland effectively removed the threat of relegation and performances since the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as manager in January have pointed to good days ahead. However, there are issues in the boardroom. Nicola Cortese, the executive chairman, and the trust that owns the club have been unable to reach an agreement to secure the 44-year-old’s future at the club for next season. Cortese has driven Southampton’s revival from League One to the Premier League since he bought the club for Markus Liebherr, the late Swiss industrialist, four years ago. Cortese remade the club in his own image, making a few enemies but winning admiration from other top-flight owners. If he goes this summer, it would leave a gaping hole that Southampton would find hard to fill." Response :- Following this quote, we then had several people stating how this can't be shoddy journailsm, the times reporter has fantastic connections, it will have been check, dobule checked and tripple checked by the editors... etc etc etc.... Well, last time I checked - Marcus paid for the club, not Nicola - this extremely reliable item of reporting indicates the opposite. Further to that point, if NC had bought the club, I don't think he'd be considering his position as chairman. We had a 5 year plan, and it has frequently been said that if the money runs out that Nicola would take the club on with external investment... It could also be the case that if a deal has not been struck it is pending our survival. There are numerous possibilties of what could be behind this story, it may be utter crap, the trust were waiting on survival, Cortese is manoeuvring to bring in other parties... it could even be true... But, I still expect NC to be part of our long term future. I see nothing but pure rumour with no substantial proof to the opposite.
  18. Dr Who, I quite literally agree. This is my objective this season, nothing else would matter to me. If we went down but finished above them I would still have had some satisfaction. To finish below those bastards is unacceptable! I will never forgive them for singing "we play on the floor" to us at their place. Grrr!!
  19. Bale did one thing right today, if he hadn't managed that would you come out with that rubbish, lallana has not been playing to his usual standard, but he is still creating more than most of our other players, and actually runs into the box.... a few of our players could learn a thing or two from that approach.
  20. Still don't think we are safe and can't understand the dismissive tone that gets used on posters who state that fact. We have been wobbly for a couple of games now... and the big issue is that we can't score. Swansea, West Brom, Tottenham. We have created loads of chances in all these games and no goals. Lambert is getting deeper and deeper and becoming less and less effective! Concerned, but we should beat Sunderland or stoke, or both. Therefore we will be okay. I feel one more point is needed to survive, and even then it will be very close, maybe goal difference. (how many of you would substantially bet against wigan?) That all aside, we were very unlcuky today, streamed it with a tottenham fan and he thought we should have won, certainly deserved a draw. Special mention to Gully, he had a good solid game, broke up the play well, drove forward, looked committed and made some beautiful passes. Shame he got injured because I would liked to have seen more of him over the next few games if he is going to play like that under Poch, may be worth keeping! Cork also solid, didn't really do anything wrong whilst also not being very flash as usual. Shaw looked repeatedly out of his depth today, but he will learn from all of it, lennon was non existent, but walker caused him all kinds of trouble. Clyne was our other good player. He is turning into a proper class full back, looking forward to next season with him getting better and better. Look at it this way guys, we are almost safe with 2 games to go, that is a luxury for any newly promoted side to aim for preseason, and certainly a luxury for saints in the premier league in general.... it also keeps it interesting for us all, and means that the last game of the season will be a proper celebration.
  21. We've had loads of youth players in saints team and the national league are still ****. Makes f'all difference who we produce, whilst they play in red and white stripes you can count their England caps on two hands at best. And frankly, I would take NC as manager over anyone else. We have all seen what fan ownership looks like...aka pompey ^_- They all had dirt cheap quality stadiums build because they were subsidised for the world cup (and I doubt that was won legally) The only thing I would take from german football is us having a 60k stadium with the premier leagues tv money discounting the seat price and travel to and from the ground paid for by the club... or at least discounted. I cound't give a rats arse about safe standing, if people want it then that is their look out, it will never happen in england because of the 96 and frankly my old man is getting on and he can't stand for a full match then walk to and from the ground. Personally, I think we are one of the best run clubs in the country, maybe the world right now. In NC we trust, looking forward to stadium announcement when we stay up, with lampard as an added sweetner.
  22. In response to the melodramatic and ever so slightly emo teenage angst-esq thread title..... I believe he is Alpine..... To PSG.
  23. Done Kid, enjoy university. Make the club reduce the prices and you will be a hero amongst saints fans for evermore!
  24. I want to see your maths to back that up. You can't go making mathematical statements with no supporting calculations... especially on here!
