I feel sorry for him. I can't blame him taking the job as it is the pinnacle of an English manager's career. He seems a genuine, traditional chap who is clearly proud to be given the chance. But the subdued media reaction to his appointment is worrying. No fanfare, no saviour, it's like they are setting him up for the fall.

Damn you, Twitter! It had me going with the Bakerloo tunnel collapse yesterday!
-
There are reports of heavy rain and winds of up to 60mph tomorrow. Will this have an effect on tomorrow's crucial tie?
-
Twitter's going nuts at the moment that the Bakerloo line tunnel has collapsed under the River Thames.

There are none yet because nothing's been decided.

Kiss goodbye to our promotion hopes. Can't see us beating Coventry. Nothing about ability and Coventry being relegated, this is football and it is always hard to call.

Leicester have been atrocious.

You can't have been a Saints fan very long as your optimism has coincided with our poor and obvious run of results I on the other hand knew we'd blow it and think we will next weekend.
-
Could easily mess it up. Can anyone post our record at the Riverside? I have a hunch that it's not particularly good.

Any lads on the raz in Boro should go to the Empire club - quality. Otherwise, head in to Yarm for some pretentious pints.

It'll be in Reading because Reading will win it.

If we don't go up next season will be difficult and will probably be the one we were supposed to have this season. Not getting promoted this year after being in the top two will be a significant phsycological blow from which we may never recover from. I've written off any chance of winning the play offs so it's promotion or bust.

Oh no, better tell the Internet!

I'm usually pretty spot on with my gut feelings and I don't think Saints will lose this one, but I'm bricking it at the thought of Jobi McAnuff playing. He usually scores against us.

While I'm enjoying the complementary article, I'd love to read an equally praising piece from someone who doesn't have ties to Southampton. Jeremy's articles are good, but they are always going to be since he's a former Echo journalist and presumably a Saints fan. He even wrote the Cult Heroes book.

Last team to win the Championship after promotion from League One

This thread is more fun than playing Dig Dug on my old IBM PC (pronounced eebumpook). #phonejacker. -
The players have to believe. Win on Friday and West Ham lose to Brighton (it's possible) then we are as good as up. The pressure would be off as we go for the title. This is the most important 90 minutes of their careers so far.

Lansbury on for Maynard. In Big Sam we trust.

All well and good spouting all this mumbo jumbo but we are not going to win today. Hashtag psychic.

We were never going to beat Blackpool on their turf. It's not about the pitch being a bit rubbish or the players not turning up, it was a predetermined astral event. It was written in the stars (a million miles away).
