  1. The striker claim here is very worrying. Over the past decade, the club has prided itself on being able to unearth good quality players (minus Carillo) thanks to an extensive network of scouts. So why on earth wasn’t there a plan B or even a plan C in terms of potential strikers for us to sign if the Broja deal fell through? Why is a Premier League operation putting all its eggs in one basket for THE position that needed strengthening the most? This is the main reason we are in the bottom three. And if Jacob Tanswell is to be believed, Che Adams was also told he was free to leave in the summer? I just can’t get my head around it.
  2. Oh great, Chris Wood.
  3. Marsch in!!
  4. I’ve just heard Marsch told his players to channel that famous Leeds side who came from 3-0 down to beat Redknapp’s Southampton 4-3 in 2005. “do this for Robbie Blake, David Healy and Neil Sullivan!”, was the cry I believe.
  5. Broja was the player we should have broken the bank for. He will be a superstar.
  6. 12-15 points is an absolutely dreadful return by this stage of the season but perhaps we just need to realise that this is where we are these days. That’s either because Ralph isn’t good enough or the league has evolved too much around us and we’ve not moved on.
  7. Shame we were so bad in the first half. We won’t get anything from this now, Palace don’t give up leads.
  8. Caleta-Car We feel safest of all When he’s in our defence He can do anything - he’s Car
  9. Red Djed’s Redemption
  10. Awesome point.
  11. I’ve got a good feeling about this one. 2-1 to Saints.
  12. Not to be a conspiracy theorist but that reaction between Djenepo, Che and Ralph at the end was a bit weird. #drewsurmanderby
  13. Bazunu playing well again. #drewsurmanderby

  15. I’ve just heard Joe Shields is interested in becoming Goztepe’s new director of recruitment.
  16. Patrice Tano.
  17. This is the likely scenario: Chelsea were on the look out for a new director of recruitment. They’ve pinpointed Shields who has a top reputation in England. Shields wants to go as it’s a big role with a major Champions League club. Both teams arrange compensation. I highly doubt this is some player-esque situation where he’s kicked up a fuss to move away. He’s been headhunted.
  18. If Chelsea have come in for him with that role, how can you blame him going for it?
  19. This definitely isn’t happening but Rodgers would be an excellent appointment.
  20. It’s a shame Bazunu is being criticised by sections of the fan base. He’s a promising keeper playing for a woefully underperforming side lacking confidence.
  21. Last goodbye?
  22. It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out with Ralph but we are going backwards.
  23. I’m not saying we should get him back (we definitely shouldn’t) but he was getting results in the PL before being sacked. In fact, the Chelsea fight back was a brilliant performance - better than what we are serving up now. We actually beat our main promotion rival (Reading) in the Prem.
  24. Haha. Just my hunch.
  25. Cooper would fail here. I don’t rate him. I was a Ralph fan. He galvanised the fans and the players after two dreadful appointments and injected excitement into Southampton not seen since Koeman’s time. Based on Convict Colony’s summary above, and as much as I hate seeing people lose their jobs, the board has to take decisive action. This is a problem that appears unable to be resolved and is affecting morale on and off the pitch. Our biggest asset is a shadow of his former self despite Ralph largely turning him into the player he’s become, one of our new coaches left after a few weeks, and we’ve totally fallen apart since Villa with no sign of the situation changing. We are in total free fall.
