The sickener is we up our game against teams when it should be a free hit, not against our direct rivals. We deserve to go down on that basis alone.
-
Go in 0-0 and Selles’s subs will be crucial.
-
It will be interesting to see Wilcox in his role next season. It’ll likely be in the Championship but could he be the figure we need to bring stability back to the club?
-
Paul Onuachu going to be a revelation in the run in and keep us up.
-
That’s one win in five now for Selles. Relegation form in a relegation dog fight. He’s been given the job full time on the premise he keeps us up. He won’t be here next season in any capacity. He’s too proud to become an assistant again, and who can blame him? I think we will struggle in the Championship next season with this team and fear it’ll be a few years until we’re back in the PL. Unfortunately I have little hope in this board making the right appointment for us. Unless they totally blindside us with an appointment like Brendan Rodgers (it’ll never happen but it’s the type of boost we need to get this club on track again). Lavia and JWP will go, which are big blows. I can’t see other clubs coming in for the rest.

Our fans booing Ings already. Hat-trick incoming.
-
Yes, fair enough. Perhaps I should have said replacing him with NJ is the reason why we are going down. However I’m adamant he would have got more points than NJ did through our run of favourable fixtures. Now we are stuck with a run of difficult games while the teams around us have better run ins. Fulham were always going to roll over for Bournemouth today. Forest beat a dreadful Wolves side we couldn’t beat while Palace did the right thing in appointing Hodgson to see them through the rest of the season. All we’ve done is made poor decision after poor decision.

The results today don’t matter. The damage was done the day we sacked Ralph.
-
One of Marshall’s own goals came off his arse.
-
Marian Pahars and Micky Evans have to be in the running. Without their goals, who knows what sort of club we’d be now.
-
Our best shirt of the second Prem era, IMO.
-
I was right again.
-
He was my pick for us after NJ was sacked. Look through my posts. He’ll sort Palace.
-
Selles, just go gung ho. Play Orsic, play Edozie. Just attack. Forget the “principles”, they don’t work. Fans will forgive if there’s fight, otherwise we face an apathetic Championship season ahead, and I fear even more.

Saints Go Wilder.

You think this team will be sorted by getting rid of those and replacing them with youngsters? Have you seen how terrible we were against lower league opposition this season? We need an ethos change.

I posted this on Sunday. Far too predictable unfortunately. We are so easy to play against, it’s unreal. I think that’s it now. I’ve resigned myself we are heading for the drop. Those who think it’s a good opportunity for us to clear out the deadwood to bounce back up again are going to be in for a reality check.

I said 2-0 Brentford in the build up thread so I’m not really surprised.
-
I think Walcott has been pretty transformative in the way we now play under Selles.
-
Brentford have been a bit of a bogey side for us in the past three years. I can see us stumbling again on Wednesday. 2-0 loss.
-
Three clean sheets in four games now.
-
Our famous 6-3 win against United came the very next match after they were thumped 5-0 by Newcastle. And that was a great escape season…
-
Our fixtures are pretty bleak on paper over the next few weeks. Makes the ineptitude of NJ’s reign even worse.

Quite. Bazunu is 20 and some of the abuse he gets on here is just outrageous. I agree he’s looked out of his depth at times but this is a keeper in his first full PL season for a team that’s struggling. The pressure must be immense. Even a young Casillas would struggle in this team. Bazunu doesn’t have the luxury of playing with World Class defenders. I believe Bednarek was the cause of the Leeds goal and that would’ve been three clean sheets on the bounce for him taking last night’s win into account. This experience should only make him stronger. I’m looking forward to his improvement next season, whether it’s in the Prem or the Championship.

Ha Merson over exaggerating there then!
