  1. That's Lovren surely?
  2. Incredible performance. We used 8 English players today, which is fantastic - particularly compared with Newcastle, who had 1 (and even he was a saints academy graduate!)
  3. Agreed, it's so rare and implausible for saints to beat Liverpool at St. Marys
  4. But what if 7th gets a Europa league spot? Will we start playing a weakened team if we move up a place in the league?
  5. Puncheon was dreadful yesterday, not at all what we need
  6. Our bench is worth more than the stadium!
  7. Seems to be saying that Osvaldo will choose Spurs because they'll let him play the spoons. That explains a lot
  8. The Times is 6% more accurate than the Sun. Therefore we must believe their Osvaldo story... ie he's signing for Saints!
  9. We will beat sunderland, then the fannies will finally shut up
  10. Norwich aren't totally safe either. They play wigan, reading and villa, and their other fixtures are pretty dire including a finish at the etihad. They were really poor yesterday, and I can't see where their points are going to come from. Luckily for them they don't need that many
  11. Yes he did, did a full on arse-wipe in the Kingsland corner! Cue saints fans chanting Jason puncheon he shi*s when he wants! Haha, quality moment
  12. Reminds me of the Steve De Ridder YouTube Vid
  13. Agree with this. No Premier League team should be in a position where they have to bring Steve De Ridder on from the bench. A winger is an essential signing for this window
  14. This! Hasn't been used since rasiak left, this has to be Morgan's song!
  15. Seems a strange one to make up. Or is it just the case that we'll be linked with every good player who has played under Pochettino?
  16. I agree. I think he definitely should explain the timing of it. My gut feeling is that Pochettino was approached in November, and negotiations started then. Perhaps NC didn't want to disrupt the team during the busy Xmas period and viewed this January period as being a slightly better time (no game next weekend, followed by trip to OT where we're not expected to get anything) I see no reason why he couldn't have waited until the summer though, maybe MP didn't want to wait, and so NC acted as he didn't want to lose his chosen coach. Either way, an explanation would be a courteous and respectful thing for the fans and for nigel.
  17. Just think, we could have had Micky Fialka in charge if Matt had had his way. Then all of this awful mess would never have happened
  18. Hahahahaha!! Never fails
  19. Yep, welcome to the new guy. All the right people in the game have good words to say about him, most notably Guardiola. People trying to compare our situation with Chelsea are forgetting that Chelsea fans actively hated benitez before he joined, whereas pochettino comes here with a clean slate
  20. Of course they will, just like they did when pardew left. Changing managers is part and parcel of the modern game
  21. It's just such a big gamble. Every managerial appointment is, but even more so when you change halfway through a season. One of the biggest problems about this change is it wasn't a gamble that was necessary to be made right now. It could have waited until the summer. The disruption could far outweigh pochettino's effect as a coach, and there's little room for manoeuvre with only 16 games left. Gut feeling; unless we sign some real quality in the next 2 weeks, we're down
  22. His win ratio in the top league in Spain is better than adkins' win ratio in the top league in England. It's similar to Strachan's win ratio. He also took a team to the nou camp and won. With very limited resources. Not really sure what your issue is
  23. Exactly. Markus had a long term plan in place, and the majority of his investment has gone into the redevelopment of staplewood and the category 1 academy infrastructure. Maybe if pompey had done the same, instead of signing untold numbers of overpaid mercenaries with no resale value, they wouldn't be in the position they are now. There's no way that markus was trying to make a 'quick buck' and everything cortese has done up to now has born that out.
  24. Top thread. Thanks nigel. Will happily say you are my favourite saints manager of all time. In your own words, we love the bones off ya!
  25. Like it or not, adkins has built something good here. That has now been destroyed and will need to be re-built. We're only 3 points off the relegation zone, there's not a great deal of room to manoeuvre here. This guy will need to be a miracle worker to keep us up. The current squad bought into nigel and believed in him, and the success that he has brought to this club. The spirit and ethos that has been destroyed will need to be repaired, and fast.
