  1. Talk about rewriting history! Did I imagine Rooney, Lescott, Rodwell and fellaini being sold for big money to other clubs? If one of the top clubs bid £25m plus for Coleman he would be gone
  2. Exactly! Allen was the only one worth a big money bid from a top European club
  3. Remind me how they got on with keeping their best midfielder Joe Allen last summer?
  4. Yep, the argument and therefore the whole thread has now terminated!
  5. Ha, what a timely thread resurrection!
  6. The other thing about Everton, didn't their most recent run of "success" in the Prem begin with them selling a highly rated teenager to Man Utd for around £30m. This next period in the club's history may well require some patience, but financially we have an incredible platform
  7. If only we could get all our signings in early, like Norwich did last summer
  8. That's not what's happened here. You can tell that from the fact that such a wide range of fans, most of whom are normally quite balanced and reasonable in their arguments, feel this way. No one is whinging that a player has left the club. A player that we all thought wasn't a di*k, has acted like a di*k. This is an open forum where the di*kery is being discussed. There's no spoiltness that I can see
  9. Shame on you, you should feel privileged to be able to read a whole page of Adam's words. I have a feeling this advert will change my life, and the lives of others unfortunate enough to live in Southampton
  10. When will Liverpool learn their lesson about overpaying for English players who have had one good season in the Prem!
  11. Sadly, makes perfect sense What a tosser
  12. It's so surprising why he's been such a first class **** about the whole thing. Rickie and Luke both conducted their moves with a level of humility and respect. The level of vitriol aimed at Adam reflects the surprise & disappointment that he's acting like this
  13. For me, it's a combination of two things. 1) signing the 5 year deal, and making such bold and committed statements. It was basically all bullsh*t 2) leaking that he wanted to leave to the press, but not admitting it himself. Again, more bullsh*t, and cowardly. He was desperate for this "big chance" but didn't have the guts or integrity to make a public statement to that effect or to put in a transfer request. I guess because the majority of saints fans held him in such high esteem, to see this has shattered our perception of him. I guess it would be a bit like hearing MLT say "I always fukin hated it at saints, **** club, **** fans, wish I could have played for a bigger club for more cash".
  14. This is the thing, it's surely better for RK to have a lot of money to buy his own players for his system, then have to shoehorn existing players into said system. 55m for 2 players who've had one good PL season is daylight robbery!
  15. Seriously, where's the picture? This thread needs that picture!
  16. There aren't many clubs who can turn down £30m for a left back. A left back, unless they're a goalscoring, assisting LB will never be a game changer. If we reinvest in two attacking players that we otherwise couldn't have afforded then we will be in a better position overall. If other clubs want to pay silly money for AL and DL then let them. We will reinvest and get stronger
  17. The difference is that rickie has 1, maybe 2 years left as a prem quality player. This was the only chance he would ever get to play for his boyhood club and the CL. From saints' point of view, he would have needed replacing in the next year or so anyway. Adam on the other hand has 5-6 years of top quality prem service left to offer. He WILL get options to play in the CL, and will get offers from other attractive clubs. He is also very difficult to replace, and we need big money to compensate for that. I hope the club stand firm, even if it gets to transfer request stage. We owe Adam as much as he owes us. We helped him get to the world cup and become captain of a premier league team FFS.
  18. Hahahaha! If I were a mod, I would make it mandatory for Richmond to have this as his avatar
  19. If ever there were a case to wait until after the world cup to negotiate for a player it's with Adam. If he has a great WC it will add serious value. There's just no reason to sell now
  20. Every now and then I see, in amongst the rampant hysteria, a post on here based on facts, sound logic and reason. Very refreshing, thank you!
  21. This is the confusing part. Why not say, "wait until the world cup is over, we can negotiate then"
  22. This. The Saints job must surely be the most attractive proposition that it's ever been. Let's just hope those in charge are happy to pay top dollar to secure one of the many top managers who would take the job.
  23. Simply awesome!
  24. We had a lot more threads along the same lines after Adkins had been sacked, and that turned out ok. The framework in place at this club is incredible, and with the right appointment will continue to progress forwards
  25. This comment is so spot on, JWP is better than Lallana and Morgan were at 19. He needs to be given time to develop and grow into what is one of the toughest roles on the pitch (as you say). Not every young player is going to be an instant success a la Bale, Shaw... Etc
