The same people moan that we don't make signings, then moan more when we do. Bertrand's a cracking signing, started 19 games for Chelsea in 12/13, played in the Champions football league. Yeah he's not as good as Shaw, but let's see where the 27 mil goes before comparing like with like

I'm starting to wonder whether Cortese, as well as promising CL football, also promised outlandish payrises to go with it. The whingy players complaining about the 'project' not being completed are really on about their bank balances
-
Funny that, didn't Morgan sign a similar contract quite recently? How much do you want to bet that Barkley stays at Everton for the whole of that contract?
-
Close your eyes and imagine Gazza playing in goal again. You'll soon change your stance!
-
Rooney, Lescott, Fellaini, Rodwell... Etc If the right bid comes in from a top European club he will be gone. Can Man City pay Everton what Rodwell is worth under their current FFP restrictions? No. So he stays, and signs big contract. Probably a similar contract to the one lallana signed last year. If Barkley has an awesome season as a first team regular at Everton this year, a bigger club will sign him

Here's one for the cynics. Club deliberately plants news about Jrod and Morgan signing imminently for Spurs. Literally worst case scenario. Then a day later Ralph squashes those rumours. A stupendous bit of PR!!
-
Because those backers would have to be insane, and willing to lose a large chunk of money. Maybe that's why it's taking him so long
-
Ok ok, let's say Katharina HAD allowed Cortese to pay the top players the sort of wages the top clubs are offering, what then? Eventually the money would run out, the club would make unsustainable losses and would eventually end up in administration again. Unless we're saying there's a bottomless pot of money in markus' estate? How many years of losses would Cortese's "dream" have needed
-
That's the only conclusion that makes sense. This number of sales HAS to be intentional. What the intention is? Anyone's guess

So how many of you are really washing your hands of saints?
madruss replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
We once had a team that contained Lloyd James, David Mcgoldrick and Ryan Smith. A long long way to fall yet! Maybe if we get back to those levels I'll think about a saints handwash -
Ha, you're advocating that we should have protested about Poch being appointed!
-
Would be nice to win something this season, I'd take record dollar
-
Why did you not just write WAHHHHHHHHHH and be done with it?
-
Is it possible to make footballers out of £10 notes? Cos if it is.....
-
Player: "dear sfc, I would like to leave" SFC: No problem, how far would you like us to bend over
-
Won the equivalent of the FA Cup though. I reckon we'd all be happy if he managed that here then got sacked
-
Where's that waaahmbulance when you need it?
-
Most sensible theory I've seen. Doesn't make him best person for the job though
-
I agree. In reaction to those accounts there were two opposing schools of thought that any reasonable person could discern. 1) We're in the sh*t and will have to sell all our players 2)The club is run really well, and there's no need to worry. Simply stating that you believe 1 is the case, however cryptically, does not automatically mean you were right. I make it 50:50

I think we need something stronger than nuns!
-
Do you know, a lot of the knee jerk bed wetting does remind me of match threads where we've gone a goal down early on. "FFS, the team's a joke... Etc" only for us to go on and win the match. Let's hope this transfer window proves to be a spectacular come back from 3-0 down to win 4-3
-
Agree with this, the situation could be managed so much better if we signed the new players first. It seems we're almost in a rush to get the outward deals concluded. That's what's ****ing a lot of people off
-
Oh yeah sorry Brendan, did we not mention he's a tad injury prone
-
In this case the captain has led by example. Threatening not to play in order to get a transfer. Kind of sets a precedent. Looking back you can see why the club were so ****ed off with Lallana
-
Principle is the same though. If those 4 players had had their best seasons at once, there may well have been bids for all of them. We've been very unlucky in that a) our top players have had brilliant seasons at the same time b) there are teams with stupid amounts of money who are prepared to pay over the odds for them
