  1. Inciteful commentary from the Saints. "They've had players given yellow cards. Another one and they'll be off!"
  2. Every time we get into goal scoring positions, we get fouled. I reckon the Watford players will carry on doing that given our inept penalty-takers
  3. Even Will Cope predicted where the pen was going to go!
  4. Oh, that's why :smt053
  5. Why doesn't Wotton take the penalties? I thought he had a great record at Plymouth...
  6. I expect it makes for much better reading than his completed / non-completed pass ratio. Trouble is, he's un-droppable for some reason. Jamie White has one bad half and he's dropped in the same game. DMG has 3 or four bad games and he stays in the side. It's this inconsistency that worries me
  7. Saints: Davis, James, Perry, Lancashire, Mills, Cork, Surman, McGoldrick, Lallana, Pekhart, Robertson Subs: Wright-Phillips, White, Paterson, Skacel, Forecast. Radio Hampshire reckons 4-4-2 Davis James Perry Lancashire Mills ----------Cork------------- DMG---------------- Surman ----------Lallana------------ ----Robertson Pekhart------
  8. I think he'll definitely get a run-out. With no Wotton, Spiderman & Gillett, the central midfield picks itself (Surman + Cork) so that leaves the LM spot open for Skacel to play in. Either that or Hatch at RB and James in the middle with Cork
  9. The Doncaster fans are of the opinion that the referee's a ******. I think he's a top bloke, personally!!
  10. It's probably a bit early in the season to be making that sort of prediction. For instance last season at the end of November, the bottom 4 was: Blackpool, QPR, Preston, Norwich At the end of the season the bottom 4 was: Coventry, Leicester, S****horpe, Colchester I.e completely different. This league is ridiculously unpredictable. All it takes is a run of a few good / bad results for the league to change completely. I know the vast majority on here seem to think the season is over already, but the truth is, it's barely begun.
  11. It's an early season relegation six-pointer f'sure. Win, and we're out of the bottom 3 and looking in the right direction again. Lose, and the confidence that this young team so badly needs will dwindle even further. I think we might need a bit of luck for this one. Dodgy ref, goal that didn't cross the line, Donny player sent off in the first 5 minutes...ANYTHING!
  12. Haha. Good post! We are indeed one of the shi*e teams at the moment, and it's a fairly thankless task being a supporter. However football's a mad game, and you never know what the next 10 or so years will bring. For as bad as we feel now, imagine how bad it must've been being a Man.City fan back in 1998, relegated for the second consecutive season. If you'd asked any of their fans where they'd be in 10 years time back then, very few would've had any hope. Who knows, there might be good times around the corner, and there might be even worse times. It's a bit **** at the moment, but surely all hope's not gone yet?
  13. Well quite! You've hit the nail on the head there. There's not so much wrong with the system as long as you have the quality of players to execute it. For example, DMG and BWP are not intelligent / disciplined enough to play on the wing and this cost us dearly on Saturday. I only hope that JP doesn't try them in wide positions again (not that he's got many options at the moment.)
  14. It still took Warnock 7 games to get his first win though, and his first 6 games yielded the same amount of points as JP has in his first 6 games...4
  15. Agreed, there does seem to be a lot of mixed messages coming out about Killer's fitness. Also, they're being very cagey about the severity of Thomas' injury - not to mention complete silence on Skacel who played 90 minutes for the reserves two Mondays ago but hasn't been mentioned since. Perhaps they're scared of depressing the fans even more, given the current league position, and don't want attendances to drop further
  16. I don't know who's been feeding Jan his stats, but they're lying bastards whoever they are... West Brom had 3 points after Three games After 9 games they had 17 points and were 3rd in the table!!! Unless he's talking about a different set of 9 games other than the first 9?? Surely a better team for comparison would've been Palace, who went from 2nd bottom after 16 games (14 points) to the playoffs at the end of the season.
  17. Getting spanked? When has this been happening? I remember it happen 4 or 5 times last season where we got tonked 5-0 with 11 men and were never in the game. This season? No you've lost me there, it just sounds like you're making woeful exaggerations to fit your dislike of the current set-up
  18. It took Warnock 7 games to get his first win as Palace manager with his team of youngsters...should he have been replaced by Billy Davies when Palace were rock bottom in November??
  19. Nice to hear a slightly more positive spin from someone who was there! From all accounts on the radio, Ipswich were all over us second half and we were clinging on for 2-2

    Simon Gillett

Tricky one this. I think the trouble with Gillett is that when he has an off game he is really found wanting and doesn't have the raw, physical attributes to fall back on that, say, a Euell or a Wotton has. On the other hand when he has a really good game, a la Derby or Brum, he is an excellent part of the midfield - full of running, closing down exceptionally well and playing a vital role in some of the fast paced passing moves. I think Wotton and Spiderman should be the partnership for now, allow Gillett a break. Perhaps he'll benefit from fighting for his place again
  21. I just hope he continues to play well for them and they stump up a transfer fee for him. Might be the difference between keeping hold of Llallana or not
  22. Ouch. Another very painful memory! I hope tonight wasn't as bad as that, or we really are in trouble...
  23. And to think, we used to sell out every week when Stuart Gray was in charge...now that was drivel!!
  24. Relatively speaking (i.e compared to the last couple of games) it's not too bad. We're not losing 1-0 and we still have all 11 men!! From the commentary it seems like we need is better contributions from our strikers to convert some decent build-up play. I expect to see Pekhart and/or BWP sooner rather than later
