Tell him to make sure he plays Guly in every game...or else!
-
Nope, league games only. 19 league games and 40 league points. Was I confident he was capable of putting consistent runs together. Yes, because he had done. In fact the only 10 game+ period in which we weren't up to standard was the August/September period. As for this season, so far the 2nd half against Plymouth was not up to standard. Other than that, we've looked an excellent side, and if we'd won 5 or 6-1 against Orient it wouldn't have flattered us. The BR game we played well for a more sustained period and took our chances, and I saw no reason why we wouldn't continue winning if that level of performance carried on
-
hahahahaha! Now that is funny!
-
2.1 points per game since January. Jeez how much more consistent than AP does this new guy need to be?!?
-
Are you sure you weren't thinking of the manager Daniele Arrigoni from Sassuolo Calcio and their striker Antimo Iunco?
-
I think your assessment of the situation is pretty plausible, and wouldn't be surprised if it were quite close to what's actually happened. My biggest worry is that we're seriously narrowing down the prospective manager short-list by sending out a message to the new manager of "You can have the job, but only if you agree to have the team playing a specific way, and only if you sign the players we tell you to sign" IMO I can't see any decent manager agreeing to these sort of demands, and in that respect there's a danger we'll end up with a 'yes man' type of manager.

I've always hated that Skate-biased news show. Our future's fine thanks very much, at least we can still fill our subs bench!!

Sorry but you're talking rubbish, and you're not the only one. There seem to be a lot of people on here today suggesting that we had an inconsistent under-performing team last season and that the only decent thing we did was win the JPT. I've also seen it said that Pardew was given money to spend in January and wasted it, and that his transfers made no difference to the team's results. I'm all for people airing their opinions when they're backed up with facts or evidence, but the only evidence I can see to assess Pardew's performance as crap last season has been 'We didn't get promoted, therefore he's s*it' Here's some actual evidence. After the transfer window shut in January, we played 19 games and amassed 40 points. (2.1 points per game). That's more points than any other team managed in the league during that period! Now's if that's the sign of an inconsistent team with crap substitutions who has to resort to making excuses and is badly managed, then I seriously don't envy the new guy that comes in. Because if performing better than all the other teams in the league over a sustained period isn't enough to keep you in the job, then I don't know what is. (Oh yeah that's right, not only do we need to get results, those results can only be achieved by playing amazing champagne football in a contintental style. Good luck new manager, you're sure as hell going to need it!)

Doesn't mean anything. They closed the book on WGS becoming Leeds manager when he left us back in 2004...never happened and nor was it ever gonna happen. Truth is, no-one has a clue who that bonkers chairman is going to appoint

I wish people would stop using Norwich as an example. They had a novice manager in charge, who'd just been relegated (ok not his fault, but still) and had the team in complete disarray. They got completely thrashed 7-1 at home, they had sunk as low as they possibly could. In our situation, last season our manager had us in title-winning form and (barring the poor start and the -10) we would have gone up. The point is, whereas Norwich could only improve by changing their manager, it's entirely possible that we could get worse by changing ours

Worth noting that it took is until October to get to 4 points, and 12 matches. -

Why bother going to Blackpool? If he's gonna end up playing in the championship next year he might as well do it as part of a winning team! -

Last season we scored 5 at the Memorial, we're clearly playing much worse than we did last season. Pardew OUT -
Love it!! Amazing how a good performance is enhanced by putting away the chances
-
I'm sure they'd much rather have Lambert than this fella!!
-
Yep, I agree. And chances get goals. We are creating chances - really good chances, and we will score goals if we carry on as we are.
-
No it's not. Compare the first 30 minutes of the Huddersfield game (where we won 5-0) to the start of the LO game this year. In my opinion we played a lot better in the LO game and created the better chances, but we didn't score more than 1 and then we conceded. Whereas in the Huddersfield game we did score more than one, and managed not to concede. The resulting confidence that came from a 2 goal cushion meant that the rest of the game was a lot more comfortable, as there was less pressure to force the winning goal. We're not playing worse than last season, we just aren't getting the goals at the crucial times..big difference

Hesitant To Post This, But Me I'm Out Of Patience

I meant it never ever happened at the START of the season, we have always started slowly, but it doesn't mean the rest of the season is defined by that poor start. What happened in game 5 of our best ever premiership. Season? We beat utd 1-0! Patience and perspective. We WILL get promoted -

Have to say, that never ever happened. We always started the season badly. In fact in our best ever Premiership season (finishing 8th), we started the season with 2 points out of the first 4 games. We then went on to get to the FA Cup final as well. An amazing season. What if we'd given up after the first 2 games then? (ie like most people seem to be doing now...whilst completely ignoring the performance of the team) -

Hahaha. Blackpool are higher in the league than Liverpool and Everton...using your logic Blackpool are a better team than Liverpool and Everton....BONKERS!!! -
He was absolutely immense yesterday. A different player than the one who played against Orient
-
No-one will ever EVER be better then 'the torpedo', forget papa...The Argentine speed demon was easily the most talented player we ever let go
-
This. Unless we're playing 4-5-1, in which case he'll be replacing Barnard. I reckon we're just one pacy winger / striker short of a pretty damned awesome squad (and yes I'd be delighted if that winger / striker was Papa!)
-
The best thing about this signing is that he clearly specialises in a position that we've been crying out to fill for a long time. When was the last time we had a genuine attacking central midfielder with an eye for goal and some creativity? Anders Svensson maybe?! (And he was played on the left quite a lot) Guthrie? Either way, looking forward to seeing a different dimension to our play with this sort of player in the team / squad

I think it is you who is misinformed good sir. 19 starts overall, 12 in the league.
