Someone give him £5!! We must see that photo! Nothing in the history of association football has been this imperative!!
-
:lol::lol:
-
Not if they won't let him into the training ground FFS. Cortese OUT
-
I'd say that's as likely as Tommy Forecast being England's No.1 Goalkeeper at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014
-
Quiet, you. I just need someone to write about Bierhoff and I'll have a line in "Saints forum transfer deadline day thread" bingo!
-
Well if Newcastle value Carroll at £30m, we should ask minimum £2m for Puncheon!!
-
And if we can't hold onto him, we'll certainly be able to get more money for him and have time over the summer to reinvest the proceeds wisely. Win-win if you ask me!
-
Is that 'cos of the 'no more than 2 clubs in one season rule?' I thought that only applied to permanent signings? Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to sign N'Guessan as he's already been on loan at S****horpe this season
-
The Puncheon situation could be interesting. Will we accept a cut-price offer to get him out of the club, or let him rot in the reserves (sorry, development squad)? I say let him rot!!!!

Lallana adds something to the side that no other player in our squad can. He plays on the left, but makes lots of clever runs into the middle, creating space and pulling defenders out of position. I would argue that the team creates better quality chances when AL is in the team and on song. The more quality chances a team creates, the more goals the team will score. It's wrong to compare the Oldham chances with the Tranmere chances for example. The chances in the Oldham game were tap-ins from 6 yards and players with clean strikes on goal with lots of space. In the Tranmere games, the chances were tight headers in crowded penalty areas or long range efforts that were never going to trouble the keeper. I wouldn't say Lallana's mere presence in the side improves the performance of others. But surely the space he creates for those other players enables those players to perform better.

He also heaped praise on Connolly, hinting that there was little doubt over whether or not he was the most talented striker at the club, whilst at the same time bemoaning the length of time he spent in the treatment room. In all seriousness though, it's not enough to merely start a transfer deadline day thread. We need someone stationed at key locations to report back when our transfer targets are seen there. Who's going to sit in Costa Coffee at the airport all day? Who's our man at the De Vere? What about the Winchester estate agents? Taxi drivers, relatives of taxi drivers, mates who know someone who works with the relative of one of the players. They'll all play their part, not to mention the true guardians of all saints transfer knowledge....the stewards!!

2 or 3 games could be dismissed as coincidence. Maybe at a stretch 5 or 6, but we've played 10 games without Lallana in the starting line-up. In those games, we've scored 0 and won 0. A lot of that can be put down to the bad form of Lambert and Puncheon, but it's not just a mere coincidence that we create much fewer chances without AL in the team

Tuesday will be an excellent test of this. In the home fixture against Exeter, the score could easily have been 10-0, but they're a notoriously difficult team to beat at their own place. Being able to grind out a result at a place like Exeter is the difference between a league-winning team and a chasing-pack team

Why bother leaving the house? Might get hit by a bus, struck by lightning, eaten by bear. Best stay in. Lock those doors, stay safe, never take risks
-
I just hope he leaves Brighton, it'll significantly weaken them and give us an advantage...unless we lose AOC that is
-
I agree with this. When I look back at the history of the club it's the promotions from the lower leagues that stand out for me. Who can forget the winning goal that secured our promotion in 77? Or was it 78? What about the excellent run of games and form during the season that was key to securing that promotion? Classic. Most people have photos or posters of the '76 team lifting the FA Cup. I don't. Instead I have a giant spreadsheet on my wall containing all the fixtures of our successful promotion campaigns, including points per game, winning sequences and how many times we lost tricky away games on poor quality pitches

I would like to start the bidding with 7 Saint.... RICHMOND...... 2
-
Ignore him, he's not one of us. Arsenal through and through
-
Sorry I thought this was the 'joke' Charlie Austin thread. I'll arrange to have my post moved from this the 'deadly serious' Charlie Austin thread!
-
Yep, Austin wanted Ipswich to send Swindon 2 players of equal talent and ability to Holmes and Connolly or no deal.
-
If you really think we don't need to buy...

The same great prophet who predicted AOC wouldn't be any good this season!! -
Indeed, and let's not forget WGS's long spell as Leeds manager when he left us!
-
Didn't you hear? He's played his last game for saints (the Tranmere and utd games don't count)
-
Apologies, although I think our hilarious japes complimented each other. I'd even go so far as to say the combined japes were greater than the sum of their parts. I can only hope Charlie Austin himself is reading and laughing along
-
It's ok, didn't you read earlier on the thread - Connolly and Holmes are going the other way! We'll save a fortune on medical costs
