  1. According to Steve de Ridder, that's not true. He said that we outplayed Cardiff and lost, but Reading outplayed us and yet we still got a point. It's in the post-Reading match interview on Player.
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15844006.stm Discuss.
  3. Which sounds more interesting to you: Snow White with Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Nathan Lane, Sean Bean, Armie Hammer and lighter and playful with lots of modern jokes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpLVO396eHs Coming out in March (in the USA). Or Snow White with Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, etc. and really really dark and twisted and ... different. Coming out in June (in the USA). I have a gazillion thoughts about these two, but basically it boils down to: I didn't know we needed any Snow White film...but 2? And yet, they both look like they have very interesting elements. I like the darker story better, but the lighter one has a nice cast and Julia Roberts looks from the trailer to be "back," you know? Wow. Just wow for both of these. Discuss.
  4. Let a team pick you, of course! If not ... and you want someone with a similar Saints history ... there are a load of 'em. Browns, Lions, Bills, and Vikings all come to mind in that they haven't won the big trophy yet and have all been around for some time. If you want a team on the south coast, Houston, New Orleans, and maybe Tampa all have that similar geography. If you want a team that peaked in the 70s and early 80s, maybe the Raiders...but I don't think they have much else in common with SFC. If you want a team that looks strong now...as much as it pains me to point this out... but Pittsburgh, New England, Indianapolis, Green Bay, the NY Giants, and (perhaps) San Diego have had some prolonged successful runs over the past 10 years which indicates good owners and management - something many teams envy. Baltimore should be included in there, too. But this is more based on overall wins and losses, not on Super Bowl success. Personally I want more Browns fans, but they are such an inept organization that would feel guilty if you actually listened to me. You have to come to that conclusion on your own. At least they are strongly(!) supported.
  5. I recall explaining to someone our situation last April and how we had to do x and y to get auto promotion. I then also had to say that Huddersfield were behind us, but all they do is win, so we cannot let up on the gas pedal. Good for you guys and I hope you go up as well. You certainly deserved it more than P'boro last year.
  6. I just finished reading Soccernomics by Simon Kuper and Stefan Syzmanski and they actually have a section in there where they research via statistics the best sporting nation in Europe and they came to the same conclusion: Norway. And it was Norway by a landslide. It wasn't about their famous players but more about how EVERYONE in Norway participates in sport. They said that even in the smallest and most remote towns you could easily find an indoor sporting facility and when they tried to figure out how many people actively participate in a sport it was absurdly high compared to the rest of Europe. They stated that they did not look outside of Europe due to lack of data, so the Jamaica finding could be accurate.
  7. It's true - there's always a pain when I think of the Broncos from the late 80s but it was so long ago now that we Browns fans have only minimal disgust with Denver. Obviously I hate Modell, so I can't like Baltimore Ravens at all, but I'll say that Baltimore as a town is pretty cool. My sister lives there now so I visit it on occasion. If it weren't for the stinking Ravens I'd probably like it a lot more!
  8. No, but if he felt that way the right thing to do would be to not say anything at all. So it's nice that he did say something.
  9. I'll come. We haven't met, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. I didn't even know they were showing it until just now. Nice!
  10. Yeah, that's her uncle. Fun, right? And as much as I hate the Steelers (they are supposedly my arch-rival) I have to admit that they are a class organization. Maybe a few of their players are hotheads, but their front office seems to be one of the best in the business. I agree about the Lions. They haven't looked strong in a few weeks now.
  11. This summer we brought in 4 players. The Jack Cork situation was something we knew about or hoped for, but the other three? Danny Fox was heard of, but not suspected as a target. De Ridder and Hooivelt were two players that everyone said "who?" Thus I think we'll be bringing in someone we haven't heard of and don't suspect, which would be fine in my book. If it's a guy from a Swedish side or something then maybe it means we got good value for the signing and thus is great.
  12. This, though, is true. Last week we were saying it was the Ravens, two weeks ago we were probably saying it's the Steelers, and three weeks ago we were probably saying it was the Patriots. This week... I dunno. Maybe the Patriots again? I'm not even sure. Random: I found out recently that my friend is the niece of the General Manager for the Steelers. This amuses me to no end.
  13. The 45-7 thwomping of the Vikings by the Packers last night now has the headlines talking about 16-0 (or 19-0). I'm sad to say this, but this means we're going to have to hear the same story over and over until February, or until they lose. I might be changing my mind about the "hoping they pull it off." I can't stand a story that never dies, so we'll see how long I stay on the bandwagon for this one.
  14. The basic reaction in today's headlines about the Jets-Patriots game last night was that the Patriots are continuing to win like they usually do, except that now no one understands how. Obviously they have Brady, but after that it's a bunch of guys no one has heard of...and the few that you have heard of (Ochocinco, for instance), are barely playing. Fascinating, to say the least.
  15. Sporting is all about "copy what's successful." Currently our plan is successful for where it's at and where it aims to go. Other clubs SHOULD be copying us...until the next club comes up with a different and more successful strategy.
  16. I may or may not look at that at least once a day*. I love that Frazier is on there! *Okay, who am I kidding? I look at it three times a day, minimum.
  17. She's 22 in the clip, but wikipedia has her born in 1983, which means she's 28 next month. Definitely not 3 years ago.
  18. I am starting to see articles discussing the possibility of Green Bay going 16-0. WOW. If it hadn't happened just 4 short seasons ago, I would come on here and argue that no team will ever go 16-0. Now...all I can do is say that I don't think any team will do it again, but what do I know? I hope they do. They seem likable. And we wouldn't have to hear about only the Patriots when discussing that record. And who knows - maybe they could pull off the 19-0 if they do it, which would be fun.
  19. What's really sad is that the Browns are awful awful, and yet there are teams in the NFL that are worse. We've already won 3 games! And could easily win 3 more! Considering how terrible the offense is (mediocre QB, no wide-receivers, and Hillis has turned out to be a cancer) its confusing as to how this is even happening. 6-3. What a game. Hahaha.
  20. As you can see, he is 3rd in the league, which is outstanding. Considering how he has 6 league goals, and 7 league assists, that's pretty all-around important.
  21. Same here. I agree with David.
  22. There's always something slightly weird about watching a game on delay. I don't know why since I know I can easily avoid the score - especially the 3 hour delay - but there's something to knowing that this is happening right now and the urgency that I feel is also being felt on the field. Disappointed the Pompey game is on delay, although I'll certainly say that it's better for viewing purposes. Maybe I can roust up some indifferent friends to support our team with that kind of a timeslot. They certainly wouldn't be coming out for an 8 am game.
  23. There are 6 to 8 Premiership games on TV in the States on a given weekend. There are 1 to 2 Championship games on TV in the States on a given weekend. Maybe it's selfish, but I definitely want SFC to go up for that reason alone...and the other great reasons are just icing on the cake.
  24. This is how I have felt in the past, too. I remember saying to someone once that his first touch seemed magical, but his 3rd or 4th touch looked like one of my mates. Of course, yesterday's goal he set up with Lallana shows otherwise, so that's a relief.
