Some good discussion, this. If we are looking for Prem quality players as we "plan" to be promoted, then we need more at every position. If we are looking to just "hopefully" get promoted, then we don't need players at a number of spots. How the club looks at its future will determine how the club goes about its business during the transfer window. I love Lambert and Lallana, but if we had the chance to get someone better (Carlos Tevez is pretty unhappy these days!) then let's do it. If we want our club to operate successfully in the long term then they need to think of a business model for the long term which often means thinking of this as a business and coldly relating to the individual players. Sell them off if someone rates them more valuable than we do. Buy players that are undervalued elsewhere. That kind of stuff. So with that in mind, I think we are set with our midfield except on the right (I think SDR was supposed to be the guy, but clearly Adkins doesn't trust him), and the Fox/Harding combo for left back should serve us well into the long-term future. Otherwise, as long as the club has a clear plan in the backroom then anyone should be fair game.

With all the talk of what we need to bring in during the transfer window, it sounds to me like we need a whole new team. So I ask you lot, in a bit of fun and new way to think about our 1st Place team.... which positions do we NOT need to bring in players for? I think we're good at left back. I think we're good at center-mid. It sounds like we could use more at every other position, though, right? Either as a starter or as depth? Discuss.

teamsaint - this is one of the best posts I've read on here in a while. I love it. Thanks for the research mate - you're aces.

Yeah, I signed up to foxsoccer.tv for a month and watched the game too. I was pleased enough with the quality of the steam. I borrowed a laptop from someone, hooked it up to my wireless internet, and then hooked that into my TV. It worked and I was happy to see the game. $10 is cheaper than going to the bar and getting two drinks so in the end it was a great deal overall. The stream buffered a few times and the resolution dropped occasionally (one of the times was on Lambert's goal, of course) but considering my other options it was definitely a pleasing result overall. I also tried streaming the radio feed from Saints Player while muting the Fox audio, but the radio feed was a solid 20 seconds ahead of the video so I couldn't handle that. Too bad because that would have been a lot of fun. -
Where do you guys see that there's a free trial? When I go to the foxsoccer.tv site, it says there's a trial for $10, but that's the only one that I see. When did $10 become free?

Sadly, I still live in the desktop age (the darn thing won't die, and therefore I can't justify a new one...yet) and I don't think I can move my whole computer due to wiring issues. Absurd, I know.

Yeah, I'm going to try the foxsoccer.tv route. Anyone know if I can get that to stream onto my PS3, so I can watch the game on my TV? I'm about to research that now, so I'll probably have figured it out by the time you read this.

A) Deano - I thought you said you were going to be in England until April? Are you back? B) Webster Hall?!!? Wow. I didn't know this until just now - thanks for the heads up. I've got sister/bro-in-law in town, so I'm trying to figure out how to watch this. I can watch it at my place at 11, but would rather see it live, ya know? So while I do not like drinking at 8 am all that much, I am pretty sure that if Nevada Smiths / Webster Hall doesn't have the 24 hour liquor license then they can't serve beer until noon on a Sunday. If they can't serve, then that makes the decision for us and we'll just watch it at my place at 11. I also don't think they want to get up at 7 am to get there on time. Thanks for the offer, tho. Normally I'd say yes, but I have to pass in this instance.

Does anyone know if Nevada Smiths will serve beer on a Sunday morning? A lot of places in NYC aren't allowed to do so until Noon - anyone been there and experienced either a positive or negative in this regard?

The rise of Tim Tebow and Denver's defense is one of the great stories of the year. I hated him when he was at Florida but now that he's in the NFL I don't really care, so I'm casually impressed. I hope they make the playoffs but then lose big. Or just play a team before then who can actually score so that Tebow's usual 14 points isn't enough for them to win.

The fact that there are so many differences of opinion is telling that we don't have a singular star on our team, which is great news. I love how strong our whole team is and that is the main reason we are top.

Yeah, he said a while ago on twitter he really likes the chant but he doesn't want it to be every time he touches the ball. Chaplow replied "which is hardly ever!"

The BBC preview was suggesting Barnard might start. It didn't suggest who would be on the bench, but I suspect it's one of: Lambert on the bench due to a knock or needing a rest or Guly moves into Chaplow's spot, and Barnard moves up front or Guly on the bench with a rest Of course, the BBC was just saying Barnard "could" start.

These sound feasible, but Jordan Sibley says on twitter: "For those asking, Jos' transfer done outside the window as he was brought in on an international loan, ie. we already hold his registration"

AOC gets a shoutout in this random sports ranking that I stumbled upon today. http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/10941/rankonia-the-triangle-power-rankings-5 No mention of Southampton, of course, but that's not the point. I'd like to think our coaches taught him those moves.

Living Stateside, I'm quite pleased with my purchase.

This! I'm a bit stressed with the flow of the game over the past 5 minutes or so.

It's been 60 years since Hull won at Southampton. Amazing. Let's keep it that way.

Wow, the middle of nowhere. No wonder you need those tissues - there's not much else to do. Hah. j/k. One day I hope to hear the story on how you got there. In the meantime... COYR. Barnyard and de Ridder to get our next two. You heard it here first.

Fantastic - I'm from a suburb of Cleveland. Where are you, if you don't mind my asking? Let's go Saints - I want a 3rd. And let's go 'Boro. I want at least 1 from them tonight.

One is slated for a March release, which means that their studio doesn't think much of it and therefore are hoping it will be better than the rest of the crap that comes out around then. The other is an early June release, which the studio clearly thinks will be a big summer movie. Obviously someone has more confidence.

If you trust Football Manager's accuracy... in my FM2010 game (I'm a few years behind, I know) when Bale got sold we received 10%.
