It would be nice to keep some of the younger players but with a 5 year plan for return to the PL not many of the current squad will be around at the end anyway - some people you get 2-3 years at their peak and then they either need a change or their form falls away. It will be interesting to see who become the new heroes if we survive the next few days.

Surely there is no lack of clarity - we are -10 points or we don't play
-
I can't really see much sense in Matt having total charge of football matters, only a bit of romance and nostalgia associated with him as a player, but not enough demonstrable acumen to carry forward the lead role. I would rather have, for example, Mark Hughes, who I detested as a player and for his attitude to MLT when he was with us.

Dowie fits most of the requirements, was doing well at Palace before his relationship with Jordan deteriorated, good battler, lilkely to produce a fit team with limited resources
-
I would immediately suspect anyone coming in as the fan's choice as showing the new management team has no confidence
-
He was on Radio 5 Sunday talking about a return to manage in the Premiership, even if via a Championship side or a League 1 side - so he must be keeping his options open

Our gates will surely be lower for league 1 football, and just continue the general drift away into other cheaper activites, unless performances become far more exciting

How many players do we need t mount a promotion push?

Should be possible to pick up some cheap/free players suited to league 1 - they'll get discarded as soon as we get back to the Prem -
Looks like a set of sensible, economical fixtures - not too tough, no great travel costs. We are a div 1 club - just got to become the best one!
-
Yes they can - it's their league, their rules and cross them if you dare! Even though we are in admin, they are perfectly entitled to intercept transfer payments to pay other debts to league clubs
-
Totally agree. We need a much better pricing policy to fill the stadium. Poor quality football last year, so I can only imagine it will be even worse this year as we drop closer to amateur standards.

The radio station was always a preposterous idea, was never going to make any money. Let's just concentrate on the football and not waste money on any more egotistical side shows.

Perry and Clive on Nes at ten talking about...

Sadly, if you have been away for some time and come back, the deterioration is more noticeable. The impact of West Quay on Above Bar looks a planning disaster. If it gets any worse we'll be fighting our way through tumbleweeds to get to SMS. At least the stadium looks like being saved. They'll just have to start working on the rest of the city as part of the 'new dawn'. -
Then, if we fail to get a CVA in place, we get another -15
-
A slight positive - S****horpe finished 20 points behind Leicester, so we could give the others a 25 point start and still threaten, if we can get all the rest of it together!
-
14m up front, 2 or 3 signings to pay for and no ROI for 5 years ... is this a good deal?
-
No ladies team, no reserves, no academy - if we survive we have to be a proper div 1 outfit, no room for luxuries - no hot water in the showers!
-
I think the Football League has already called our flimsy bluff on administration, hence the reluctance of anyone to commit funds to save us
-
Thanks for all the hard work on the league, actually seemed to work pretty well
-
We punched above our weight, particularly 78-85, but we have never been a big club and never will be, just like we've never had a massive fanbase. Stadium, statues.. we are not in the top 10, maybe not the top 20
-
because we are a washed up flea pit club, but the Sun is still shining
-
Hard though it would be for him to take, going down to Div 1 is not the career choice to make! We need the money, he needs to be in or around the top flight. Reading would be a good choice for many reasons as covered above. Then he'll be in the same boat as Dexter and the rest, villified by saints forums, lauded by the new ones.
-
He's still scored more than anyone apart from McGoldrick - if we survive, we are going to need some more goals to stop the drop to Div 2

Bet in the end it's no-one
