  1. Just before the first lock down, we travelled down for the Saints-Newc match we lost 0-1, with Djenpo being sent off. We had the BEST weekend down in Southampton (cheers Hobbit, Rockstone and Firehouse, great pubs!) and despite the loss, we felt positive. Now, we're over the moon. The Koeman years were great but this feels like something really special. Ralph is the right manager for a club like us. I hope he stays for many years because the fit is perfect and credit to the leadership for recognising this and sticking with him. Plus, whilst some people may have thought getting Theo back served no purpose, in actuality what it did was brought some emotion and feeling to a club who wanted to welcome him back, and he's a great footballer for a TEAM like us. There is room for sentiment in Football. It truly is a great feeling to be a Saints fan tonight. I only started supporting as a glory hunter in the 83/84 season. 😁
  2. Bluegh and feeling sick, apologies folks.
  3. Woy: Stick it to Wilfred, he'll do the rest! We've never heard of that sort of tactic before.
  4. HOW ARE CRYSTAL PALACE DOING SO SHITTIN WELL WITH WOY! Shirley it is not THAT simple? I Love Saints but it is the same every new season. The last time I remember a good start to the season was under WGS, as we won a game.
  5. Same here, love this blog!
  6. So proud of this club! So proud to support the Saints. The best club in the world. They make me happy and I feel they are a true community club, which makes me even prouder. Long live King Ralph!
  7. Jordy Clasie against West Brom in 2017. Scored a cracking winner, best game for Saints? Re-watching the highlights and it looks like Forster had a stunning game as well.
  8. Thought today was one the the best team performances I've seen for a long while. So good, even Sharpie got involved to assist us. Great away day and really thought we looked a cut above for the majority of the game. Felt like we controlled the game very well. Even when they 'scored' I wasn't worried...maybe that was the beer! Feel like we're onto something with this Hassenhutl fella. :-)
  9. Disagree about Vesti completely. Thought he played well and was directing a lot of our play. Won a lot of headers and made some decent clearances. Great team performance. Boufal and Djenepo were excellent.
  10. Yes, I'm in Sheffield a few times a year for a few of the Hard Rock Hell weekends at the O2. Great selection of pubs and we always have an ace time. Was there a couple of weekends ago and visited our favourite haunts. Even got to Noodle Doodle for a lovely Malaysian lunch as well. Bonus! Shout out to The Dove and Rainbow that has managed to survive a threatened closure recently due to public pressure. Shame it's too far away from the ground to make it on Saturday otherwise I'd be popping in to support.
  11. Last time we went to the Devonshire Cat (2018) is was less of a pub and more 'dine in' only really. Still a decent enough beer list but no where near as good as previous years. For me it's going to be The Sheffield Tap or The Rutland Arms.
  12. Which pub? I'm attending the match on my own from Nottingham and would be good to meet up with a few Saints fans before the game!
  13. Apologies folks, posted the link while at work and didn't have much time. Indeed it is the bloke in the Saints shirt behind the ball catcher. Our US invasion has finally begun!
  14. Apologies for posting this here, didn't want to start a new thread on something so trivial. Someone just pointed me to this video on the BBC Sport website for a link to Saints: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/baseball/49084826

  16. And don't forgot the underhand way in which Liverpool conducted the VVD transfer dealings by meeting with the player first and getting caught but not receiving any punishment for breaking the rules. If they had approached the club first and gone through the right channels, it wouldn't rankle quite as much but it is the cheating way they conduct themselves without any reproach that sticks it to the smaller clubs. And as for The Gurning One, the best thing we can do is beat them tomorrow night and f*ck up their season! The perfect way to get revenge.
  17. Agree with Saintwbu's post completely. A good summary. Can see why the goal was chalked off by VAR but felt it was harsh. I was a supporter of VAR before hand, especially with the shocking decisions we've had against us in recent years, but this was my first match where I've attended where VAR is used and I felt it sucked the life out of the game. Really not being implemented very well at all. Anyway, thought we played pretty well, especially the second half. Leicester posed us barely any threat and when we did get turned, we had good coverage from our defense. Vesti in particular looked strong and commanding. Most players had decent games actually, some missed passes and shocking shots, but overall thought we deserved the win. Finally, thought the referee was abysmal. Every time one of our players went for the ball, the Leicester player would throw himself to the ground and get a free kick. It was really embarrassing to be honest and is slowly chipping away at my love of football. Still, a decent night in Leicester, which included a full 3 course curry for £15.90 for the both of us at Nawaaz on London Road, highly recommended for the 12th January when we are next back there. Won't be £15 a ticket for that one, I'm sure.
  18. Is Charlie Austin related to Danny Dyer?
  19. Sh*tarse boring game. We looked well off the pace and didn't cause Derby any issues at all. Not going to take too much out of the result but did notice a few things. Why do we take so long with our throw ins? No pace or urgency at all and lets the opposition get into position as Betrand or Stephens amble over to take a throw in, where we usually lose the ball. The same with goal kicks, we ended up making a right hash of them as we tried to retain possession. We really need to step up in the next matches to be ready for the new season, we looked well off the pace.
  20. Shall be at the match seeing as it is just down the road. Really looking forward to it.
  21. Nope, still no pride or link to the English diving team. Displaying all that is wrong with Football in this country on the world stage. Have been looking forward to Derby v Saints so much more than any England match. I've realised that I'm not really a Football fan but just a Saints fan.
  22. Welcome to Saints Jannik. Glad Pierre convinced you to come. Looking forward to seeing you play next week when we trounce the Sheep Sh4ggers. Is it just me or does anyone else feel that something special is on the cards for the up coming season? I'm getting the urge to consult the odds with Mr Winstone currently!
  23. Apologies if this has alreadybeen posted, couldn't see it anywhere. http://www.nairaland.com/4561437/hilarious-letter-wife-sent-husband Was funny, but got funnier and relevant towards the end.
  24. Go on then, I'm in! (Saints Forever)
  25. Stern John - 19 goals that season! What we'd give for someone like that now. 2 excellent finishes. Good trip down memory lane that - cheers.
