How on earth is Cortesse acting professionally? We get no information from him or the club, no reasons given for decisions made, just bog standard template statements released on the club's own website! I keep reading this pro Cortesse cr4p "hope people don't upset him as he might walk out and leave us in the sh1t" how exactly would we be in the poo? If he were to walk we'd be sold, we wouldn't suddenly get all the debt back, we'd be a debt free business showing a healthy operating turnover, and besides Cortesse is just an employee of the Mali Group so if walks he walks the Mali Group would simply appoint a new ceo!
-
Timing allows no time what so ever, I thought the window closed tomorrow? I think it's a shocking decision, if Cortesse was only prepared to give him 3 games he should of just bit the bullet and sacked him last May. Sure there would of been a lot of unhappy fans (me included) but if it'd been explained properly that Alan was not the man for the new owners, that they wanted to act now to enable the new man time to build his team, to mould his players and to install his own tactics and style of playing, most would have accepted it!

so their no looking for a manager with Premiership experience or a manger with a good pedigree in the cups, guess Man Utd fans should brace themselves for the worst!

Hesitant To Post This, But Me I'm Out Of Patience
St. Jason replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
I can't wait to see who Cortesse thinks is better than Pardew because for me Pardew was doing a great job. Sure there were games when I was screaming at him to make a change, it p1ssed me of when he constantly took Barnard of, but that's not just Pardew that's managers in general, they all make strange choices and changes. A win rate of 53% a trophy and 4 points out of 9 so far this season is going well, imo. I cant get where Cortesse is coming from, why now? Why not back in May? Sure I'd of been p1ssed then, but I'd of accepted it. I'd of understood where Cortesse was coming from, get a new man in now, give him the summer to build his own team, get his own men in and stamp his style of play on the team, but to sack him now, 1 day before the window shut's is madness, but then I'm getting used to Cortesse's strange decisions! no payment plan no renewal notices no photo's car park charges ticket taxes sacking Pardew! -
oh my god, fans fault again, didn't take long for it all to be our fault again! It was Glen's fault for walking out on us then? It wasn't Lowe's fault for appointing then sacking Sturrock, or for appointing Wigley, Gray, Redknapp, Wotte, Portvliet? It wasn't Lowe's fault for dismissing Pearson no, it's all the fans fault, the very people who actually stick with the club through thick and thin, buying tickets regardless of leagues, performances or managers. How dare anyone questions Hoddle's re-appointment, how dare anyone question Cortesse's running of the club after all he "saved our club" no, quite right it's all our fault!!

Thought he was a winger??

I can't remember people slating Adam??? As for Punch and as a full paying customer and a 'so called fan' I think he is poor, he was poor for the last 8 or so games last year and he is poor again this year. I'm not one for signalling out players with boo's and taunts but, as Pardew says 'if your good enough your old enough; so if your not good enough then...............

You say you have knowledge in this area but seem to miss the point. If I were (which I was) thinking of advertising at St. Mary's this season I would now be asking for a significant rebate as my product would now be viewed by a much smaller audience. I realise not every hoarding is pictured but if I were to pay the larger amount for pitch facing hoarding I'd stand a chance of seeing my company in the paper!!!

Your quite right, “To put it in gentleman's terms, if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, you've done what you set out to do. We didn't look our best today but we've pulled. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks they're not. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best looking lady we ended up taking home but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let's have coffee.” Ian Holloway quote I'm sure this would lift Tevez!!

So you don't read the Sun or the Echo for anything Saints?? So you rely totally on the Saints own website, your a dream customer for SFC, corn fed what they want you to know!
-
Most of our songs would be amazing if sung slowly but they all ways get highjacked by the younger fans and end up sounding like a race to the end!! Note, for me its Glory, Glory!!!

Your right he didn't think twice when going to Everton but you could see the love he still had for us when he scored against us, no celebration more a sense of guilt! All I would say is when he left for Everton he was 26, and with all due respect to Saints he was stepping up a level by joining them. Now is a different story in terms of stage of career, age, ambition, location etc, I agree, if Rangers are offering a 3 year contract on £25k per week it's a better deal for everyone, us included as I wouldn't want 1 player upsetting everyone else! Bottom line is, we are still short of quality and unfortunately it's not going to be filled by Beatt's, so, who??
-
I agree, I can see NC's thinking about selling our own pic's at a premium but, and it's a huge BUT I think he's forgot we are in League 1, I'm pretty sure the nation can live without little old South Coast Club! As for shirt sponsorship, that got me thinking, I wonder how much of the "give the shirt to the fans" gesture with no sponsor is about giving it to the fans or part of the image rights as any shirt sponsor would be demanding his money back now as there is no viewing clients? One more point, I don't know but does the Premier League own the rights to all their teams? Would Saints have to allow The Sun etc to use their own photographers at Premier League games? If so why waste time now as ultimately that is where we want to be so all this feuding is pointless!
-
Turkish why do you have to mock other people, fellow Saints fans? The opening thread was about who'd we like to sign, it didn't say "please make sure any player mentioned is not being chased by any other team" Beattie is 32, his wife comes from Southampton, he loves the area, city and club, why is it such a wrench from reality to think we'd have a chance of signing him? Yes of course Rangers is a bigger club than us, and for him to choose us over them would of taken a massive effort from everyone at the club, but imo a possibility! I've never said we could sign any player we want, I've never said any top striker would drop 2 leagues to play for us. I did say a 32 year old player in the twilight of his career may consider us! Did Conelly not drop down from Sunderland to this crappy un-attractive club??
-
Sorry mate but I'm with the Sun on this one. I don't buy the sun, I'm a Star man, but I do read the Sun and can't see where NC is coming from. People on here are saying "why should get our pics for free?" but don't forget Saints (if the Sun prints a pic) and the shirt sponsor is getting free advertising with a potential viewing client base of 3m! I personally think it's a good deal for both club and paper. Also I don't like the thought of the club selecting pro club pics only, if Pardew ****s Peter Ried on the touch line I want to see it, I don't like this kind of censorship! PS. I am 100% behind Saints and will eternally grateful for Leibherr investing in our club but that doesn't mean I have to blindly follow and agree with every decision NC makes!
-
All about your level of ambition I suppose mate isn't, play in a competition where you have a 50% chance of winning, not really sport is it, like shout ducks with a machine gun!
-
I agree Dell Days, I said they have massive following and I know Glasgow is a massive 2 team city, but on a purely football basis they are nothing. They are and probably never will be Champions League contenders, they will never be signing Drogba, Ronaldo etc, massive clubs with massive following but pretty small on the footy map!
-
Massive football clubs, are they really Dell Days?? Yes they have massive following and the Derbies make Saints v Pompey look like friendlies but as FOOTBALL CLUBS are they massive? Can you see them competing in the Champions League, I dont mean playing actually competing? Can you see them competing in the transfer market with even Championship sides?? The league is so poor they play each other 4 times??? Yes us signing Beattie was a massive ask, but was/is it really that hard to see? Maybe it is, I don't know, maybe my expectations have been lifted but I do see us as an exciting prospect for players coming to the end of thier Premiership careers!
-
We are just going round and round in circles here I think probably best just to agree to disagree dont you before in degenerates into name calling and other personal insults! Just to round up - 1. of course I wouldn't be happy if a player signed then p1ssed of after 1 game but the point being made was would a current premier league player drop 2 divisions so, yes 2. No I don't think players sign overnight but I also know it usually doesn't take 4 months. 3. No I don't think there is a queue of Premiership players waiting to join us, but I do believe we are an attractive, ambitious up and coming club that can compete in the transfer front. 4. seeing as Beattie is the first signing Rangers have made in 2 years knowing they were interested and actually signing are completely different. As I say, lets agree to disagree!
-
My point with Sol is simply he did sign for a lower league club, what happens after that is irrelevant as he did sign (note I hate Sol, he is the sort of mercenary footballer I hate) Yes, everything you say about Rangers is true, my initial point was why not Beattie? Yes when go up against a club like Rangers you'r going to struggle to compete but that's not to say that if we'd gone for him back in June when Rangers where still unable to sign players we could of pulled of a major coup!!
-
What happened with Sol and Nott's County has no relevance to this conversation, the point is he SIGNED for County!!! If Beattie signed for us he'd have the chance of winning at least 2 trophies, a championship and promotion all in 1 season! As for the Champions League,,,,,,,, do they even qualify by winning the SPL any more, do they not have to go through the qualifying rounds because the SPL is so weak now?? SPL, because that is dropping down at least 1 division, PL, that's a bit more difficult to argue against. I suppose it comes down to what they are offering, if they are offering a cameo role, warm the bench for league games with the chance of 10 mins here and there and play most Carling cup games against playing for a Championship winning team, a team returning to Wembley with massive ambition of rejoining the Premier League then I believe it starts to become a harder decision for James to make. Add family ties and location to it then yes, call me mad but I feel there is an argument FOR Saints!!
-
Yea quite right, next thing people will start linking Sol Campbell with Nott's................................oh **** yea! Bellamy, of course not, not a chance, even if we were Championship but Beattie, why not? Obviously i don't mean as back up for Lambert, more a partnership with the added bonus that if 1 was injured you'd still have a big man coupled with Connelly! You are right Blackburn is his home town club but this is where his wife comes from, a footballers wife's life is a lonely one and many players move clubs so they can either be A. Close to the family and training ground or B. The wife is close to her family and friends! Personally I think any player that signs for either Celtic or Rangers are showing their intent on retirement and would say it's probably harder to win the JPT with Saints than the SPL with Rangers!

I feel for anyone that has loved and lost, I lost my Dad last year and it's a totally devastating experience, which I'm still struggling to come to terms with BUT I'm not a hypocrite. I wish Mr. Cortesse well but I still question his complete lack of communication skills with the us fans. Not a single explanation for the removal of the payment plan, no notification to existing season ticket holders about pricing or renewals. He's totally alienated our club from the local and national press to the extent where we are now referred to as "South Coast Team"! I've heard and read people saying "fook the echo, fook The Sun" but it's a very dangerous game to play, even more so with the tragic death of Marcus. Yes, this year we don't need any sponsorship because of Markus's money but what about next year? Who's to say the trust that Markus set up to fund Saints will not need sponsorship? Be honest, A shirt sponsor is normally a National company, which national company would pay for that privileged without national coverage?? Read the papers tomorrow and note the pictures, the pictures are all of players and the common denominator is that the pictures are mostly full frontal, showing the Sponsor!! So yes, massive sympathy to Mr. Cortesse for the loss of his friend and I wish you all the best and hope you surround yourself with as much family and friend you need to help soath the pain, but there are lessons to be learnt! God bless Leibherr family and friends!
-
Oh pooooooo! That's the end of that dream then, he would of been a great signing though, all in my opinion, obviously!! I'm lost now then, for me it'd need to be a high profile striker, with pedigree, I'm all for up and coming players like Oxslade etc but I'd just love a signing that excites!!!
-
I've been saying for months I'd love to see Beattie back here, how realistic that is I don't know but, he looks like he's heading for Rangers so he's obviously given up on England FC and is happy playing Championship football! Could he be talked into playing for an ambitious club looking for promotion and a return to the premiership, a city where his wife and her family come from, a club he regularly turns out for charity games, come on NC what a signing and boost to the club that would be???
