As already stated, does poor old Jan not deserve a few words??
-
How was Jan cheaper, WOTTE WAS STILL EMPLOYED BY THE CLUB!!!!!!
-
Of course it includes the fa cup and the stadium, unfortunately that is the highlight of his 12 years. The fa cup was the highlight of 25 years of watching Saints, I had tears in my eyes as the camera zoomed in to the team coach. I was in the prince of Wales pub (i think) in Cardiff before the game, couldn't believe we, Saints, Southampton Football Club were at the final. He never built on that though did he, that was the time to build, to move on, to push on. As for the stadium, I love it, but is it not the stadium debt that is putting us on the verge of admin!
-
Because there was only 3 people there, Wotte, Mike & Gorre, simple really! South Today, The Echo and Meridian all reported that niether chairman atended!
-
South today, meridian and the all thought it was all a pretty big deal. Even if your right and its just a reshuffle surely Jans resignation warranted a few words from one of our chairmen during the press conference, all the other 11 managers departures have been accompanied with a press conference! Note. i am anti-Lowe, 100% but this is not bashing Lowe, but have you ever seen a press conference with out a club official, anywhere??
-
I wouldn't of thought so would you mate, Rupert knows best mate, you know that!
-
If it was just a re-shuffle why the press conference?? It's because Jan quit (if you believe that) Wotte was appointed head coach, Mike Svvenson (sp?) was appointed first team coach which all warranted a press conference yet not one club official could be arsed to attend!!!!!
-
Don't see your argument here mate. The problem people have is Lowe putting his ore in the football side of things, what people are saying is as the CeO, and having just appointed a new manager, with the transfer window only open for a month, that now may not be the right time for a holiday!!!! Note, how ridiculous did that press conference look with no chairman, spokesman, club official on the top table!
-
Don't want to get into an argument about word meanings, but a sacrifical anode is indeed put there to fail because it is protecting a more important metal, product, person! Glad your confused by the set aswel, thought it was just me that was confused!
-
The thread was opened questioning why Jan was appointed ahead of Wotte, when Lowe had publicly said he wanted him to take over 3 years ago! Doesn't make any sense, not to me anyway. Also what does that do to a manager, knowing that the bloke who's sat next to your boss every game was wanted for your job?
-
I'm not saying he was put there to protect, I'm just questioning if he was set up to fail?? Answer the point Scudamore, does it make sense to you? Why appoint Jan when Lowe'd been after Wotte for 3 years? Interested in your views!
-
Exactly, if he was going to "resign" because of the crowd's reaction he'd of done it at the meeting with Lowe & Co on Tuesday. There's no way (imo) he'd come out in the press, the OS etc stating how he was "up for the fight" only to quit 3-4 days later!
-
Thats my exact point mate, don't get it!
-
Things just don't add up, does anyone else smell a rat? I just don't get it, Lowe and Wotte have very publicly stated that "he almost took the job before Burley" so why wasn't he offered it this season? Why was an unknown, un-experienced manager in Jan appointed as first team coach with Wotte managing the reserves? Jan had never managed a club the size of Saints, where as Wotte's got plenty of experience, why and how could he be under jan? I realise the thread is going to labeled as "conspiracy theories" but does anyone else think Jan was set up for a fall from the start, Wotte can't fail now can he. If he succeeds (i hope he does) he's a hero, if he fails it's Lowe & Jans fault. Jan has done all the dirty work, Wotte just cruises in and starts a fresh. I see his first statement says he's going to looking for experienced players now, not other academy players, I thought the club were starting "a fresh new era, we're youth will promoted in a seamless transition from academy to first team". It'll be very interesting to see if Wotte plays 4-4-2 after months of being told "our boyz can only play one way". Nothing adds up, not to me anyway!
-
I understand that, I wasn't saying Burley was good, I was merely saying i was amazed to see him in second spot for win ratio!
-
I think a good, positive atmosphere is to everyones advantage. Note, can't remember being 1-0 up :-)
-
Guess what Nick, we're in agreement, i know, radical isn't it!!
-
The fans have been behind the team for 14 out of 14 home games with only 1 win. Doncaster was a turning point for a lot of fans, but still no slating of the players, funny really, we actually scored in the second half when it was all kicking of! Stop blaming the fans (not you in particular) us fans have been there for ever, players, managers, coaches, chairmen come and ago, the only constant thing is the fans!! One more quick point, sold out St. Mary's evry game in the prem yet we still went down, I know someone has to go down, just making a point about your "We should always support the team, then we'll see the best possible results from the manager/board etc"
-
interesting point, i agree with you, i felt Burley was poor, tactical inept, yet in the Echo he was second to Hoddle in the win ratio!!! like i say, interesting!
-
So you put a "laughing emotion" on, so what! Yes it has hit a nerve because some of the pro-Lowe's have used that as a branch to beat us with before, they have no other argument to support Lowe so try to undermine our argument by saying "it's all in a name", it ain't, its his chairmanship!
-
How ignorant, is that your only argument for retaining the services of Mr. Lowe?? For me, and i'm not alone, it has nothing to do with his name, he could be called Matt Le Tissier for all I care, if he ran the club the same as he has and is I'd still want rid! How ignorant and arrogant to insinuate that its his name that people dislike, a bit like the great man himself!
-
Is the timing bad or not? Not anti-pro Lowe, don't even mention his name, the timing is bad, the transfer window is open, a new manager has just taken over, we are on the brink of relegation/admin, wither it be Lowe, Wilde, Crouch, the timing is poor, very poor!
-
Not arguing with you, your post makes sense, it'll never happen and i'll never get behind Lowe, but your post is a good valid post. My only question is, what exactly did Crouch do wrong? I'm not saying he is the answer or "the knoght in shinning armour" i'm just interested in knowing what he's done wrong!
-
Did your boss sack your manager and appoint a new one 2 days before he went away? Is your boss fighting administration, is your company on the brink of collapse? Is your company's trading window only open for january?? Come on mate, timing's poor!!
-
Your right the secretaries can choose their own holidays but the headmaster don't!! As already said, no one is doubting his right to take a break, its just his timing. My holiday is booked for July, I never go away during the season!
