Proper cup tie. Who wanted it more? SAINTS :-))))

I suppose I ought to see the funny side. But I can't, so I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Chambers does well: what a find by Arsene Wenger Chambers makes a mistake: he came from Southampton. Bloody media.

I guess we can expect an announcement around 10pm then?

Katarina Doesn't Want To Invest Anymore In The Club - Krueger
FarehamRed replied to Pastor Patrón's topic in The Saints
Sorry to quote selectively, but in reality....the Sky generation is the one that is pumping so much money through clubs into player's pockets. I'm not sure that clubs in general really benefit form all this cash; players do f'sure. All that happens is that the numbers are bigger. -
WSC Article 'Southampton's player sales vindicate academy trust '
FarehamRed replied to UpweySaint's topic in The Saints
Unfortunately, for me at least, making a profit isn't the point. The point is to win games of football, and the FFP rules will inpact our ability to do that. -
Difficult concept for a footballer...but he signed the contract, so he should be prepared to honor it. Simples.

Sorry, but it had to be done ;-)

Morgan and Jay to Follow According to Simon Peach
FarehamRed replied to brett24's topic in The Saints
I do think that if a player wants to leave, we're better off without them. But there's no doubt the club are either encouraging them to go, or at the very least doing a hopeless job of persuading them at stay. Either way, it simply does not tally with the public statements Les Reed has made. I'm a glass half full-type, but this wholesale clearing of the decks is an enormous risk. I know this would never happen due to vested interests, but also think the Premier League needs to take a look at what is going on; we know the top 5 or 6 clubs rarely change, but it now seems more obvious than ever that there's some sort of cartel operating to destroy any club that even threatens to break into their "territory". That can't be good for the "competition", and the PL risks alienating every fan of any club outside the top 5 or 6 as they are the only ones the league seems to care about. (The sooner they bugger off the a proper European League the better as far as I'm concerned.) -
Are Tadic and Pelle upgrades on Lallana and Lambert?
FarehamRed replied to simo's topic in The Saints
Upgrades? Potentially.... -
Straight swap: Lovren for Vlaar. I'd be happy with that.
-
I wonder: Tadic = Serb Lovren = Croat. May not get on too well. Also, has Dejan actually put in a transfer request, or is he still hoping for those loyalty payments :-)

Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
FarehamRed replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So he paid for a full page ad which consisted of... A picture of himself Some words about himself. What an ego trip. -

Be interesting to see how he tried to spin that, following his comments on the Liverpool website. Difficult to tally that with "I was dreaming of Liverpool while kissing your badge." I suspect this advert is very poorly judged. -

Best one yet! -
Thank goodness, I thought I was going bonkers. I thought a lot of our football last season was dull. Lots of possession, but rarely an end product. Very few games (at home at least) to really get the pulse racing. Personally, I'm looking forward to a much more interesting season next year.

Appalling show of commitment from our players
FarehamRed replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Well said! I think there's just been too much smoke for there not to be a fire. Players want it both ways: play rubbish, and the club has to honour their contract; play well, and the contract is (apparently) meaningless. -
Looking at it objectively, I'd rather have a £20m center forward and a £10m full-back than a £30m full-back. (Not that I want Shaw to go, but you get my point).

I wonder.... If a new manager came in, didn't fancy SRL and sold him, new managers would be instantly unpopular. By selling before the new manager arrives, have the board spared the new man from having to make an unpopular decision?
