  1. yep - that will be fine with a 64bit OS on it. You can install the 64 bit version from scratch. Just back all your files up from the XP install and to a clean install of 8
  2. depends if the computer has a processor that supports 64bit. 32Bit windows should show around 3.3GB of memory - this is the maximum it can address. What make/model PC do you have?
  3. Bought the Mrs a refurb Sony Xperia P - £129 from O2 instead of retail £240. No issues with it apart from it not coming in an original box, and no instructions.
  4. N7 is the best choice if you are looking for a 7" tablet
  5. Agree on most points. I won't really use the metro interface - just the old fashioned desktop mode. Biggest issue for me is not having a start button, although there are 3rd party add ons to re-create it. I have it running on my sons laptop and a pc for downloading and storing TV shows etc. I know my company will not move to Win8 for a very long time - we don't yet have everyone off XP and onto Win7. They are also trying to get us to try out Linux but that is no good for me as I need use Adobe apps which don't run on Linux. I expect to see business laptops come with touch screens as default over the next few years so it will not be as much of an issue for mobile workers to move to Windows 8. Desktop users are another matter - it will cost an awful lot of money to swap to touch interface setups. Yes you can run in old fashioned Desktop mode, but it is not intuitive to do so.
  6. What do you think? Previous question asked what he is doing - I answered. Whats your point?

  10. My LG 50PM670T arrived yesterday and I am very happy with it. The Smart functions work really well, and the picture quality is really good. The Standard definition pictures are only average though this is to be expected on a 50" TV. For £599 it is a really good deal

  13. The LG I posted above - all the same features for £599 if you get them to price match RGB direct. If RGB aren't doing it at that price still then it is £629 at currys. JL will give you a 5 year warranty and match the price. Just fill in the price match form on their site.
  14. Just bought an LG PM670T 50" Plasma for £599 from John Lewis - Full HD, Smart TV, 3D. Took a usb key with me of stuff I downloaded and it played the lot and all of it looked great without needing tweaking. I had to get John Lewis to Price Match RGB Direct as they wanted £799 originally. £599 with a 5 year warranty - can't go wrong.

  19. Out of curiosity I had a look on GiffGaffs site and lo and behold there is a whole consultation going on about changing pricing. Looks like they want to hike their prices by 30% for those currently using their £10 good bag, or alternatively restrict data use to 750MB for the same group.
  20. What issues are GiffGaff having at the moment - I haven't come across anything and my service has been great since day 1 (apart from when O2 stuffed their network)
  21. Agree on having them in their own room from day 1. We did it with both of ours and they were both sleeping through the night at 4 weeks old - and have been ever since. Friends had theirs in with them and now they are in their own room they are up at 5am every day!

  25. Write and deliver training for the worlds largest software company. Work from home 70%, in UK office 5%, travel overseas the other 25%. Off to Bangkok next, then Staines, then Riyadh, then maybe the US, Malaysia, and India before the end of the year.
