I flew Emirates LHR-DXB-Bangalore and hated it. They advertise their new service but you have to be very lucky to actually be on a plane with it. Worst business class seat I have ever had to fly - and I fly a lot. Will probably use them again once they have the A380 but until then - no chance. Dubai lounges are shocking too.

It was always Ayche when I was a kid. My eldest daughter has been taught Hayche at school, my youngest - Ayche

I hate American spellings. I write training materials for a living but all my colleagues are American and the editing is done there. I take great pleasure in making sure I use English throughout the classes I write. The editors then have to go and change each and every English word to its American version. I think they hate me - but I don't care!

yep - Virgin first, BA second. US airlines are on the whole pretty crap and the cabin crew are usually old hags.

I guess it just the way Virgin broadcast it - its the same with mine and no amount of fiddling can change it

Even better - must have confused Heroes with Lost. Will be downloading Heroes tomorrow then!
-
well could have made a short term killing if we had bought HBOS or RBOS stock yesterday - up 50% at one point today!

Dexter is great - series 3 is about to start in the US but you can watch the first one online on megavideo already. I watched it last night and looks like we will have another good series. Series 2 is currently available on Virgin's on demand service if you happen to have cable with them. Also watch Prison Break, Heroes and 24. PB started again earlier this month, 24 and heroes start again in January.

I think my wallet looks better positioned than Lehman right now!

Energy isn't that great - yes if you want to wait for dividends, no if you are looking at share prices. Most Oil, Gas, and Electricity shares are trading a little above the low point for the year - does that mean they are in recovery - maybe. Does it mean they are going to fall some more - maybe. Right now you may as well put a few quid on Ronaldo being the top premiership scorer - he might, he might not.

And yesterday would have been a good day to but LTSB - up 16% today. I think both will still get dragged down with the rest of the sector. Long term probably a good buy, short term probably not. Having said that I will be wrong and they will soar and I will have missed out! Just too risky right now unless you have lots of cash. If you can't afford to lose money now is not the best time.

and they don't lose anything for ****ing up the rest of the world! Still have their bonuses from good years. Don't think our government will be able to bail out anyone now - already spent too much on the Northern Rock - they were lucky they were the first to go. Several other institutuions are really struggling. Some small building societies have been forced to join up with Alliance and Leicester to prevent them collapsing. A&L themselves are struggling and so have just agreed a takeover by Santander(Abbey). HBOS and Lloyds/TSB are looking to merge as HBOS are overexposed...nigthmare

well just keep an eye on whats going on - I may be wrong but I dont see a recovery anytime soon. You might make some money in non financials. Their stocks will slide with the market on the whole so you may find some bargains that way. The housing market is not expected to start recovery until spring of 2010 so until then banks are going to see over exposure to mortgage debt - repossessions will go up. I would think property at that point or slightly before would be a good investment. I would keep my money in a savings account/isas until there is light at the end of the tunnel.
-
it will get worse before it gets better - more financial institutions to go - followed by other businesses related to the financial industry. Give it a few more months and then it might be worthwhile. Just glad I am not retiring in the next few years - anyone with pension funds in stocks must be covering their eyes!
-
Agree with this - I know 2 people who are now likely to be in the **** financially and neither are bankers. Both are systems people

No but a quick search of some torrent sites may help you out if you are that way inclined a quick google showed several available.

I would echo this - Goa gives you the best of both worlds - beaches and sightseeing. Leela hotels are fantastic - although not been to the Goa one yet. Stayed at the one in Bangalore and couldn't fault it.

15 metres from my bed to my office in the garden...very relaxing. Having said that when i do have to go in to the office I have to drive from Luton to Staines - M1 and M25. Who knows how long it will take each day. Quickest is 40 mins, slowest 150mins!

Yawn - nothing new, nothing exciting. It seems Apple are becoming very mainstream and less innovative. Stock down as the announcement was so dull

Certainly seems like things are heading that way - Flavio Briatore seems to prefer to keep control of his money - QPR owner Flavio Briatore has told BBC London that he will decide where the club's money is spent. "I don't trust anyone with my money. Sometimes I will ask the manager of the bank but not the coach," he said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/q/qpr/7597491.stm

Counsel for Google Chrome, wrote: “In order to keep things simple for our users, we try to use the same set of legal terms (our Universal Terms of Service) for many of our products. Sometimes, as in the case of Google Chrome, this means that the legal terms for a specific product may include terms that don’t apply well to the use of that product. We are working quickly to remove language from Section 11 of the current Google Chrome terms of service. This change will apply retroactively to all users who have downloaded Google Chrome.”

No...ActiveX is only supported by Internet Explorer (and browsers built on top of Internet Explorer) on Windows

Certainly seems much faster now than it was earlier. Memory usage seems a lot lower than Firefox - always a good thing. Firefox using 50mb with one tab open, Chrome - 28MB. Glad to have my home button back - not there by default.
