  2. Any of you students have access to the latest pricing for the MacBook and MacBook Pro through the Educational discounts? My wife is a part time student and can take advantage of the discount but is rarely in the Uni to be able to access the page on the apple site. Cheers
  3. Seabourne has signed a 3 1/2 year contract - according to official saints twitter feed
  4. Two out of the three schools my kids attend are open, the third (the infants) is shut due to frozen pipes. Parents who have kids in both the infants and juniors are up in arms because the juniors is open when the infants is closed. Most live in walking distance of the school. I think a lot of parents can't be bothered to go out in the cold so have kept the juniors off. My wife is a teacher at the juniors and says its half empty but all the teachers are in - even those who live in rural areas Oh and i remember our schools always being open - even in the after effects of the hurricane in 1987. Loads of trees down in Fareham so no buses - we all walked the 3 miles climbing over trees as we went
  5. no multitouch on it but it does have voice control - should be available on Vodafone in the next 2 or 3 weeks. The snapdragon processor should make for a quick phone though.
  6. Bringing 2 of my kids (8 and 5) , my Brother in Law and Nephew (6) - all for their first game. Row C in the Family enclosure. None of them know about it as I saved the tickets for a Christmas present. Should be a good day out for them
  7. I agree - not much to it. I cant use it for work stuff as its not secure so I really have no need for it. Some may find it useful though.
  8. Morning, I have quite a few Google Wave invites to hand out if anyone is interested. Send me a PM and I will invite you
  9. Got the Rabbids game but not played it yet. Reviews are very good though. Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics is pretty good. New Super Mario Bros is excellent - and its a multiplayer game these days.

    Snow

Crazy that the news is reporting that the snow is causing serious problems. A friend of mine lives in Stockholm where he had 40cm of snow yesterday on top of 35cm already on the ground. His daughter was at school and they even went on a field trip! I guess they are a little more used to it but its a bit ridiculous that we can't cope

  12. A quick google popped up this - apparently it supports webcams. http://mercury.im/
  13. only if you have a credit card registered to a US address
  14. I am pretty sure there is an option in itunes to allow use of the ipod as a disk. Activate that and then you should see the ipod in explorer. You can then copy the music files over to the PC. Only problem with this is that the files have odd Itunes assigned names. I have also used an app called copypod but not sure if this still exists. EDIT - you might want to look at this thread on the Apple forums first - just to make sure you dont wipe the music by accident http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2234756&tstart=0
  15. British GP safe for 17 years - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8397777.stm
  16. Me too! Time to go home soon!
  17. - the minimum is around 45mins to an hour of actual gameplay per race meeting. You have the option to skip through a session 3 mins at a time if you don't want to go through it in real time. If you play the game in real time then it will take you 3-4 hours per race meeting.
  18. no I didn't mean a single race - I should have expressed myself better. A race meeting will take 45-60 mins minimum. If you do a full 1 hour for each practice session plus the full time allowed for qualifying you end up at about 3-4 hours. The race then is by default a whole 3 laps. I dont think they have the time balanced correctly - sure you can sit and tinker with the settings if you want.
  19. Again - that depends on the source.
  20. Its pretty good to be fair. I have quite a few driving games and prefer to use the nunchuk for steering rather than the Wii remote as the nunchuk is self centering. I saw a self centering steering wheel for the Wii remote today for just a few quid so might get one and try it out. The issue I have with F1 2009 is that it will take you a minimum of about 45-60 mins for each race in a season.
  21. The OP was asking about 1080p vs 1080i - not 720p. Yes ther eis a big difference between 1080p and 720p - millions of pixels in face, but 1080i/p are very similar and its really only the source of the picture that will affect how it looks on the TV
  22. http://www.1080ivsp.net/ probably explains it the best. Basically it is the way the image is displayed on the screen. 1080p has the image displayed line by line in a single pass, 1080i displays every other line first, then fills in the blanks on the second pass. Having said that LCD/Plasmas these days display all pixels in one go
  23. Fatherland by Robert Harris is an interesting read set in a world where Germany won World War 2
  24. no partitioning needed - just install the HD and boot the install cd - done and dusted. If you really want to partition then you can do it during the windows install very easily
