only problem with the ipad - it costs from £500. I can almost buy 3 netbooks for that.
-
well there is that - but thats no biggie! It does annoy my daughter though.

yep no problems doing pretty much anything with Win7 Starter
-
Mine too - along with Di Maria and Romero - thats 195 points from the 3 of them

I second VLC - very rarely come across something it cannot play. Alternatively - its probably quicker to download the files again in a format you can use rather than try and convert. The conversion process will probably take a while.

good nights scoring with Maicon, Fabiano and Lucio in my team - pushed me up 23 places

All the major networks have now announced they will be stocking the iPhone 4. Wonder if prices will come down. Particularly interested in how the Three network performs.

Taken with a Canon 5D Mark II apparently. Very good quality

ID90s are a standard feature for all scheduled airlines affiliated with IATA. The standard is that airline staff in all departments get a certain number of ID90 tickets (the 90 meaning a 90% discount on the standard full economy fare). Nominated family and friends usually get ID75 tickets which usually have a maximum allocation per airline employee. The airlines usually have reciprocal agreements with other airlines around the world. When I worked at Virgin I regularly just turned up at the ticket desk of various airlines and arranged a ticket there and then at the discounted rate. All of the tickets were standby with the lowest priority. Any paying passenger got the seats ahead of staff - as it should be. Most airline staff will carefully plan their travel to coincide with quiet flights - nobody wants to get stuck half way around the world. Dubai_Phil mentioned that you can tell the passengers who are staff because they get upgraded all the time - this is only the case with cabin crew. The other members of staff are treated no differently than normal staff. These tickets are most definitely perks - and my contract with Virgin said so. In fact I had mine taking away because I did a sneaky change in the reservation system to get my self an upgrade I wasn't entitled too. That cost me 6 months of the perks. Stupid thing to do really as the money was crap and the only thing keeping me there were the flight benefits.

Eh - 'results'
-
I dont get it on search results page but Google is my homepage in chrome. Even picking the white background doesn't help much as they have changed all the text to white! Oh and I didn't mention the search results page in my title
-
How annoying are they! Apparently there is no way to turn them off. I can't read the text on half the backgrounds that have been displayed so far. Sort it out google

and how do you measure 'Clarity'? If the holy grail is 300dpi then only the new iphone can display that today. Tomorrow will be a different story. The latest HTC and Sony Ericsson phones are at 291dpi so very close to the magic number. The difference with the OLED is the contrast ratios. Steve Jobs statement that the 800:1 contrast ratio is the best by far in a phone is incorrect. Samsungs latest phones have 1600:1 contrast ration. They also don't need a backlight, unlike the iPhone so the blacks look black, rather than dark grey.

The screen is a massive difference to what? The latest Samsung OLEDs? What do I want from a phone? The ability to do what I want without a restrictive OS and Apples - Apples way is best mantra. I think I will head down the Android route when my upgrade is due, although webOS is looking mighty interesting these days.

I really don't think Apple went far enough with their innovations - but that is their way. Small incremental upgrades and additions to get people to buy the latest version. Video calling is not new - although if you listen to Steve Jobs, Apple invented it. Yes their implementation is very nice, and easy to use. To then limit it to wifi with the possibility of using it via 3G at a later date is ridiculous. No doubt there will be a hefty charge to use it even though most users will have an unlimited (yeah right!) data plan. Other than video calling what other innovation is there? Nothing that I can see. Mr Jobs can crow all he like about the screen but I bet most normal users will struggle to find any difference between the iPhone 4 and any of the latest Samsung or HTC screens. There are no other new features - just a few improvements in battery life and the camera - big deal. I really like to see companies innovate and bring something new to the table. Unfortunately Apple no longer are the innovators they once were and they are starting to be overtaken by other younger more fluid companies. If you are into design, aesthetics, and having your device locked down then Apple is a good choice. If you want to be less blinkered and see the innovations of other companies without prejudice, you will find devices available and coming soon to surpass the Apple devices.

There is indeed a McD in Bergerac - next to the Auchan Supermarket. I can't vouch for the wifi though

I can understand the appeal but it really has no interest for me. The only time I might find it useful is when travelling and then its going to cost a fortune in data charges abroad. Even if I could get cheap data abroad I would still need to carry my work laptop which can do a heck of a lot more even if its not as portable. Having played on one at LHR on Friday it certainly does what it does well, but it is in effect a large ipod touch with a few extra functions.

True Andy - even I might pass with some revision! But what the heck has it got to do with living, working and integrating in the UK?
-
I failed too - thats a tough test for anyone let alone people who are new to the country! I don't think many of the questions are particularly relevant.

I have been offered an iphone 3GS through a work deal for £300 with a £10 per month data plan. Calls etc are covered by the work plan. I am wondering whether to take the offer or wait until I can upgrade my 3 plan and get an HTC Desire.

You have to add the hackulo.us repositories. Go to http://www.hackulo.us and the instructions are on there.
