Take a look on http://www.techradar.com they have lots of reviews and regularly do top 10 TV lists. Not sure they have a 50" category but take a look.
-
never mind - should have read the OP properly. The principal is still sound though - get yourself a replacement screen on ebay

which ipod is it? I replaced the screen on my daughters with no issues. I bought the replacement on ebay.

I bought one from Aldi - about £20 and it works very well. -

you can buy a USB convertor pretty easily from most computer stores - you just need a PC to plug it in to. The other end plug into the AV connections on your VHS. You can then capture the video digitally on your PC. It takes time to do the conversion as its done in real time. -
Sony 570 is a great piece of kit too - but PS3 for not much more is a better bet. You get the addition of the HDD and the gaming
-
Dragon naturally speaking is the best one out there - you have to spend time training the software to your voice but it works pretty well. I use it for building training materials
-
Yep thats the way it is in Qatar. Non nationals can also purchase alcohol with a permit. To get a permit you have to hand over loads of cash, and have your company sign to give permission.
-
Just buy enclosures for your hard drives and use them USB style
-
just take the hard drive out and unscrew everything you can - take out the actual platters and use it/then as a coaster

get one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Live-Media-Player/dp/B002LZUHMI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1291384589&sr=8-2 I have the first version without ethernet and its a fantastic little box. The Live(networked) version is supposed to be excellent. There is also a large community who release custom firmware for adding extra functionality.

The only thing I find an audio book good for is sending me to sleep. I usually get as far as chapter 2 before nodding off, then wake at the last chapter. Much prefer the Kindle to Audio. With the kindle you can always turn on text to speech if you want to chill a little - although the voice is a bit Hawking
-
Yep Samsung NC range or the Acer One series are the best out there right now.
-
I agree that its nice to have a book in hand. The problem for me is when I travel for 2 weeks I go through 7 or 8 books at least. Its much easier to use the Kindle than lug those around
-
agreed - get yourself onto the newgroups - I get 6MB/s on my Virgin connection
-
Oh and as Red Alert said - pair a kindle with calibre and you have a marriage made in heaven. Downloading full rss feeds daily and syncing to the Kindle is great. There are other sites that allow you to pull a whole website and it will spit out a kindle book.
-
Yep got a Kindle 3 and love it. I travel a lot and used to buy a couple of airport editions every time I was at Heathrow. I have about 100 books on mine that I have downloaded from newsgroups, plus a few freebies from Amazon. Its not the same as holding a book but for convenience its great.

Problem with the cheaper macbooks pro - the 13" screen version is that they still come with a core 2 duo processor. You can probably pick up a top end i7 processor laptop for a similar price. Macs are very good machines for specific purposes - ie graphic design, music creation. For everyday use I would stick with a non Mac. Just because you don't buy a laptop from Apple doesn't mean you need to go the windows route - although I personally think Windows 7 is a very good OS. You have the option of going down the Linux route but its probably only worth it if you like tinkering with stuff under the hood. Ubuntu has matured into a pretty good OS even for those with no Linux skills. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/246059 Samsung R590 for £732. Core i5 with 4GB ram EX Display 15" screen http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Laptops/buy-SAMSUNG-NP-R780-JT3BUK-Laptop/689319 Samsung R780 for £790 Core i5 4GB, 17" screen http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/laptop/range/ipro.html Novatech iPro for £870 Core i7, 4GB ram, 15" screen http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/laptop/range/i5plus.html Novatech i5 plus for £680 Core i5, 4GB ram, 15" screen The last 2 are £90 cheaper if you forgo Windows 7. Linux is free.

really - never had any issue finding anything on newsdemon.
-
I use newsdemon - their top package is just under £13 for 50 connections, ssl, about 620 days retention. Had no issues whatsoever. They have european servers which makes life a little quicker. As for software - I swear by sabnzb along with sickbeard for automatic downloading of TV programs. Both work together really well. I moved to nzbmatrix when newzbin shutdown and haven't needed to go back.

He was definitely gesturing to Petrov after the race as if to say he should have got out of the way. He just couldn't get past him so can have no beef with Petrov. Alonso accused Petrov of being extremely aggressive in some of his manoeuvres in his post race interview. The Renault was just too quick around the corners for the Ferrari. He would still have had to pass Rosberg and Kubica if he had managed to get past Petrov. Renaults could do very well next season.

Stewards Enquiry: Alonso's car found to be underweight following toys from pram throwing incident after race.

Proprty hunting in west dorset/east devon at the moment. Found a nice place in Ottery but beaten too it.
