  1. I'm disappointed because it appears our entire squad is up for sale despite us "not needing the money". I want someone from the club to speak up and say "that's it, no more for sale" but it appears that isn't going to happen. Seems to me clubs have to sell from time to time, and bigger players will move on. But having the entire guts of a squad ripped out in one go? Surely unprecedented, and that's why I'm disappointed. That, and the fact nobody seems to have any interest in stopping it.
  2. Agree with the above, I know we would have all been watching out for him but he looked very comfortable. Felt he was asked to do a different job to his usual Saints role, more in the Big Vic/Jack Cork spot, although he did fill in at left-back once or twice. Super player.
  3. That's the first thing today that made me interested in the World Cup. I mean Rooney and Gerrard coming on as subs? Really?
  4. Thing is, they need to light up the pitch not the seats.
  5. So basically, he's Guly. Good, we need to replace him.
  6. Still don't get why Welbeck remains anywhere near the squad? Is this like John Barnes playing for Bobby Robson for six years on basis of one good run-and-goal? Maybe he has compromising photos of Hodgson or Greg Dyke or something. Almost worth bringing back Heskey to add some lard to the line up.
  7. Someone had better tell Tottenham that their next manager has been lined up for when Poch gets the boot.
  8. Good point, I take it all back. FIFA has a fair system for all manner of indiscipline: "all bribery and corruption - internal and very very VERY strict investigation. making a silly joke about sepp blatter's name - lifetime ban."
  9. True, even Andy D'Urso would have been hard-pressed to do some of those refereeing decisions. It was amazingly bad, and also so obvious what was going on.
  10. Someone should tell Roy that we don't actually need the money. We already are very rich. From what I can gather, we're lacking 1. Champions League football and 2. People lobbying for our club from within the England squad, including the captain and manager. It's like going to the French castle and asking if the guy would like to join the search for the grail. Roy says that by selling these guys we can get a great big pile of cash. "Tell 'I'm we already 'ave one!!!"
  11. ooh teddy teddy
  12. The only reason to appoint Sherwood would be that you could almost guarantee Tottenham won't steal him.
  13. Don't even care any more. If he wants to go, let him go. The quicker the better so we can move on.
  14. Don't worry, he won't have time to turn everyone against him, he'll be at Tottenham come January after MoPo is sacked.
  15. Totally agree. We have to see some kind of player price inflation as a result of the new TV money coming in. We might sell Shaw for 30m and have to spend 70m to re-buy Danny Fox.
  16. Davis (S) or JWP. Possibly Boruc just because he'd love it.
  17. If he doesn't want to stay, I wouldn't him to be forced to stay, esp if there's behind-the-scenes stuff between players and board/Reed. Id rather he was allowed to move if it's a question of him really not wanting to stay. But after all he's been through with us, I'd like to think he'd at least be OK staying. Hard to read between the lines right now... but if he wants out, let him go.
  18. I wonder if he's on his way out also actually. He's making statement that are immediately being made to look silly, and it seems a little like he knew little enough about it to say that stuff. He may be the next departure?
  19. Meantime Liverpool have also bid for Clyne, Cork, Rodriguez and Lovren. Fonte, Schneiderlin and JWP off to Arsenal. Boruc, Shaw and Lallana going to Spurs with MoPo and Chambers, Davis (S), Wanyama and Reed going to Man U. Stoke are coming in for Davis (K) and Yoshida. Ramirez and Osvaldo off to Luton Town, with Mayuka going to Eastleigh despite strong interest from Salisbury. Les Reed has been sold off for spare parts, Jos has been melted down for glue and the stadium has been sold off to Veho to use as a giant test centre. No news yet on Staplewood but Pompey are interested in turning it into a Tescos or something. No bids yet for Gazzaniga.
  20. On the fence right now. Been there for a while and it's starting to hurt a little. Since Cortese left we haven't signed anyone (January or now) or even really had much speculation about it, just had a bunch of press-related turmoil about players leaving, Dodd and Williams removed and now the manager walk out on us with all his coaching staff. There hasn't actually been anything positive yet other than board appointments. So I'm waiting to see what they're going to do and what kind of expectations we should have as fans. Big crossroads moment, investment to push on from where we are or attempting to consolidate? I'm sure something positive WILL happen sometime, but to me it's a question not so much of WHEN they will give us something positive (new manager, signings, targets) but how ambitious they're going to be. Until then we're just sitting and waiting to see what kind of expectation level we're going to have for the next few years. Pivotal moment.
  21. Adam Lallana. That way he'd stay.
  22. I think part of the issue is not that he will leave so much as the fact that we have just had a really good season, some really good performances and what is our reward? Big clubs sniffing around and cherry picking what they want from our squad like it's their right to do so. It proves that it's not possible to break up the monopoly at the top of the Prem and it proves how the bullies always win. For Adam himself I'm sure it's a great move financially and professionally but it's the way it's all come about is what hurts. It means the rest of English football will now only ever be a feeding zone for the biggest fish, and nobody in the game seems to care.
  23. I don't want to get into the Fonte/vision debate but in terms of 'bankrolling' in L1 or Champ, we did something that sides with money do tend to do. What we did in L1 was to say "who is the best striker in the division? whoever it is, buy him." It was Rickie. Sure we got lucky in that he's much better than probably anyone realized at the time and he's done well with our coaches, managers etc BUT the point is, it's a known way for clubs to 'buy' success... Blackburn did it when they won the Prem - both in the Perm itself (Alan Shearer) but also when they were getting promoted to the Prem: David Speedie (seriously) and Duncan Shearer. As soon as they got to the Prem they dumped them. We did the same with Billy Sharp at that level. (Of course we then didn't buy Suarez and Van Persie, so my argument and parallels totally fall apart here). Just saying it's a known, established way to get up the divisions when you have a little money and we're not the first team to do it, and to some extent you COULD call it bankrolling.
  24. Compared to the prize money from the PL and TV revenue etc this isn't as much as we're getting for finishing 8th. What was that, like 80-odd million? Is it just me or is there about to be some serious, crazy, heavy inflation in the prices of Prem footballers? And can we hold on to Shaw and Lallana until the bubble truly is afloat?
