  1. Agree. Couldn't stand him playing for us. Only dislodged Harding as he could put a decent cross in - every other part of his game, particularly positioning awareness, was awful.
  2. This. Good riddance to the arrogant tw*t.
  3. We've been waiting many years for a chance to get our own back on them - bring it on!!
  4. Wow! Amazes me what some people see. "Not a PL player between them" referring to our CBs. Baffling comment! This dude above clearly doesn't rate the young JB who has been solid and made very few mistakes since playing his 21 consecutive PL matches under Ralph. Nor JV who, after a dodgy start, has steadily improved and has clearly been missed in recent matches. Nor Yoshida, who has been consistent, steady and reliable since being frozen out in the first part of the season. Not to mention his excellent mentality and wanting to stay with us when he could be earning a fortune abroad. Stephens, I won't go into. Apparently, all these guys wouldn't make a PL CB between them. Can this user explain/justify his thinking, please?
  5. Yeah, big game for Bed at the back as Stephens will probably have a clumsy error or two in him at some point. Yoshida is a big miss. This could potentially be a very exciting game based on our line-up and the fact that we're going to attack and go for it - something that B'mouth will almost certainly do, too. 3-2, perhaps?!
  6. Shame, really, that it's taken until now to get him into the first-team picture on (hopefully) a longer-term basis. He is 22, after all, so can't really be considered a 'young prospect' in the same way that the likes of Valery or Slattery are.
  7. This has the potential to be a very exciting and even high-scoring game, with both teams now virtually safe and in good form and full of confidence. I'm thinking it could be a 3-2 scoreline for us or them!
  8. I'm glad they had Neves starting, too, as he must have tried about 6 or 7 long-range shots, none of which threatened. I'd have been very frustrated if one of our players kept shooting from range and wasting chances. Is he really being talked about at 100m?! Geez.
  9. Great feeling! Rarely do we get a crucial win and other results go our way, too! Thought the back 3 all played well - lots of important headers and interceptions, minus Yoshida's weak header that dropped to Jiminez. But Yoshi had an excellent game overall. It was clear that JWP in a deeper central role doesn't work. OR coming on was important in the 2nd half. So pleased for Long, too. Harassed them at a time when they didn't want to be defending and won us free-kicks to relieve pressure. Deserved his goal.
  10. Top guy - hope he stays with us for years to come, even if we strengthen at the back as his experience, leadership and personality alone are huge benefits to the Club.
  11. Spot on. It's very frustrating as we certainly don't give ourselves any advantage when we have a throw-in. It's basic stuff and we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot by clearly not working on this in training (or working on it badly, if we do).
  12. Brighton potentially about to somehow clutch a win from the jaws of defeat. This would give them a massive morale boost.
  13. Satisfying to see a fudge-up by VvD!
  14. Yeah, I've wondered this for many years now. We do like to make things harder for ourselves, though!
  15. Yoshida put in a MOTM performance away to Chelsea - interceptions and clearances by the dozen - and Arsenal were always going to pose similar threats the way they come forward. So why is Yoshida on the bench?!?! I wonder what they were doing in Tenerife as this is poor against a pretty average Arsenal side.
  16. Wow, Wolves didn't deserve that - Newcastle must be kicking themselves. Was certain the ref was going to blow before the ball got pumped forward 30secs beforehand. Big slice of luck for us!
  17. I think we put more effort into trying to spell his stupid name than he does on the pitch. I get the whole 'some players need time to adapt' thing, but if I started a job abroad and was still stinking after 7 months then I'd expect to be on my last chance/sacked. He looks atrocious.
  18. Things that we did wrong today: Pre-match: RH setting us up the way he did when it was obvious that Cardiff would sit deep and play for a point. Long starting was never going to work as his strength is running in-behind/channels and they weren't going to give us any space. Austin should have started for movement in the box. During the match: Pretty much everything! Passy-pass-pass - we played into their hands by trying to pass the ball into the goal thru 11 players. Did RB or Valery put a single ball into the box? PEH was woeful - several opportunities to shoot, yet lost the ball or tried yet another pass thru a brick wall. RH made changes too late as it was clear early doors that what we were doing was not effective. Garbage from Saints today. RH has had his first real stinker and hopefully it doesn't cost us come the end of the season.
  19. Bit OTT, Plumstead. All I was saying is that a poor performance/result might force them into a signing or two with all the departures we're experiencing - didn't say I thought that was the right way to go. You think the current squad will comfortably keep us up?
  20. A defeat here might just force RH/the board into a couple of signings tomorrow. Looks a very risky strategy right now to count on the current squad to definitely stay up and then strengthen in the summer.
  21. This. Despite the best attempts of the officials (ref, in particular), an excellent win and great performance after Weds night's disappointment. Well done Saints! 2 Sat nights in a row to look forward to MOTD!
  22. Romeu, Vest and Stephens will be shattered.
  23. Their keeper will be full of confidence.
  24. Agreed. Some dross out there tonight but he's been rubbish, esp considering his price-tag and reputation.
  25. So many runs from the forwards today off the shoulder of their defenders but midfielders not brave enough to play the thru ball.
