  1. Good appointment. Seems to be growing on me by the minute. Sure Murty must be happy his ex boss has just arrived when he's looking for a contract. Surely must be a done deal now.
  2. Davis Murty Thomas Perry Mills Thomson Sneiderlin Gillett Holmes Lallana Saga Subs:Forecast,James,Rasiak,Patterson,Gobern, wotton
  3. Obviously the board needs to appoint the manager they feel is best. The hoddle debacle shows how badly wrong it can go when you try and choose a compromise candidate. My only request is that if they come up with Adams at the top of their list they check they haven't got it sorted in descending order. There's many managers fans have been underwhelmed with but who turn out to be big successes.
  4. Liam Dickinson is just the sort of player i'd love saints to sign. He was stunning at Stockport but for some reason never got a chance at derby. Stillscored goals when they sent him out of loan. Just read brighton are likely to buy him. Surely this is the sort of player we should be after.
  5. I don't get the sneiderlin hate. Personally thought we looked much worse when he was missing from the team injured for spells in the first half of the season. He can pass better than anyone in our team. I liked having someone who could ping the ball 30 yards and land in on a fellow saints foot. Yes he probably needed time to adapt to english football but the problems in the team for me were more more systemic at the back and up front. We never had the right blend of players to be a good team despite having some good players at the club. I'm still desperately hoping he doesn't leave but resigned to the fact he probably will go to a higher division club.
  6. League would never allow us to start in league 2 so i'd choose the -27 over ceasing to exist.
  7. My gut feeling is Lynam and Le Tiss sold the club to the backers on the promise of instant promotion to the championship. Once this suddenly seemed unlikely with -10 start the backers dug their heels in. Maybe i'm completely wide of the mark but really devastated and am clinging on to desperate swiss hope.
  8. I'm fairly happy with a 10 point deduction for teams going into administration. What i think is completely unfair is the -35etc that Luton were given. Also i think the deduction should always be deferred to the next season or at the very least have a cut off point where it always applies to the next season. Stockport getting away with it because they were safe in mid table seems completely unfair to me and saints getting told 'if you stay up you get deducted and therefore go down and if you go down we'll apply it next season' is also unfair.
  9. Have to say i'm still disappointed he's gone. Obviously not surprised. He was the other youngster alongside walcott who seemed to have the real potential to murder defences. Never got a regular run for a couple of seasons(maybe due to his size) and for some reason(i guess his attitude combined with his thievery) he was shipped off part way through this season when i felt when your trying to build a squad round the academy players he should have been a regular. When i saw him against QPR earlier in the season he was jackyl and hyde, but the moments when he was good he was sensationally good.
  10. Lowe was bad & an arrogant idiot but let's not forget the fans swept the revolutionary wilde who was responsible for a huge part of this financial mess. That's all i meant. Idiots are more likely to be bought out if fans stick to team matters. Fans shouting 'board out etc' is more likely to scare off people who might take over a club because they'll realise if things go south those same fans will be doing the same thing to them. A lot of villa fans didn't like ellis but in the end ellis completed the deal to sell to lerner and it wasn't because fans were proesting on the terraces.
  11. Made in southampton wrote "Not sure I really care. But I understand people will want to know. I just think its about time we started to support our football team. For too long now we've concentrated on what people have been doing behind the scenes. Get behind the team FFS. " Well said that man. Let's not turn on our board ever again. It's not the kind of thing that leads to positive change no matter how much people don't like individuals. Let pinnacle get on with running the club if they conclude this deal & the fans concentrate on the field matters.
  12. I'm sure individual members of staff could opt not to come into work. That wouldn't liquidise the club. That individual could instigate legal proceedings over not getting his pay but i doubt that would be quicker than waiting to see if we get liquidised next friday. I would have thought the club itself can't go into administration as all the assets are held by the holding company. Surely it's takeover or kaput. Happy to be told i'm wrong on these facts as it's just my layman's perspective.
  13. I can't believe if the club was being wound up the news wouldn't have leaked out to the media well before they called in ground staff to announce it. It may very well be bad news just not the fatal death knell.
  14. Am i the only one worried Mills will now sign for Championship S****horpe rather than stay with league 1 saints.
  15. I Hope he learns from the experience. He was legend as a saints player but that doesn't mean he doesn't have his own personal demons to front up to. If he's got to this stage i'd hope the experience would make him confront his issues with alcohol.
  16. Unfortunately 700k isn't that low a sum now we're in league 1. I'm just hoping that we do get taken over and keep the rest of good younf players we've got at the club.
  17. Davis James Saejs Liptak Skacel Smith Lallana Sneiderlin Surman Saga Mcgoldrick
  18. Agree with you. Jan's team tried to play a certain way and when it worked like against reading it was a joy to behold. Results haven't improved & i despaired watching the way we played today.
  19. Sorry but i may not like lowe for being an egoistical tyrant but i'd much prefer whoever takes over to act like him than be like the financial dimwits who put this club on the brink of destruction. After Lowe left Burley was given free reign to sign over priced and high wage earners with sole concept that we might sneak into the playoffs and this huge gamble would paid off. IMO you need stability to succeed not reckless ill judged gambling. Give me financial prudence anyday.
  20. Snowballs2 wrote "Not a friend of Crouch either..However I do respect his business acumen far more Than either Wilde or Lowe. People should also realise that Crouch on his own was only given 5 months at the head Of Slh, far far shorter than Lowe or Wilde , the pair screwed up far more than Crouch." my opinion is that anyone with proper business sense would have known that he would have needed to get wilde on side if he was to hope to remain chairman. the fact that lowe was able to outmaneovre him and gather the support to remove him shows he's a much more savvy businessman. Crouch strikes me as someone who's used to being in sole charge and getting his way by telling people what to do. At the moment without a single owner its about governemnt by consensus in putting together a long term strategy. He's not the nicest of blokes lowe but i respect his ability in the current situation much more than crouch.
  21. I don't mind fans not going for many reasons. It's the concept that some aren't going not because they don't want to or can't but they see it as a of forcing a regime change that irks me. How thay can so easily forget the last goon(wilde) tons of fools rallied round and proclaimed a saviour. I don't like lowe much but i think the fans should focus their attention on the team rather than meddling in boardroom affairs. Let's wait for someone with proper money to come and make an offer for us rather than trying to Build Crouch into something he's not(a Saviour)
  22. Think his first paragraph about how if he and pearson had of stayed we would have had huge gates and therefore would not have to do any of the extensive cost cuttings the current regime have is nonsensical and just a chance to have a dig. There's some interesting stuff that suggests the hone/delieu lot were the utter idiots of the piece. I liked that he said big investment was the only way forward but i think trying to hintwe'd be any closer to be taken over if he was still in charge is unrealistic. It'snice to see he's calling for saints supporters to go see the team. I've always not had a problem with crouch as someone passionate about saints. My big problem with Crouch has always been his ability to work with others. Mike Wilde may be a git but he is the biggest shareholder and needed to be involved and not p*ssing into the tent from outside. If we're going to be taken over he'll have to sell his shares so he has to be in the boardroom. Lowe manages to work with him despite wilde being responsible for him being kicked out the first time round. i don't see crouch being that pragmatic.
  23. At reading last week we were amazing. Today the problem was upfront where robertson had a shocker. Bwp was frustrating because while at times he looked good that limp shot when one on one with the keeper was just so bad. Mcgoldrick good but not sure about him up top as the target man. My view was today that we were the better team. I'm sure charlton will be disappointed that they didn't score in the 5 minutes before half time when they had us on the ropes. However 2nd half we passed the ball deliciously. If bwp could have finished or patterson would have cut the ball back across goal rather than going for glory we'd have won and it wuldn't be a travesty. Once pearce came on they couldn't threaten us aerially. He's got to start every game imo just for his aerial ability. Davis 10 James 7 Cork 8 Perry 8 Skacel 7 surman 8 Sneiderlin 8 Lallana 8 (if he could shoot what a player he'd be) mcgoldrick 7 BWP 6 Robertson 4
  24. What drivel. A youth centred approach will deliver stability. Arsenal are a very stable side that have players coming through at all age groups being groomed to play the arsenal way. Whether a youth centred approach will deliver you the title is a completely different question. Given that we are trying to stay afloat rather than win the league i think we're on the right track.
  25. Just got back from the game. Firstly we werent playing 442. It was the same formation we've been playing all season just with robertson and bwp out wide mcgoldrick actually had some support. We were brilliant from the first minute, passing and moving the ball effortessly. Wwent a bit jittery when they scored. Had my head in my hands only to see the linos flag on their offside second goal. then we worked our socks off to hold on for the last 20. The quality of some of the football we played was outstanding. Sneiderlin and surman were a joy to watch in midfield. Lallana is so gifted its scary. In the end they stopped trying to play football and resorted to lumping the ball upfield which would have worked on another day. This day though perry & Cork were immense at the back Davis 8 (solid, caught one peach of a dangerous cross) James 7 (glad they had hunt against him rather than someone with pace who might have exposed him) Skacel 7 (I'm tempted to give him a 8 Perry 8 (i was sure this cb pairing were going to get nailed by doyle but they dealt with Cork 8 him superbly & did remarkably well aerially as well) surman 9 (i love surman playing midfield in this formation. Such a good player. Sneiderlin 8 Lallana 8 (all the skills BWP 9 (2 goals, one header what else has to be said) Mcgoldrick 7 (played well but needs to finish better) robertson 7 (very good in first half but faded. should have finsihed better too)
