3 vital points which keeps the dream alive. Sounds like the team struggled and sneiderlin wasn't at his best. So hopefully that 70 minutes after his injury will set him up to get back to his best against charlton. Surprised we brought on antonio rather than papa.

There was that rumour earlier that he'd turned down a loan move elsewhere. If true it may not have gone down well with Pardew who would have wanted him to go out and develop as a player.

Jon Otsemobor signed on 6 month contract

Impressed by this signing. Always thought he was a good player and hope he proves me right. -
Some people need to get with the real world. If we pulled Gillett back all we'd get is a sulky angry player. I say good luck to the boy. He's found somewhere he fits to how the manager plays & we can get some money for him. There's 3 or 4 people ahead of him at saints & we're only a month away from the transfer window when there's planned investment in players. It's a no brainer
-
of course he wants france to knock out england. Most of the saints team are english so he'll like anyone be hoping his team knocks them out so he can crow about it. If saints win and pompey lose I'll crow about it. It's no different and there's similar historical rivalry too as france is england's traditional enemy.

Quite funny reading how he's requested to come back to st mary's to vie for first team football after losing his place at grimsby

If its true Roy keane's kicking out a bunch of players from Ipswich i'd be happy if we went after owen garvan of those supposedly in line for the axe.

Saints 1-1 Brentford - Post Match Reaction
Baird of the land replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
sounds like its slowly coming together. although the slowness is exasperating. somebody else mentioned there's no cohesion. that is hardly surprising though considering half the team has only played a hanful of games together at most. Just get fish mills or holmes off treatment table by next saturday & hopefully we'll have some left side width in the team. Also think lallana being hung out to dry on left wing. Really want to see him on the right for a number of games before i give up on him. I'd like a right winger though as an alternative though instead of thomson. -
Swindon 1 v Saints 0 Post-Match Reaction

Centre mid ball winner needed. Please hammond be half decent & be signed for saturday. You can't win games without winning the ball in the first place. Spine needs sorting or else we're in for a long hard season. Worried by the fact pardew refused to make subs till it was much too late. Really hoped he have some tactical nous. Still supporting him & will be till the end of the season. -

Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually touch the ball -

we have to earn the right to play the pretty stuff. I really want us to sign a take no prisoners centre back & really hope hammond will act as the defensive lynchpin for our midfield. In the meantie please bring on gillett! -
Davis Murty Thomas Perry Harding Lallana Gillett Sneiderlin Holmes Patterson Lambert I'd like to see holmes give us a left footer at left wing & also give us some real width. Drop wotton & try gillett & sneiderlin together. Patterson back i as i'm not sure what he did wrong in order to be dropped in the first place. I'm hopeful with a couple of changes & a rocket up them the players will turn in a much better performance against swindon & things will look rosier again.

Think he likes wotton's physical presence in there alongside sneiderlin rather than Gilletts energy.

Saints v Millwall Post Match Reactions
Baird of the land replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Draw was a fair result. Though they shouldn't have had a penalty or the corner before the goal but they had a legimate goal later chalked off. Hated the fact twice their players conned the ref by throwing themselves to the floor and winning a free kick & penalty. We need more depth so we can make effective tactical substitutions like they did. Nice to see the team show some resilence. My ratings Davis: 8. Excellent double save from the penalty & oozed class. Murty: 7: Very Solid & good organiser Harding 8: Excellent defensive fullback Thomas: 6 Clumsy but won a lot of headers. Size matters at centre back this season. Perry: 7: Almost scored, saved a certain goal in first half James: 5 very average, no width Lallana: 6 not a left winger but touches of class Sneiderlin: 7 turned the game in our favour when he came to life in middle of first half. Should have been subbed at 1 nil & then he wouldn't have been there to play that suicidal ball across his own box. Looking forward to him playing a big role this season. Wotton:7 He's a spoiler. Did a good job today. Put vital interceptions in & played the ball simply but effectively. Yes he'll never have any skill but think he'll be useful against other dirty teams like millwall. Saga: 6. Worked hard but just didn't come off for him. Patterson: 8. Good goal, great work rate -
Yes i thought including surman in the list was very harsh. He's one player i'm firmly going to be wishibng the best for this season as i think he was loyaller than most in these mercenary days.

Would love us to sign lee trundle. Absolutely adored some of the goals he scored for swansea down the years.
-
While i have affection for killer for his performances in a saints shirt, i don't want peope with zero qualifications/experience taking up coaching roles.

A lot of players who are free agents are released because clubs who might otherwise want to keep them can't afford to pay them wages over the summer when they get no turnover. That's why you'll see a lot of smaller teams have huge squad revisions as they only keep a smaller core of players. There's plenty of decent players available on frees. maybe not marqee signings but what saints need are some decent senior professionals who can help bring on the still talented youngsters.

Originally posted by S Clarke "Yes they're good young players, but they weren't ready for week in week out football last year, a few appearances here and there would have prepared them much better. In a way last year has possibly slowed their progress." Which of the youngsters played week in week out. Mcgoldrick(did ok got a move back to the champ). Gillett(did very well), James(got better as the season went on), Lallana(had funny season but think it had more to do with not finding a position to make his own than playing too soon. Sneiderlin(started ok but really had a hard time adjusting to english football once we chnaged the way we were playing post poortvielt) Academy players didn't play regularly Thomson(handful of games), did ok on loan at bournemouth Mills(handful of games), did well on loan at s****horpe White (handful of games), did ok at Shrewsbury Gobern(handful of games) Lancashire(handful of games) Patterson(handful of games) Problem is they played their handful of games in a losing team. More likely why pardews looking to get them playing reserve team football is so he can get some senior players in and get the average age of the first team sqaud up to something reasonable.
-
I find the Molyneux thing odd. Every everton fan i spoke to thought he was very a promising player, knocked down the pecking order after picking up a injury.Think he'll stay around as back up to harding this season & maybe some reserve team football will get him going. Or maybe he's as bad as people on here seem to suggest and he'll be off come the summer. Hopefully somewhere in this free agent list is a pacy right winger(???), a pacy attacker(i like the thought of connolly) & a big centre back(sodje would be great(can't see us getting though)) who'll want to join saints. Plus a right back if Murty's seen as too fat to be signed.I would have thought as a free agent already on trial he would have signed by now if he was going to. Those four positions would reassure we as to us having a decent team to put out for the start of the season.
-
Think Pardew's quote on the OS about not keeping a player no matter how talented if they don't have the desire to play at this level. Bye bye saga
-
Good appointment. Seems to be growing on me by the minute. Sure Murty must be happy his ex boss has just arrived when he's looking for a contract. Surely must be a done deal now.

Obviously the board needs to appoint the manager they feel is best. The hoddle debacle shows how badly wrong it can go when you try and choose a compromise candidate. My only request is that if they come up with Adams at the top of their list they check they haven't got it sorted in descending order. There's many managers fans have been underwhelmed with but who turn out to be big successes.

Liam Dickinson is just the sort of player i'd love saints to sign. He was stunning at Stockport but for some reason never got a chance at derby. Stillscored goals when they sent him out of loan. Just read brighton are likely to buy him. Surely this is the sort of player we should be after.
