Indeed they have to have spine to tell players that they are staying or this will end in a stampede where the only players left at saints are the ones we wanted to get rid of.

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included
Baird of the land replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Disappointed Lambert is going to World Cup as a Liverpool player. Really petty of them to force it through now and really poor of saints to accept their minuscule bid but hey ho. Lallana and shaw are still saints players as of now. Refuse to believe we'll further damage the the pr success of having England players on show in World Cup but you never know with this board. -
Lallana had some very nice moments again tonight. Simply has to be in the starting lineup. Rooney, we'll beck and Henderson very anonymous.
-
Yeah don't get why we haven't offered them new contracts, on last day of season cork seemed to want it to get sorted. My fear is that we are trying to slash the wage bill back, otherwise why wouldn't we want to keep 2 of our better players.
-
Jordan Rhodes, obviously would cost far more than 4m, maybe we can explain Liverpool robbed us blind and they'll take sympathy on us and give us a discount.
-
Don't want Saints board to be acting as the agent for our players getting them their dream moves whilst screwing the club over. I want them to act in the interests of Saints.
-
We'll be getting Le Tiss out of retirement like Guernsey did at this rate to wear the number 7.
-
We're on course to be the club everyone points at and looks at with pity, rather than the model for others to admire and wish to emulate that we've been for the last few seasons. Either the board permits this firesale and we all hope a white knight appears on the horizon to buy the club before its too late or they shock us all by revealing some gumption by retaining and improving upon our squad for a push towards the europa league places as promised.
-
Can't afford to lose both Shaw and Lallana now imo. This can't become a fire sale if the club has any serious ambitions towards staying in the league, let along finishing in the top half again. However i have little faith in them not to flog them both, then flog Lovren, Wanyama & Morgan too.

All of the Liverpool fans i've heard from are delighted at picking up Rickie for a bargain fee. Saints have acted criminally in selling him at such a knockdown price.
-
Can't blame Rickie unless he promised to go on strike if we refused Liverpool's pitiful offer. All the blame lies with Reed and Krueger for accepting the sirt cheap bid.
-
He doesn't wear a clown suit with bells on it but other than that he seems a master of the art of letting custard pies hit him in the face and doing prat falls.
-
Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport · 18m Heading to Wembley for what might be a small chance of speaking to #saintsfc players - if I fail, I'll wish I'd been at Ageas Bowl Wondering if its a small chance he'll be able to speak to them or a small chance that they'll still be saints players by the time he arrives.
-
Do we have to sell Ward-Prowse to skates for a pittance now too. Missed this new rule about professional footballers having to play for their childhood clubs.
-
Add ons for a 32 yr old sounds dodgy. only thing i can think of is clause if they win league this season, which In effect would nothing and would have sold a star player for peanuts because the chance of Liverpool winning the league next season is very slim.
-
Agree, Maybe there's a snack shortages in the boardroom.
-
Extremely worrying that Saints are representing the interests of Liverpool and Lambert and No one cares about what's in the interest of Saints.
-
If Liverpool had offered a good fee i could understand the logic. As is appears Saints have sold him for a pittance as well as letting liverpool dictate the timings to ensure saints get less global publicity by having an england player on show in world cup. Unforgiveable behaviour by the board. Got to wonder what pittance fees they are going to accept for the rest of the squad if they are happy being a beggar happy with whatever spare chance liverpool are charitable enough to lob our way.
-
Imagine Liverpool's reaction if anyone bidded 4m for 33yr old Gerrard. Our response of rolling over at the first tiny bid was pathetic.
-
The board can't even negotiate a decent fee for Lambert, what makes you think even if they bid Benteke they'd be able to get him.
-
Maybe Liverpool upped their offer from 4m to 4m and a packet of salt n vinegar crisps and our board hadn't had any breakfast so they accepted because they were hungry. Wonder if Les and Freddy have ordered a pair of matching clown suits.
-
Guys got the world at his feet. Shouldn't be moving just for the money but move that makes sense football wise. The likes of Chelsea clearly would make sense(champions league football and no natural left back competition)
-
Embarrassing by Saints. Selling a key player for a cut price fee shows just how incompetent the board are. Liverpool must be laughing their arses off at low easily they robbed us. Said i'd judge board by actions not on Krueger's nice words on wednesday. His first action is basically to show every club that we are a complete soft touch when it comes to transfer fees.
-
Club needs to serve its own interests. Selling Rickie for a packet of peanuts because he wants to go there would be ridiculous. Liverpool need to pay a decent fee if they want him, at least match what we turned down from West Ham in Jan.
-
If we fold and let them bully us into selling dirt cheap, they'll keep coming back and beating us up for our bargains. Bloody Swansea extracted 15m for the awful Joe Allen. 4m for england international is an utter joke
