Probably going to milk us dry and then once the next crop of youngsters come through they'll milk us some more. Hope I'm wrong and they put their foot down, stopping players mapping their exit strategies and re-invest.

Are Liverpool buying lambert just to unsettle the ship?
Baird of the land replied to djharvey's topic in The Saints
They are buying him because we are willing to sell him dirt cheap. Added benefit for them is it gives them an added lever in ensuring they steal the rest of our players they want for equally cheeky amounts. -
Disagree saints have to act in saints interests not lallana's. If we let him and all the other targeted first team players we will be in free fall next season. Other clubs reject bids because they have ambition so should we.
-
Very disappointing if Lallana is trying to force the club to sell immediately. Hoping impression that we are going to reject liverpool's undervalued bullying bid is true. Saints captain has to go to World Cup as a saints player. Ideally we keep him. Worst case scenario we get our valuation.
-
Worry it is worse. They might be asset stripping in the hopes that there are more academy players to asset strip for big money in a season or 2's time. Hope that worry is completely unfounded and club retains star players.

Starting to despise Liverpool.

Clear out those who want to move on
Baird of the land replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Not that would want to come to saints in the midst of a fire sale. -
Cortèse' saints I could see convincing wellbeck of our ambition to push on, making a name for himself as an out an out striker. This new version, no chance in a million years is wellbeck going to consider coming here. The ambition is muted and the only words on people's lips are how much and when rather than stay away.

Clear out those who want to move on

No you are wrong, you don't improve by selling your best players and then only having the option of attracting substandard ones as their replacements. -
If Everton held out for 27.5m for Fellaini, then adding the English premium(homegrown value) he's worth 30m easily.
-
If true that yakin's off market, that really leaves koeman's of those options as stand out. Think gross is a decent manager but when we are under siege by hostile press giving them more ammunition in the form of a manager who they pilloried at spurs doesn't seem wise.
-
Doubt we'll see Rodriguez till Xmas. New signings are going to have to be top drawer.

Odds for Relegation next season...
Baird of the land replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Those players came to a club with ambition. If we sell all the players being touted we won't be able to get replacements of the same standard. I'm waiting for more signs of if this is a fire sale before betting though. -
It would fly completely in the face of our strategy of bringing through our own youngsters and hardly see reed getting any football there which would completely set his development back.
-
Simon peach on twitter doesn't seem to think offer is too good to refuse. Hoping he's right as I think it should be refused and hope Liverpool go after shaqiri if they have that little interest in him.
-
Really is a fire sale if we are selling the entire academy to Liverpool.
-
How does the song to.... And if you tolerate this then your lovren will be next.

Hate this nonsense about not wanting to keep an unhappy player. Suarez wanted to go to arsenal last summer but Liverpool wouldn't let him and he didn't sulk on the pitch. If the deal doesn't match what saints want or if saints don't feel selling is in their interests now they are perfectly in their rights to fig their heels in and say come back next year.
-
Come on saints board reject liverpool's supposed cheeky final offer. Might gain you some respect.
-
Sorry completely disagree. 30m should be our red line in the sand at bare minimum. Also don't think we can afford to let the exits become a stampede so we have to be tough in regards who we allow to go and ignore the players feelings. 2 seasons ago Swansea did great. They sold Allen but they didn't sell michu, William's, Taylor, vorm etcetera who were all coveted by other clubs.
-
If they sell all those players then yes there should be a peaceful demonstration urging them to put the club up for sale as they clearly will have illustrated they merely want to asset strip saints. Personally I'm still hoping they are just naive and the lambert debacle will make them realise they have to dig their heels in and resist all bids rather than acting as the facilitators of moves.
-
No it ain't. I see no issue with our 30m valuation. Even rejecting that valuation is perfectly reasonable as we should severely limit the number of departures this summer.
-
Kyle lafferty could be decent low priced option.
-
Indeed, let them move onto other targets. We shouldn't want to sell lallana anyway.
-
Yep we can't afford to let more than 2 go in my opinion or it will snowball. Given we've flogged lambert that would mean one of shaw or lallana but not both.
