Really disappointing if true that we down to chasing the likes of Long imo.
-
I was very impressed by Redmond against us when Norwich beat us away last season. Clearly not consistent enough for them last season though. Don't see Townsend as any better personally and feel we are more likely to get Redmond & may cost less in wages and fees. So hoping it happens. Rather guarded regarding Gardos. He's got very big shoes to fill in terms of hole in defence Lovren has left.
-
Right now to me we appear to be weaker than last season everywhere except in net. We've got Morgan sulking and Cork seemingly in limbo. Jrod likely out for half the season too. Last season i was confident of a top half finish before kick off, whilst this season that seems a fanciful prospect. My prognosis is that we'll be flirting with relegation zone at times this season but emerge a safe low mid-table,14 etc.

Would be utterly gutting if we lose cork. Would really be the final kick after lamentable way squad has been torn apart.
-
I'd be absolutely infuriated if we lost Cork. Such a great little player.
-
Yeah while slightly tentative about Bertrand i can understand and somewhat get behind their reasoning.
-
Makes me feel a bit better as my limited experience of seeing him play left a less favourable impression. If he can be a solid citizen at left back and we spend money improving central defensive options markedly maybe it'll work out.

Don't think he's a particularly impressive signing. Guess it's only a loan. Really hoping targett comes through brilliantly this season. We are going to be massively weaker at left back no matter what.
-
Yeah can't see them letting him go for any less. I'm not particularly keen to be spending that amount on a 29 year old personally but he is a good player.

I'm firmly supportive of the board's decision to finally stop the dominoes falling. I'd prefer a stroppy Morgan than sending signal for more sharks to start circling the club, the next cadre of players agitating to join the exodus and Saints being laughing stock of the leagues marginally above Blackpool.
-
Hope you are wrong, Selling JWP would be worse than Chambers in stupidity, selling Morgan would show board to be liars and it would be open season on rest of first xi sales. I'd be gutted at Cork leaving for what would be peanuts for which we'd then have to shell out millions to try and replace him.
-
Sinclair, i'm unsure about given his poor time at WBA. Still youngish and was very good at swansea. Maybe at the right price and right wage. Rodwell. We simply don't need him at the moment imo. If we really aren't selling Morgan and not crazily letting Cork go that is. Guidetti, no thanks
-
Think they are getting less stick overall. I certainly have been mollified by the show of strength. As with you i'll keep my outrage powder dry in case they break their word and sell Morgan but i'm not going to abuse them on this premise beforehand. Think Chambers one is the catalyst for this stand, which makes selling a future star cheap and early slightly less galling if they actually hold their ground.

Didn't know lodge had been sold. That was a part of Lowe's academy development ethos.

Disagree Krueger and board have finally done what should have been done earlier. Morgan's just going to have to accept he'll have to wait till next summer to move on like Modric did several years ago at spurs. If he strikes he's not helping himself.
-
Not sure I agree. It ignores other teams strengthening their line-ups. A new left back, centre back, right back, and attacker and we might have numbers to say we've replaced shaw, lovren, chambers and covered for Jrod. They still have to play to same very high standard. Hoping newfound board toughness and clever non panic buys can put us on right track though.
-
No way Forster will come to sit on bench. Don't believe Boruc will sit on bench either. Either he'll go now or in jan if we sign Forster.
-
Disagree shaw was on a long term deal and decision to cash in early on him set dominoes rolling.
-
Shaw and chambers both should have been told to serve their time IMO. Didn't happen and we've got to hold what we've got this season.
-
He'll know full well like Modric at spurs that he'll eventually be able to force his way out next summer.
-
They better not compromise or the next wave will smell blood and follow him. Board would be laughing stock of league if they roll over like whipped curs. Hold the line and let the spoilt brat cry and moan until he realises he'll need to play well to keep his suitors interested and his international place.
-
He most likely was informed(given he supposedly had a meeting today) and wasn't happy with their stance. The chairman making a public promise to fans takes it to another level, hence his snide tweet attack. Just hoping saints have guts to hold their nerve no matter how many toys he chucks from pram. Line in the sand needs to be held.
-
Yeah it'll be hard to slam the floodgates shut after leaving them open so long. Better than leaving them open and the good ship saints sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

The thread for people who want to say sorry to the board
Baird of the land replied to berkshiresaint's topic in The Saints
Their incompetence and weakness has put us in this situation. I certainly won't be apologising to them. I will happily applaud them though for finally waking and smelling the coffee and showing some gumption. Long may it last.
