  1. Aah - Dutch first division V the English leagues? Anyone heard of Frank Demouge? Played for Utrecht, came to us (AFCB) as a marquee signing, kept getting injured and Eddie Howe didn't like the look of him (attitude we think..) So he's on loan at RODA and scoring again. He's having an interview for one of the Dutch football websites and says that Lge 1 defenders are generally better than Dutch first division ones. So I think we can safely say that after the Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV group, the standard is pretty poor! We do tend to underestimate just how good our leagues are, under the Prem.
  2. I read the Paddy Barclay bit in the Standard too..unbelieveable - he usually kmows what he is talking about too..
  3. You care? I thought so. Mind you, there's only so many times you can save a club Now its Swindon who passionately dont care! ..I even paid a fiver to this site once. I think I saved it
  4. He He. Another one who doesn't care about us with so much passion. Hope Rick wins actually - it will be different to say the least.
  5. Rolls Royce...I agree - although I wish they had made the one that exploded on the runway in Toronto a few years ago properly. Air Canada...'you won't wanna get off'.............Oh yes I f**king will! Could have ended up with one less Bournemouth fan in the world that day, and we need everyone we can get
  6. Interesting thread - as A Bournemouth fan, we do find it hard to gloss over the £100k golden handshake and a couple of over the top buys, as he guided us to the Championship for the first time and kept us there for THREE (not one!) seasons..yes, big wow I know, but without the Leeds match being the last match of the season and all the trouble it brought, we may well have survived another year.. I don't agree that he is wholly a chequebook manager though - at the start of our Div3 winning season in 86-87, he had 11 players and no goalie, with the main striker gone (a certain Mr Clarke!). He then fashioned a team that took the then Div3 points total record with 97 points, getting some cheap youngsters like Carl Richards, old warhorses like John Williams (aka Solent radio) and some battlers (Tony Pulis). For these reasons, I think he'll do well with England - as he plays good football and treats the 'stars' like adults...although shame they rarely act like them!
  7. I take it this is the £83 million SKY spoof - been on every m/b in the country by now!! Ours was Marc Pugh LOL
  8. Well I think we have come to the stage that we are just going to roll with it and see what happens - a local derby with Bmth Poppies in the Wessex lge if it all goes tits up!
  9. Agreed. Your humble servants, roll over for you, rabbits in headlights etc..........AFC Bournemouth. - now slightly less skint.
  10. ..because you are far too mahoosive for us to help out anyway!! Monitoring the (Will) Hoskins situation - its a sell, not a loan, £450,000 apparently. Would be nice if it comes off, we'll see. Edit: ah yes - easy to get confused
  11. OK before he moved from Hudd. happy now?
  12. ANTHONY PILKINGTON!!! (Sorry it was painful watching this drag on
  13. Get rid of football at the Olympics - and take Tennis and basketball too. The olympics should be the pinnacle for all the sports taking place.

Another one who should have stayed with us (Bompey) a bit longer. Such a shame when they jump ship too early - even though we were probably paying him peanuts. Thought the stats for our games were ok, considering the age he was back then. Agree though that I think you should be looking higher than him tbh.
  15. Interesting one for us to ponder. Bits of the usual 'fat scummer'stuff on our site...but head over heart I think most people realise a fit and sharp would JB would be a great addition. I agree - if it did happen and he did really well, I presume he would be off to the Championship at the end of the season (not with us LOL!)..probably won't happen though, although the wage cap might rise a little with the russian involved now.
  16. ...I think the bit you were missing was...'still do it though' To add..perfect body? Nikalla - ex page 3. Slim but not too skinny, perfect knockers...discuss..
  17. Leven's goal isn't that good - never understand how these 'Beckham type' goals get creamed over so much. Wow you can kick it a long way and luckily it went in. There were at least 3 or 4 better ones on saturday. One Justin Fashunu type curling half volley was amazing - might have been Scunny - Tranmere? IMHO alot more skill involved...
  18. Its nuts...shat myself first time, but after they aren't too bad as it gives you a prior warning to get the Anadin extra down your neck! I get about 1-2 a year..quite often its been on that day after a hangover (say a Monday). First of all the vision doesn't look right, like a sort of small blind spot on the right hand side. then I get the zig-zag pixellated effect that comes to centre vision, and goes back to the right and disappears after about 20 mins. Very bizzare....
  19. Being the resident Bournemouth lurker...can I just say that our (AFCB's) home crowds get shown up for how bad they are when the 'local population/urban areas' stats get aired....and does show Pompey's to be not as great as always thought (although with them, its generally how fervent the fans actually turning up are) Reasons have been well debated on our board...the usual transient population/Premiership/too midde class reasons come out. You are benefitting from the long haul in the top division through most of the last 40 years - really helps to build up a good base (and too many in BH areas too LOL!!)
  20. Apparently the winding up order has been sorted. So a couple of wins and its looking better - Mitchell has been sidelined as the drunk charman - although he is having discussions with Abramovich's cousins about investment allegedly LOL.. So now since Mitchell has said our finances are ok - we are being held to ransom for possible transfers!! us being held to ransom? unbelievable...
  21. Yes, see your point. Some clubs are big to start with though and I can see Arsenal's fans getting annoyed as AW wouldn't spend any money. Reading are different - knocking round with us then suddenly hit the big time, just because of JM. I wonder if all City's fans are that happy. I would like investment at Bournemouth, but not too much (if you know what I mean..)
  22. This. With bells on. Who the f**k do Reading think they are? Being a Bournemouth fan - did have to roll the eyes a little when i read some of the Royals (sorry biscuitmen) moaning about Madjeski. Beyond belief. They should worship that man until the day he dies!!
  23. Cheers Jam and Soulboy1 Yes I did think the banter thing got a bit nasty on both sides - still got a few WUM's on our Echo site..oh come on you got promoted and beat us three times, what more do you want LOL! Usually a bit different over a pint in a pub isn't it. People can act a bit hard behind a keyboard. Oh well time to get some work done before I get the tube to the basement battle!
  24. lurking Bmth fan again... Hamburg is ace - went there for my stag do back in 2006 - and amazed that it was never mentioned as major stag venue, so felt like a bit of a trendsetter (although I know its been a weekend venue for yonks) Highlights - 1. No UK stag do's and just german hen nights! 2. Friendly locals - and bars open all hours. Or saturday night was from 6.30pm-1.15pm Sunday 3. Fishmarket - huge warehouse by the docks - really busy and the main time is Sunday from 6-11am. Beer stalls, Karaoke, smoked eel for brekkie!! 4. Beachbars on the dockside Amazing place, you'll have a great time. Our hotel was on the reeperbahn, which isn't that bad..although the Artic Monkeys 'sun goes down' was made for Hamburg. No pace like it in this country..London 24 hour city? yesh right! Oh I want to go back now!
  25. Being the resident Bmth fan on here - did write a decent post last night - but the server was down! typical. Regards the last two posts - I've been banging on about it all last season, actions of some don't always reflect the thoughts of all. Not played you lot much over the years, so didn't really get the rivalry thing from some of our fans. Its mainly from older fans, they all say its from Saints fans causing trouble at Dean Court, supporting the away team and looking for aggro...don't know how much truth there is in that, but a lot of them say it happened. Like a lot my age, we have never really got on that well with teams like Reading, Gillingham or Brighton (some might remember when Brighton invaded the pitch and attacked home supporters live on ITV!). Younger fans might have picked up on the 'scummer' thing - I wouldn't get too worked up about it though..I'm mellowing and don't really 'hate' any other teams that much. Jealous? hell yes!! (e.g Brighton) I and alot of Bmth fans are grateful for the help that Saints gave - but I think when the lines about 'saving our club' are rolled out by some Saints fans, it does grate a little and makes us sound ungrateful and the arguments escalate from there... Anyway, onto Orient tomorrow and the relegation 6 pointer...the soap opera continues!!
