Nah fans in the ground - not the places, although Wolves did that one until we pointed out that the average age of the population dump was only 1 year older than ours. Bit of an old view of Bournemouth now (catch Dave Gorman's latest stand up - he's just moved to Bmth and is outing the old stereotypes quite well).
-
Well I only post now and again and I just had to respond - the PL does really bring out the 'special ones'. God knows what we will end up with if we get this new ground. Doesn't bear thinking about.
-
Well apparently Fraser won’t sign a new contract so I presume he will go this summer or go on a free next season. I suppose Brooks might go, but he’s been a bit quiet recently, although does Poch prefer JWP? Interesting. Ake might go too, although a goalie is our target, I’d prefer Nick Pope over Butland tbh.
-
JWP to Spurs will be good news to us lot (AFCB) - We're worried that Brooks will be Eriksen's replacement (£50 million apparently). But Brooks has looked a bit knackered and 'kicked about' recently and slid off radar a bit.. Any views on Brooks from Saturday?, he did OK we think..
-
Bit angry mate? I know in your own mind the only thing we think about is finishing above you lot - sadly it just isn't true. And as far as taking the **** out of our support - you know as well as I do, the demographics will be pretty similar between the two. Seen some great photos of your support in the past - the lot in the coach to Boro and all the santa hats at Palace??? We've all got them! Anyway, no problem in you lot staying up - got rellies in Lordshill, so always a good bit of banter. Here's to next season...
-
Yep - Well if any club should know about ACL's it's us! I think they probably think he'll break down again. One things for sure...if he plays really well for us and stays injury free, questions will be asked about their physio staff, training methods, etc, perhaps even Wenger's handling of young English players? Depending on how well folk perceive how well Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain to have faired since they left you.
-
Like I said. Depends on what happens. If we have shelled out and he gets injured straight away, then we look like mugs. If he stays fit all year and helps us stay up..that's £5 million well spent. Certainly adds added to edge to each match we play...sharp intake of breath with each heavy challenge he takes!
-
Ha ha. Yes, herein lies the problem. Great for us at the moment, played well against Milan, BUT we will have to live with the sharp intake of breath every time he takes a heavy challenge. Gamble, could go either way.
-
As a Bmth lurker on here - i'd like to think we do improve players too, Josh King came on really well and we got laughed at by paying £1 million for him! £15 mill IS a lot for Ibe, but we had £15 mill coming in from Ritchie and Tomlin going, so that covers it. It's just the young English 'mark up' hit that you have to take. We've gone down that path and Boro have gone for the older foreign player. Be interesting to see which approach works better..I suppose ours is more risky.

Nah - Its another wind up from 'Lord Snooty' on our vitals board and the local paps have fallen for it. Thankfully as I would be looking for something a bit better tbh than those two. Need to find another one of those cheap Scandinavian unknown defenders. Cheeky bid for that Icelandic guy who did well in the Euros?
-
Too long in the PL - See what happened? Glad we'll only be here a year Keeping it real.....
-
Also, any of us AFCB lot going to the Arsenal match from the BH area are on buses until Airport P'way! I doubt it will be a riot, but I can see a few old flashpoints etc etc. Do you think the authorities have looked it over and thought it will be ok? Is it likely to get changed?
-
Good points about where to buy next season - Its a shame when you have great defenders at Champo level, but you're just not sure if they are going to cut it against some of the forwards in the PL. Hmm - food for thought, i'm sure Eddie and Jason have a plan, just hope its a good one!
-
I did say that a few posts ago - I presume you boys will be keeping an eye on the Austin scenario if QPR go down, quite an obvious one? Him or Ings would'nt go to us.
-
Ah yes - Redknapp. Amazing what he did with us in 87, that is still his best managerial achievement I feel. Nowadays - we are wary of him tbh. Seems like a decent bloke though, just not that great a manager anymore! As for us going in for Austin and Ings - they wouldn't come to AFCB, I presume they would end up at yourselves, Newcastle, Everton etc level.
-
Well this thread is about how the rivalry should be - and that you'd expect from teams only 30 miles apart. Thanks for the comments, I definitely think you lot are in a far better general mood than you were in league One! There will always be the bitter and twisted types like Lord Duckhunter - he's beyond hope and consistently gets his knickers in a twist over us. I can imagine him foaming at the mouth over last nights events...which pleases me. Generally most of us AFCB fans seem to get on OK with Saints fans. Going to be interesting next season whatever happens, hell we might even sneak a draw with you down here if we're lucky.. Plain weird at the moment, hasn't sunk in tbh.
-
Nice thread. Definitely not as much aggro as a few years ago..I think you lot have cooled a bit now that you are back in the top flight... Anyway - Reading away tomorrow, 4,000 away fans there - they will be fielding a weakened side with the FA cup match looming. What can possibly go wrong
-
Ooh, ramping the patronising bit up now as we approach the promised land eh?? I wouldn't worry, I'm sure we'll find a way of cocking this one up, it must be the lower league 'glass half empty' bit I have stamped on me from following AFCB for years in the lower leagues So hoping to be on here a bit more if we do go up, being I think one of two that posted on here last time we lost to you (x3) a few years back, we might even get a draw, and at least Lallana has departed! I'll also keep trying to convince you that not all of us are rabid 'scum' haters..as you would expect quite a few of us have family members who support you also. It's all a bit weird at the mo..doesn't seem real..
-
Ah, Dunno about Derby now - keeps bloody swapping day to day..Boro looked good against Ipswich again at the weekend. It's just about keeping your nose in there I suppose. Cardiff tonight will be tough, then Boro on Sky saturday lunchtime. Toughies! Goldenballs - we don't all hate you. Honest. Although I would agree about not hearing the end of it if we did go up and managed a win against you. You know what it's like. Although it never get near the constant moaning from Watford and Wolves fans about us
-
Interesting one, good read through all the comments, with the usual Lord Duckhunter twisted foaming at the mouth hatred! Well some things never change..I think we should make the play offs, but can't see top 2, I think Norwich will win the league, perhaps Derby 2nd. Been an interesting season anyway... So you all got your passports ready for the Europa League campaign??
-
OK you care in a nice way, that fine then, just checking Just always been so hard to talk footy on here before a bits of name calling started taking it downhill! And as far as attendances - yes ours are terrible, although now slightly better. The 'urban area' local popn of nearly 470,000 and 5k crowds - even factoring in a bad standard of football, that's exceptionally bad and been the subject of many a pub discussion. So feet up time now for you lot is it?
-
Well, as much as I feared, it's hard to get some sensible debate on here. Lord Duckhunter absolutely hates us, I know that from posts in local papers, that's fine but bordering on the obsessed, but its ALWAYS the exiles who end up hating the team from where they live... The bizarre thing is, you have always said how much you don't care about us - but threads like this prove it's not really true is it. It's nothing on the Pompey scale of hatred, but we do register. Many of you like to kid yourselves that we are all raving 'scummer haters' and I have constantly said on here that its not true! there are a few, they might start singing Scummer stuff, but I don't join in and loads I know don't either. You like to convince yourselves we all hate you, so you can give it back...a few on here like Goldenballs know the actual situation. So come on, is it that hard to get a proper discussion going on here? Without the *****ing? Remember how much you DON'T care
-
Ha haaa! I'm back. Well I think it was only me and someone called Oscar who were left on here keeping the AFCB end up after our disastrous three games against you a couple of seasons back.... Yes, well its going alright, more and more solid at the back, Grabbs and Kermo fantastic up top and Surman seemless in midfield. Don't think we'll make the play offs though as we'll probably lose at Yeovil on Saturday! Nice to see Adam and Jack at the ground tonight enjoying the match and hospitality...I think we have tried to take the former hostage! Nice thread though - quite 'unpatronising' as compared to most comments to do with us
-
Interesting thoughts! We (AFCB) will always bumble along without a proper rival, thats just the way it is. Say if Poole Town got massive investment and got into the league, there still wouldn't be any nastiness. Will be interesting to see if their matches with Weymouth go off peacefully in the 'El Jurassico'. Yeovil are a dead loss - still too non league, don't respind to any winding up. So we are a bit stuck. I was even in 442 magazine a few years ago with fans from Gillingham, MK Dons and Carlisle - teams with no rivals (although Gills aren't a very popular club, all in all) So I don't think us and you will ever happen. I think a few of you overestimate how many us of dislike Saints. Many of us (like me) have got family in Soton and I have gone up to watch the odd boxing day Div 1 game - its mainly some of the older fans. We never hardly played you, so its hard to get worked up! You'll have to hope Pompey pull their socks up!
-
He's already at a big club, although under performing. He'll probably stay if they stay up..definitely going if they go down though..to Spurs perhaps?
