  1. I read somewhere that he insisted security frisked for meat at one of his gigs. The Smiths are sh*te anyway. The lyrics sound like they were written by a 14-year-old emo and the music sounds like it was composed by the emo's mate to sing at his funeral after he died by drinking bleach.
  2. They will be toast one day. Maybe not in four days, but very possibly in four years. They are incapable of running the club like a business. Eventually it will bite them in the arse, but it may take the fourth, fifth or sixth administration.
  3. Delgado seemed like an exciting signing at the time - we all know how that turned out. In my opinion we're not a club that signs big names, we're a club that turns existing players into big names.
  4. It seems that many newly promoted teams do well at the beginning of the season and then fizzle out. Blackpool and Burnley come to mind, and I think Hull followed a similar pattern. With a young squad, my (completely unfounded) guess is we'll take a fair few drubbings at first - especially as 3 of our first four matches are against 'Sky 4' clubs - and improve as the season wears on. I just hope that this doesn't mean that Cortese loses patience with NA.
  5. We need to know why a thread was closed (even if it's blindingly obvious). I can't function without the pedantic grumble from a moderator at the end of a closed thread.
  6. Talisker for me. End of.
  7. Yes. minimising their costs is not their number 1 priority. They didn't have to before so why should they have to this time?
  8. 19 August: With Kelvin in goal, we are beaten 6-1 by Man City. 25 August: Home game to Wigan. It's 1-1 and they have the edge. In the 52nd minute Kelvin sustains an injury and has to go off. THEN it's time to panic.
  9. Hi, is 7 August taken yet? Nothing good ever happens on a Tuesday, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks
  10. Exactly. It would be like Steve Wigley becoming an iconic Southampton figure. Mind you they really don't have anyone else after Harry legged it and FA Cup hero Kanu decided to ask for the money he was actually owed...
  11. USA! USA! USA! I need to lose a bit of weight...
  12. This was a memorably bad performance. At least it didn't matter in the league results but those were equally poor at the time (wasn't this just after the 4-1 loss to Palace)? I'd have to say Birmingham last season not for the result but for the f*cking snow.
  13. This. At worst there will be some half arsed faux inverstigation, where nothing can be proved and it fizzles out to nothing. Annoying to have MLT's name dragged through the mud along with CL though.
  14. I don't see myself ever doing this. I'd rather miss the match but that's just me.
  15. I work in MK but live in Bedford. MK isn't a bad place but there isn't a lot of character, and property is quite expensive being in Bucks. However my younger colleagues who are born and bred in MK seem to love it & couldn't really imagine wanting to live anywhere else.
  16. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers in the jjsaint household.
  17. No, we won't need cover. However I hope he's fit, as he could be our 'wild card' for the start of the season.
  18. I'm sorry to hear this, and wish you all the best for your operation. Food for thought definitely (pun not intended).
  19. Several mentions of the Harp so far - it was awarded CAMRA national pub of the year a few years back. Probably a must for most real ale drinkers in London these days!
  20. Tell the new fans that they can have a £100 discount on their season ticket if they agree to be photographed in a Pompey shirt. If they agree to this, deny them a ticket and ban them for life.
  21. No thank you, unless we have an advanced physicist on SWF who can build a time machine and get us Jenas from around 2005. Even then I think we could do better.
  22. All of this. Over a football shirt.
  23. The idea of this makes me nauseous. However appeasement is most likely necessary in the real world.
  24. No no no no no. Maybe if our ambition is to be relegated and settle into a mid-Championship level then fine. But this signing would be devoid of ambition.
