The difference between Southampton and Brighton...
south replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Noone hasn't played that much and is often used a sub. It is the way the whole team is playing (from goalkeeper to attack) that puts them firmly on top of the league. Not at all down to individual players. Evidently proved when Lua Lua left. -
You only visit one or two away grounds a season and you look at your Brighton away game. 1) The ground looks quite an attractive place for a beer for the game because the concourses are huge, attractively finished and there are even one or more of your home town beers on sale. 2) You have a padded seat and ample leg room 3) They play your clubs videos before the game 4) You are treated from the off as a guest rather than a potential problem. If you do decide to choose Brighton, I'm sure they will be more than happy to accept your money.

Formally lent but he is unlikely to see the money back unless he sells the club.
-
.. ...about 2 and half thousand.
-
Which is probably why the Brighton chairman decided to fund it out of his own pocket.
-
Unless that's in with the home fans there isn't anywhere else to go.
-
Just in a failed bid for Will Hoskins, deal worth up to 1 million according to the local paper.
-
I'd suggest that playing badly in the last two games and coming away with 6 points is the form of champions.

Probably better. This is Poyet's FIRST season as a manager, some in the media even questioned his ability to manage at all prior to going to Brighton. There are many reasons why Brighton sit at the top by a distance. New Chairman, investment, new stadium, buzz around the team and Poyet. Effective attacking, defending and passing. Basically, many things have "clicked" at the same time. -

..but Poyet was a gamble, albeit one that has returned. Brighton was his first club as manager. -

Oh dear, just read the reports and plaudits. They "frustrate" other teams but not letting them anywhere near the ball, simply better than anyone else. -

Except the ones who bother to look at the league table before kick off. -
What will Charlton do with their game in hand tonight

Quite a "purple" patch. Look at their recent results: MK Dons 3-2 Bristol Rovers 4-1 Swindon 3-0 Bournemouth 1-1 Brighton 0-0 Swansea 1-0 (cup) MKD Dons 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 Norwich 1-0 (cup) Colchester 4-2 Apart from Bristol and Swindon (the surprise free falling non candidates this season), I wouldn't say any of the other results could be looked at as easy. -

The ones to watch at the moment are Orient. Not only are they getting the results they are playing very very well. -
Both had goals disallowed since Brighton went ahead.

Brighton ahead

Did happen to Brighton in 83. Probably took their eye off the league when they got to the cup final ? However, statistically teams playing well tend to play well in whatever competition they are playing in. There is the odd example of that not happening (Leeds), but generally speaking teams who lose a cup competition tend to lose their next league game and vice versa.

Arr ! Not by far Still leaves Cardiff I guess.
-
What are you basing that on ? Both Cardiff and Norwich (by quite a margin) have had higher average attendances so far this season.
-
Palace are their nearest neighbours.

El-Abd's Injury from the Brighton Game - Not for Faint Hearted!
south replied to LGTL's topic in The Saints
He played last night. Quick recovery for an injury like that. -
Although - I once worked for a very big company, not a football club but bigger than Southampton in that sense. It was rumoured in the press they were being sold and the company then sent an email denouncing the story to the staff (apparently). A few months later the company is sold - to the very other company detailed in the original story.
