I thought the whole point of this thread was to concentrate on us, the fans, the one true constant (I hope)... not to have yet another blame game thread. And FWIW I wholeheartedly agree with Colin. So much so that I would urge anyone who wants to spend time blaming others and/or doing the whole 'I told you so' thing to stop for a moment and think what the point is of that? Yeah, maybe you'll feel better after spouting off, but it won't actually help the club. I know this is an open forum and opinions are important, but i just hope that we won't spend too much time looking at the past, when it's the future (if we are to have one) that is so vital now.

We weren't engaged at the time...

He doesn't know it, but I was getting plenty. He was the only one who'd TAKE though. Seriously, I split with my fiancee not too long after we first met, but that was because I had got together with her too soon after splitting from my previous gf and there were a few issues hanging around in my head. I recognised it, sorted it, and now, nearly 4 years later, I'm planning our wedding for June.

If you're doing any kind of distance, you won't care how it looks, you WILL want to wear cycling shorts or something comfortable and appropriate. Either that or buy a big fat ladies gel saddle, cos if you don't, your ar$e will know about it after awhile. Anyway, you can get perfectly decent cycling shorts that have 'normal' shorts that clip over them, so no one can really tell.

Big difference is that at Aldi and Lidl, you're not just a cashier, or shelf stacker, or even manager or assistant manager... you're ALL of the above, so you'll be luggin pallets around one minute, and then on the till the next depending on how busy it is. My brother-in-law (to be) works in Lidl and enjoys it, because he's so busy and the day flies by. From what I gather it's hard to 'hide' in a Lidl because they operate so lean.

Move this to the Lounge St L... I feel a few replies coming on. I'm also a fan of a British success story, but it does depend on what you think consitutes a 'success story'... IMO profit is only a part of success if it is wisely re-invested. I guess we could end up discussing it all right back to the basics of capitalism and it's pros and cons, but I have a fairly simplistic view on things, and from where I sit, Tesco, along with a huge number of other 'success stories' only care about profit and as a result, along with other issues like peak oil, it's only a matter of time before the human race f*cks itself up because of it's incessant need for growth. Greed will kill us IMO. Oh, fair play to SFC for sorting the original issue... reading about that my main thought was simply that common sense should prevail. Yes, the website should give more information, yes, the buyer probably should've thought about it a little more, and yes, the woman on the phone could've easily rectified the issue by taking note of the transaction, verifying it, and sending out another one, like Leighton Mitchell did in the end. It costs very little in time and energy and would've resolved the issue immediately. Company reputations for customer service all depend on these kind of single-point transactions... it's all about how ONE person deals with ONE issue at any one time. It's something I've worked with for years and it's a bit of a thing of mine that my staff should be doing everything in their power to resolve an issue, within their remit, and taking ownership of it to it's conclusion, even if they can't sort it themselves. Sadly, too many people want an easy life, and out come the slopy shoulders and the lazy attitude. And don't get me started on the people who insist on finishing a conversation behind their till before serving you. I should stop before I rant anymore. 8-D

Technically superior to the 64 but never taken advantage of and so died a death.

Anyone else ever have a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A? That was my first computer, followed by Commodore Plus4, C64, Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, PC and Playstation. PC aside, I've never owned anything since.
-
Quite. But apparently point scoring and money-making is more important to many people... Shame really, but that is ultimately what will probably f*ck our race up.

An even easier way of doing it, which is very rudimentary, but does do the job if you're careful enough, is to get the calibration print from Photobox and check how it looks on screen vs the print in your hand. http://www.photobox.co.uk/content/quality-advice/calibration You can (and should if you do it professionally) use proper calibration gear as Al talks about, but for most home printing, this will give you perfectly good results.

I gave up trying to talk to George ages ago, when it was clear that he was unwilling to discuss my points, unless he could respond with charts and facts to abuse me or anyone who has concerns. I said then, and I maintain now, that I am open to any and all information on the subject. My sole point throughout was simply that despite all the science, no one actually knows exactly what is happening and what will happen, therefore to make judgements one way or the other is extremely blinkered IMO... but George seemed intent on only denouncing anything or anyone who expressed perfectly legitimate concerns for the future of our race. As far as I'm concerned, a precautionary principle should guide us... i.e. if there are concerns that our actions are causing harm then we should do everything within our power to prevent that harm occurring.

I use Photobox professionally for all ordered prints. As long as you calibrate your screen and use their calibration print to ensure images on screen look like it, you'll be fine. As Pancake said, their quality and value is excellent.

I think I heard on the radio that the Illegal Eagles are playing in Salisbury this weekend... they're supposed to be very good, although not seen them myself.

Drew has an interesting taste in music if Saturday night was anything to go by! I was in the Joiners to see two bands play and he was in there with his brother to watch another local band called Stout... not my cup of tea at all, really heavy stuff, but he seemed to know some of the band. -
Been to Hedge End shopping for the past two Saturday afternoons... both times i checked the score at half time to find we were winning and then didn't check again until after full-time... am I gonna have to do this every Saturday from now on?! Well done Saints, keep it up.

I have a whistle. And a dodgy knee.

My knee still hasn't settled down since last week. I'm confident it'll be ok but hopefully we'll have at least one sub just in case?!

Apologies if any of the following sounds like I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but obviously I don't know your level of knowledge. Now, judging by that photo of the wall above, I would guesstimate that people will be viewing it from a minimum of 5 feet away At 5 feet viewing distance the human eye can resolve about 0.72mm line pairs; ie 0.028 inch; ie 35 per inch; ie about 70 dpi, so anything less than that, and the eye will notice it. That's the theory at least. 72 dpi means nothing without the size. 1024 x 681 pixels, at 72dpi would give you an image of 14.3 x 9.5 inches. The wall you want to cover is approx 86 x 106 inches, so you'd need to upscale the existing photo quite a bit to get there, and that's at only 72dpi... I would personally go to at least 100dpi, probably more. Also, don't forget also that the picture you have already is the wrong aspect ratio... you'd need to crop it to 839 x 681 to be correct, so you're losing more of the picture already. As Pancake says, you ideally need the largest file you can get hold of to give you the best possible starting point, and then the best thing to do is simply try upsizing it to 86x106 inches, at about 120dpi, in whatever packages you have available to you... Photoshop does a good job if you have nothing else to start with... and then print out some 100% samples to view. If this is a commercial job then pay for a hi-res image and build the cost into your quote.

Rob, Jouls, Luke, Ben, and I are all available I believe. The first 3 may not want to play a full game as they have a game the following day. Ben doesn't seem to care as he's also playing Sat pm AND Sun am... I can do the full thing as I'm not playing Sunday. There may be others from RVT. What's the squad looking like?

What scanners are they? I may be interested in one of them.

Met Office warning is only valid until 1400 and from my understanding, we shouldn't get any more significant snow for the rest of the day, certainly nothing that will add to any of the problems on the roads. Temperatures should also remain above freezing now until after the match, helping things thaw out. Some areas may well remain in difficulty but that will be localised and while I sympathise with anyone in an area that is cut off or inaccessible somehow, I would expect conditions to improve sufficiently by tonight for most people to get there.

Apart from the rather major, and unpublicised problems with the fire control systems... :-$

5D Mk II would've helped there...

Can't say this makes me happy... and I don't mean that I wanted him to stay or thought he was doing a good job necessarily, just that it's yet another managerial change, and another failure that our club and us fans, have had to endure.

I had been thinking recently that a reminder from you was due... and here it is.
